Barbuzzo Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Good overall; the hits were countered with a few misses. Meant to order Roasted Acorn Squash Salad but mistakenly ordered Fall Salad. It was a major disappointment; left more than half of it. Roasted Beet Salad and Ricotta starters were very good. The gnocchi as well as chicken thighs both excellent. Tufoli seemed to be missing the pork. Enjoyed Budino for dessert.
Food was great and so was the service . The lights were practically shut off ... You had to read the menu with your cell phone .
But the major drawback and the reason I will not return or recommended this place is because you literally are packed in there like sardines.
They table next to you is literally inches away from you . There is no way to have a private conversation, and the servers literally need to step between tables while running food and serving guest .
I really enjoyed the food and the service was good , but the clustering of tables was a major turn off . Also all food comes at separate time , since there is no where in the kitchen to set up the food.
My suggestion is take out a few tables and increase your prices a few cents . I understand that you want to make every single penny possible . But honestly this was like being on a airplane
Probably one of my favorites places in Philly. Its a pretty small place, but so worth the money time and experience. The food is always delicious and freshly prepared. The place is always busy so I would recommend making reservation.
Amazing Octopus platter. Great Anti-pasta platter for lunch. Very tasty gnocchi and other kinds of pasta that restaurant offers. Yammy pizzas. Quick service. I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys great service and really fresh locally sourced ingredients. One of the reasons I keep on coming back to this over and over again.
Overall great food their salted Carmel Budino is wonderful, however , the portion sizes are very small for the price with every item, and the amount of grilled octopus in the “grilled octopus Mediterranean plate” is minimal. The Hostess was professional but she seemed annoyed in general and with us asking if anything had opened up earlier than our actual reservation time, I.e our Reservation was at 9:15 we showed up at 8:35 and wanted to know if they were any cancellations. Though they were able to accommodate us. On a different day and occasion I have been turned away when asking if we could come just for dessert and there were clearly open tables because it was late and the dinner rush was gone.
We go to Barbuzzo regularly. The food is very good and the prices are fair. Only complaints: the wine pours are small. The place is crowded and spacing between tables is way small. I enjoyed listening to our neighbors' conversation! We had a reservation but still had to wait at the bar for 15 minutes. However, the servers are nice and it's always a good experience.
My wife and I had dinner here prior to seeing a show and it was amazing. All of the food was perfectly timed. The service was superb. The food is served in a family style, 'as it is ready', manner which was great and really allowed for conversation to continue throughout the evening. I contacted the restaurant last minute (approx 4 hours prior to our reservation) to have a bottle of wine at the table when we arrived and sure enough the server brought the bottle to us upon greeting us, which was within just a few moments of us sitting down. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend this restaurant.
My boyfriend and i came here before we went to the theater. It was exactly what we were looking for. Both the main dishes and the desserts were delicious and the wait staff was very friendly and accomodating. There was nothing that we didn’t like about the place. We had driven in from Jersey and it was well worth the drive.
Sherpa milk ricotta appetizer, which is much raved about, was alright. Mediterranean olives are good as a pairing with wine and just because you love them. Otherwise, I'd recommend the Maiale pizza because it has prosciutto and a thin crust :) We didn't try the pasta but the Pei Mussels are decent.
I don't think this is the best Italian in Philly. I think it was cute for a date night and people watching. Seating can get claustrophobic depending where you sit. It's a little too packed on weekends to be the perfect romantic spot.
Fun and inventive menu and bar. Amazing cheese plate. Loved the Octopus dish and kale salad. Only one dish disappointed—a pasta dish with scallops, which totaled maybe 3 medium scallops cut in half and drowning in a pile of starchy noodles. We picked out the scallop pieces and left the rest. While our service was good throughout, this was the one course where the waiter did not check in, and a bus boy swooped in to remove the uneaten dish without questioning why. Not really acceptable from this highly rated eatery.?Though it didn’t spoil our dinner, it was a lower quality dish and not worth the price. Just a heads up to others. Noise level was high, and crowds constant—but we knew what to expect and enjoyed the lively atmosphere, thanks to others who posted and shared earlier reviews.
