Fiancé swore by this restaurant, so had high expectations. It’s absolutely for special occasions, not an every day place. The layout and seating is questionable; not much real estate to navigate; definitely not a place you can “get comfortable”. Overall, solid service, good menu, and a must eat on 13th.
My wife and I hit this place up for Valentines dinner and really enjoyed everything about the restaurant. The food was quick to arrive and very tasty.
Valentines Day was great!
Amazing food. We were advised that the potions were small and best to share so ordered a few extra. Every dish was excellent, probably not as small as described. Highly recommended!
Food was great. Service was great. The place is cramped and loud!
Great food and service! A must visit if in Philly!
One of the most "meh" high-ish end restaurants I've been to in a while. Nothing about the food stood out and, while prices were more reasonable than most places in Center City, it overall felt a little overpriced given how kind of boring and "just ok" everything about the place was. Ambiance was overall average, although we were sat at a super awkward table under a shelf you kind of had to lean sideways the entire meal to avoid hitting your head on. Would not return.
Girls night out!
When we first got there, the host was very nice. He Chechen our costs and showed us right to our table.
Our server came right over to offer us water choices and told us about the menu. We ordered the cheese plate and Brussels to start and then the service changed. We felt VERY rushed. We ordered a bottle of wine, taking out time- every time he came over he poured more into our glasses, almost to make it so we finish it quicker. Entrees were shareable- we ordered the octopus (tasty!), branzino (my favorite) , and gnocchi (melted in your mouth). After he cleared our last plate.. he came over 6 times to ask for dessert. Come on.. 6 times- we told you we needed some time. Finally we ordered dessert. Then dropped the check.. never asked if we wanted more drinks or wine.
We weren't sitting long to wheee he wanted to turn and burn the table.. he wasn't cut- he got sat another table. Here was no one waiting for our table either. We were very disappointed.
Delicious. A special place for us and great all around.
We tried a sampling of many of the small plates and all were excellent. The gnocchi was especially delicious!
My husband and I shared the arancini, pear pizza and butternut squash pasta. Everything was delicious. The staff was knowledgeable, efficient and friendly. I wish we lived closer so we could try more of their diverse menu.
Barbuzzo is my favorite restaurant in Philadelphia
Pretty overpriced for the quality of the food, to be honest. And the tables are so close together that it makes the dining experience less pleasant.
Everything was fantastic! Went for dinner with my daughter (my birthday) and we couldn't have asked for a better meal. The roasted and raw beet salad is seasoned perfectly with the right proportions of greens, beets and cheese and is perfect for 2 ppl to share. We split the grilled octupus and the Pera pizza (white pizza with pears, arugula, gorgonzola and prosciutto) and we couldn't stop eating! Res was a Friday night at 7:15 and we were seated immediately. The server was efficient, kind and knowledgable. Absolutely will return!
Excellent beet salad but portion was smaller than I expected for an entree. Overall still a great restaurant and would recommend.
Tasty small plates with unique flavors. A great space for a light bite and cocktail.
Excellent food, a bit on the expensive side. quick service. Only down side is that "cozy" was putting it mildly! We were wedged in and on top of the table next to us.
Love this place! Delicious food. Worth the price.
One of my favorite restaurants in the city! Gnocchi is amazing!
Excellent food and service! I'd been wanting to come here for awhile, and Barbuzzo did not disappoint.
The meal was a symphony of complex and delectable flavors! I especially recommend the bronzino, which was melt-in-your-mouth good beneath a thin crispy layer of skin.
Very dark, we had to use our phone flashlights to see the menu and our food . The food was wonderful!
My friend is visiting me from Maryland and I found this restaurant on Yelp and decided to try it. Overall, the atmosphere is very cozy, service is great and I would definitely recommend going for their pizza. However, I do find the food a bit on the salty side. The tables are arranged very tightly and I barely had any space to put my coat and bag. Also the couple sitting next to us kept looking in our direction because we were talking in our own language, which was a little bit uncomfortable.
Cousins’ lunch! We are all picky eaters but we 💕💕 everything we ordered. Our server was super patient and extremely attentive. Iam a repeat customer and a big Barbuzzo fan! I love the consistency of the food and the staff’s can do attitude. Kudos to the hostess who took 3 of my “ so sorry we are running late” calls. Can’t wait to return
We came for restaurant week and got the $35 per person deal. Every dish was excellently prepared and so delicious! We can’t wait to go back.
My husband and I went out with another couple this weekend to barbuzzo for their restaurant week deal. We had enough people to order one choice from each course. All of their dishes were fabulous! And wine pairing option was affordable. Service was great. We will definitely be back. Hopefully sooner rather than later.
Always enjoy dining at Barbuzzo! Service was impeccable, food was amazing as always! Liam was fantastic, definitely made our night! If you are reading this, request to be in his section! You won’t regret it!
I have to say I don’t really get the hype about this restaurant. We had an extra guest and they had trouble accommodating us but ultimately did at the chefs table. It was odd because the host kept turning people away but by the end of the night they had at least four empty tables. We had the tartine, meatballs, shaved salad, brussel sprouts and a pizza. The brussel sprouts were just ok- they lacked flavor and weren’t as crispy as I like. The salad was also very bland. Everything else was pretty good. The waitress at the chefs table just wasn’t good she disappeared a lot and couldn’t offer knowledge or suggestions about the drink menu. I wouldnt go out of my way to go here again.
Loved every minute of the dinner, delicious food, nice ambience, excellent service
One of the best lunches I have had. The vegetable antipasti and Lancaster chicken dish were remarkable.
Very good food. Acoustics could use some work. Server (Loren, dark hair, tattoos) was over and above excellent. I would come back just for her and ask to be seated in her station. Please tell her this review is about her, she will recognize the word: Anoush
Went for Food week, great 3 course menu, I would definitely go back and would recommend it
Restaurant Week but no slacking on the food or service. It was terrific, albeit a bit too loud!
Restaurant Week lunch was exceptional. I was very surprised at how small Barbuzzo is but the room was pleasant.
The roasted vegetable antipasto, delightfully dressed, lets you linger over a wonderful arrangement of flavors and textures. For a true delight the swordfish spiedino presents delicately grilled fish that remains delicate and moist. The bed of white beans complements the skewers with pure pleasure. the pizza, crisp and freshly finished satisfies. Of the two desserts we selected, perhaps the buddino surpasses the tira-mi-su.
As a word of suggestion, it would be good to have clean plates for the second course and a change of silverware.
The menu should be corrected to read "antipasto" not "antepasta."
Well, what can I say? Didn't expect to find such a casual eatery in the heart of center city. Was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. The kale salad with beets was great, the pasta with a touch of rabe was awesome. Try the olive oil cake-it's gooood.
Great choice for dinner--friendly atmosphere, excellent service, delicious food. Was there for dine-out and was thoroughly impressed. Fresh ricotta with spice and balsamic was a luscious treat, antipasto salad of fresh winter greens and goodies was very good and a nice balance to the main, rich short ribs. Dessert was a yummy olive cake with wine soaked plums and whipped cream was a great finish. Wine pairing was excellent--rose Sancerre, Sangiovese, Sauterne--perfect and generous. Excellent value. Plan to return.
Loved it! The sheep’s milk ricotta’s was amazing. The branzino was cooked perfectly
We were greeted by the host at the front door. The front door area has a very heavy curtain to keep the chill out when the door opens (very thoughtful), however we happened to be there on a very warm night in Philadelphia (55 degrees on that night). We had a 5pm sitting and it happened to be restaurant week with heavy traffic, however people didn't really start showing up till 6pm which left our area free of crowded tables. We chose meals to share, brussel sprouts, gnocchi, steak and short rib meals. Fantastic. No complaints. I had cabernet merlot which I also enjoyed. Very nice meal!
Really great restaurant week lunch menu. Budino is orgasmic!
Great food! The dinner menu looked great as well!
