Barbuzzo is a Mediterranean restaurant and bar located in the trendy Midtown Village area of center city. We serve small plates intended to share. With a wood-burning oven for pizzas & roasting, Barbuzzo’s menu features rustic, hand crafted regional fare such as: Grilled Octopus with fingerlings, roasted peppers & soppressata; Parsnip ravioli with duck ragu and roasted pears; Uovo Pizza with brussel leaves, guanciale, & truffle farm egg. Menu items range in price from $3 to $32. Barbuzzo has a full bar featuring Mediterranean wines, craft beers and cocktails. We have bar and counter seating overlooking the open kitchen available for walk ins.

The food is always great at Barbuzzo! You simply can’t go wrong with the quality, freshness, and flavors. It is loud though and can be difficult to have a conversation with those you are eating with. Still I love it and will come back.

Don't plan on having a conversation. The nois e level doesn't make this possible. It severely affected the enjoyment of our meal.

Service was terrific. However, It was a little too dark, The seating was extremely close together, almost cramped. The seats were not terribly comfortable where we sat.

Amazing food. only thing I could even be unhappy was with is the heat level. If you're sat in the back it's going to be warm due to the open kitchen

This is one of our favorite restaurants anywhere. Many spots design wonderful-sounding menus, but few have cooks good enough to put the chef's inventions on the table with such precision. Congratulations to this first-rate kitchen. The room is busy and quite noisy, but don't let that deter you - the food is just so good.

We started with roasted marrow bone and smoked trout tartine appetizers. Bone was very good; tartine was spectacular. When you read the ingredients it might seem like an odd combination, but the flavors, colors and textures marry perfectly. Secret is the house-smoked trout - uncooked - not like the flavorful but dry and firm stuff I imagined would be served.

The house-made charcuterie was next, and it was amazing. We could not decide whether the veal pate, pork rillete, Calabrian sausage, or pancetta was best. Beautifully presented and perfectly delicious.

Grilled octopus and seared bronzino were the final course. Both were gorgeous to see and taste. The contrasty black "burnt bread sauce" around the fish was really unusual and delectable - not char-smoky so much as earthy and deep, somewhat reminiscent of black beans.

In all, a triumph of restaurant proficiency. Just what I want - things I wouldn't think of doing, prepared better than I could possibly do at home. Price was modest considering the quality of what we were served.

We went on weekday night. Place was still kicking when we left at 10:30pm. The cheese board was delicious. They serve kinda family style encouraging sharing which we did. Everything was excellent. They have an open kitchen right next to the bar. The smells were enticing.

Very popular and busy place with tables outside and inside. They were almost half hour late in seating us (we had reservations). They tried to make up for it with great service and a free appetizer and a free desert. The food alone was worth the wait, though. Interesting pastas and pizzas (Italians would complain, though, about adding so many ingredients, including corn into a pork pasta dish, but it was very well balanced and tasty and not too rich. It was done right. We loved it!). Highly recommended. On a week day it gets a little less busy after 9. So you can walk in. Also, they have a bar which was not all filled at 8:15 when the three of us arrived and waited for half hour. So, if yours is a small party (say a couple) and you are flexible, it should not be too bad just to go there without reservations. If we lived in Philly, it would be one of our regular hangouts.

The food was delicious. I had the Chefs anti pasta plate which consisted of small samples of food. I struggle with the service rating. Selected table for 5, but someone brought a guest. We asked if they could accommodate or wee would sit at separate tables. While the hostess did accommodate us, she couldn’t help a side comment “ Just for future reference we don’t do tables over 5”. Um ok, that’s why we asked and said we could sit separately. Then when we asked if we could do separate checks (it was a Work lunch), we got an eye roll, but they did it. Many places do this now, or just say no. So, Customer service was accommodating but with attitude.

First, it was too dark inside. Dark enough to need flashlights to read the menu. Dark enough that you couldn't see the food. And given the price point, I think they can afford to pay for more electricity to shed some light on the subject without losing the atmosphere. The food was good. The chef was accommodating to a special request. My gnocchi were super delicious. My companion's ragout was on the salty side. And the bread, though not complementary, was a nice addition. I would recommend the restaurant as long as the person wouldn't be picky about some of these issues. I would eat there again. The wait staff was attentive and charming.

I have made it a point to have dinner here when I am in Philly. Many delicious dishes to share with your friends and family. Save room for dessert as the Salted Caramel Bundino is a great way to finish your meal. This is a busy spot so make a reservation if you can.

My experience at Barbuzzo was fantastic, my buddy and I were seated outside on a beautiful summer night, so no complaints. The restaurant has plenty of outdoor seating, and the overall atmosphere is great for any occasion. We started off with the goat milk ricotta, which was so creamy and light, followed by the watermelon salad, which I can say is the perfect refreshing appetizer right before any main dish. For the main course, we split the pan-seared gnocchi and the stuffed meatballs, both of which are to die for. The meat from the meatballs was so tender and tasty, while the pan-seared gnocchi almost just melts in your mouth. And lastly, to top it all off, we got the delicious sweet, savory and salty budino dessert.

I highly recommend Barbuzzo for any occasion.

Food was delicious and perfectly balanced. I just thought that the prices were a little bit high for the amount of food you get. However, I will go back even though I feel the portions were a little small for what I paid for. As for the ambiance, I felt that the low intensity of lighting brought a relaxed atmosphere that even though it was lunch hour, it wasn't too loud and was calming for me to enjoy my dining experience with my friends. I would also definitely recommend making reservations since their tables were almost all seated at 12:15 PM. Our server waited on us with the right amount of attention and everything appeared clean.

Absolutely wonderful experience.

Definitely make reservations on opentable to this place otherwise you won't be able to get seated.

We got the Sheep's milk ricotta appetizer-really creamy and perfect with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The only thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the burnt parts of the bread. One of them I really had to scrape the burnt parts off but the cheese hid the burnt flavor of the bread so I can't really complain.

The meatballs definitely were a hit! Great tomato sauce, nicely seasoned and spicy and soft- perfectly cooked.

The Asparago pizza was a very enjoyable white pizza minus the crust. Everything on it worked well, but I have to admit the crust was a bit chewy for my liking with again burnt edges.

Finally, I have been waiting for the budino dessert for the longest time, and just have to say wow, it is amazing. The caramel was a tad too salty for me but paired very well with the fresh vanilla pudding. I recommend sharing this since it is very rich.

I would like to try the Tonnarelli next time which was recommended by our waiter who was awesome, working on just his third day. He held it together really well.

One of my favorite restaurants and a must-have whenever I'm in Philly. Food is always incredible. I like finger foods so we normally go for lunch and split a pizza and something else. Drink list is pretty good. The buodino (or however it's spelled) is one of the best desserts.

As usual everything was delicious. If there was one recommendation, it would be the lamb ribs, they were extremely well prepared and cooked but needed a little more salt. They were however good enough that they were gone before I could request the salt. Love the place.
