Really excellent meal. We shared the Ouvo pizza and the Casarecce pasta and both were very, very good. And the Budino dessert was excellent as well. Highly recommend this place.
Great spot! Do not miss the BUDINO dessert. Best you will ever have.
Food is excellent.
I love the dried oregano buds they serve with the pizza so you can break them up and sprinkle them on. DELICIOUS!
Great for sharing small plates. The broccoli dish was the table favorite.
The food itself was delicious and the service was wonderful - but the price for the portions?! Insane. The hanger steak was cooked perfectly, but for $23 it warrants more than TWO BITES (4 bites altogether, between a couple). The noise level and tables were also a little too loud and a little too close, but I could handle that if the prices or the portions were more appropriate for the value. I don’t necessarily plan on returning, which is a shame, as I truly enjoyed the tastes.
Great food, the staff followed our request to stagger the plates coming out. Definitely save room for dessert!
Going there since 2015, never a doll moment with the food and drinks.
I love Barbuzzo.. Consistent every time I visit this little gem of a restaurant .. Friendly and Professional Staff.. Excellent Food .. nice atmosphere and just outright Cool !
Have been to this restaurant several times over the last 5 years and each time seems a little bit less great than the last. I’m not sure if its management or chef changes or just simply the fact that the owners are so well established and have a good reputation they can let things slide. Either way, it was good, but not great. Will consider other places in the future for friends get together a rather than an old standby.
It was way too dark in the restaurant. It was so dark that my wife and I needed our cell phones to read the menu.
One of our faves in Philly, this was our 3rd trip in a month
Food and service are amazing every time I come here. The only complaint I have is that we came for happy hour and while the food is discounted, the portions are also smaller. Maybe I’m wrong, but I always assume happy hour food is discounted, not just cheaper because it’s less food. But still would definitely go back, but probably won’t aim to be there for the happy hour and just do the regular menu.
As always, a wonderful experience. Our waiter was excellent and the food was perfect. Thank you making my friend so happy on her birthday.
Absolutely fabulous always great try a pizza the trout a pasta dish and a salad wonderful service great wine list and the salted caramel dessert is truly memorable
The ricotta and the pizza are delicious. Cocktails were a little bit disappointing, specially the Negroni (there was no ice!!!) and the Aperol Spritz (too sweet).
Cleaning is also not their high point, we asked glasses and plates to be changed, because they were not clean.
Great Lunch, great food, and great service. favorite restaurant in philly!
Because of their center city location, Barbuzzo is a popular destination and we haven’t been in years. The seating is tight, however, food is still great and the service is excellent. The recommended wine was spot on and our server Shane was outstanding. He coursed our meal perfectly, which is rare for a tapas-style restaurant. He also made my husband’s bday more fun. I noticed him with the other tables near us and he did not miss a beat. I’d recommend this restaurant and look forward to going back.
Great food. Great Service. Great bar. Our waiter, Shane, has been praised in previous OpenTable reviews and they weren't kidding. This guy is for real. He is one of the most attentive, informative and kindest waiters we have ever had. The only glitch is that Barbuzzo is a "small plates for sharing restaurant" and I am old-fashioned and have never understood that concept. A few small plates restaurants that we have been to have failed. When you order something, you never know how much or how little food you are going to get and I don't like to share my food with anyone and I don't want to eat anyone else's food. Give me the appetizer and entree that I ordered and I am happy. Having said that, the food at Barbuzzo is delicious and creative. I had the Fideua, which is Catalonian paella with noodles instead of rice and I am still thinking about it. It was awesome. I like it more than paella.
Came here 2 times in the past month. The first time my friends and I all got sick after eating here, they seem to have some sort of sanitation issue. The second time the waiter was terrible, didn't come by once after he took our order and the restaurant wasn't busy. After when we got our bill I left him a ~13% tip because of the crappy service. He has the audacity to turn and say "wow really." Unfortunately I can't find the receipt with his name on it but I will keep looking. Seems like this place has been going downhill. Would no longer recommend it.
The service was great! We didn’t need to wait very long for the food. Small plate style. You really can’t go wrong with any of the items on the menu. Definitely worth checking out for a special occasion!
Wonderful service, pizza, risotto, meatballs all delicious!
This is a lively place with fantastic food. Just the two of us for a fun/casual dinner out.
With so many dining options in Philadelphia, this restaurant needs to up its game. It is overcrowded and hot, while the food is just okay and way overpriced. $15 for a tomato cut into 4 wedges, a little bit of fresh mozzarella and two small pieces of bread. Outrageous.
We always live this restaurant!
It is wonderful!
I am always glad to visit
Delicious food! The arancini, stuffed meatballs, and Calabrese pizza were excellent!
The food was fairly expensive for what it was. Much better dining options exist in Philadelphia for the price. Won't be returning....
Amazing food, fantastic service. Couldn’t have been happier! Great date night.
Went to Barbuzzo for anniversary dinner. I was very impressed by the food-- we had the arancini, the meatballs, and the spelt pasta. All were delicious, but the meatballs were especially so. Then we had the caramel budino for dessert, and while I had read rave reviews online, it was not my favorite dessert. All in all the dinner was delicious. My one critique is that it was extremely dark in the restaurant, to the extent that it was very difficult to read the menu, and when we were finished at roughly 8:30 pm, it was actually brighter outside than it was in the restaurant.
Excellent menu. All items have own flair.
Has a hip vibe but tolerated the older generations.
Shared appetizers and several pizzas. Everything was delicious. Really enjoyed our visit.
Reservation was shortly after the restaurant opened. Employees were polite and service was prompt. Place was quiet enough for us to have a conversation without yelling. Food was really good and served in appropriate portions.
Went to dinner with my father and we both enjoyed it immensely. Split the tuna crudo, then he had the Tufoli and I had the Gnocchi. For desert he got the fruit sorbet and I had the budino (obv). Only note is that it was quite dark inside, we had to use phone flashlights to read our menus. Food is delicious and prices are not bad at all. Portions are reasonable as well.
Our server Shane was amazing his energy and enthusiasm for the food was just right. I highly recommend the budino for dessert.
Food was absolutely delicious. One plate better than the next and was so reasonably priced. Loved it so much. Can’t wait to go back and try more.
First visit here, food, service were amazing. We did feel a little rushed, each plate delivered to table when ready, and there was no break. Additionally it was quite loud, but did not affect the wonderful time we had. We'll definitely return.
It was good overall. Chefs counter isn’t really a viable seating option. Food and drink were phenomenal.
We were disappointed with our lunch at Barbuzzo. We went there with the expectation that it was Mediterranean tapas restaurant. There were only two small plates offered on the lunch menu (one chicken and one fish). There were other appetizers, sandwiches, salads, pasta, and pizzas. It really didn't seem like a tapas place. I had the mushroom pizza that was very good, but I've had better. The food overall was good but nothing exceptional. The worst part of our meal was the service. Our waitress was very slow to come take our order. When she finally came, she didn't mention any specials to us. I learned later of the specials overhearing another waiter share them with customers. There were only three of us, and she managed to forget to bring a drink that my son ordered. The waitress was not friendly at all. I've rarely experienced such lousy service at a restaurant. The restaurant was surprisingly busy. I'm sure we would have enjoyed our experience at Barbuzzo more if we had had better service. With all the great restaurant options in Philly, we don't plan to return any time soon.
We liked the small (and medium small) plates and the choices. Interesting salad/vegetable dishes. We shared the chitarra pasta dish which was delicious. Our two-top was cozy and the service impeccable. Good drinks too.
I’ve been going to Barbuzzo for years, and my experience this week was the opposite of every other experience. The grilled octopus was mealy, the whipped ricotta like cream cheese. Our bottle of red wine was above room temperature and needed to be chilled. Our service was mediocre as we tried to communicate these issues to our server who seemed apathetic to our feedback. Didn’t even want to stay for the budino as I didn’t want further disappointment.
Every single dish was exceptional. But the noise level was so high (around 7:30 on a Wed.) that we couldn't totally enjoy the experience.
My 4th time... every time is great.. love the food, service, and atmosphere!!!
