This used to be a great restaurant but now, it is unfortunately closed. It is very, very strange that it was possible to make a reservation through OpenTable, receive a reminder and the request to evaluate this resto....they should be better informed.

Very tasty meals from Chef Fisun Ercan

Service was very long (waiter forgot to take one order) and we should have been offer some bread at least.

Very Nice place but the music was a bit loud for a brunch. Hard to enter tain a conversation.

Would however recommend for delicious food.

The lamb sausages Plate was a delight !

Endroit génial pour un brunch différent. Excellent rapport qualité/prix.
En amoureux ou petit groupe.
Grande table conviviale. Pas de table individuelle.
Pas recommandé avec les enfants.
Nous reviendrons essayé le menu dégustation prochainement, à partager entre amis.

The food was delicious and a bit precious and the portions inadequate. When you order calamari on a menu, you generally expect it to be mostly calamari, but this was served as a salad with a few bits of calamari sprinkled on it. Basically, we were grateful that the Turkish bread seemed to be unlimited.

On y va pour la nourriture bien sur, les plats sont tous aussi bons les uns que les autres, le plaisir de découvrir de nouvelles saveurs (le tartare d'agneau est à tomber!) L'ambiance est parfaite, intime et dynamique, facilite les échanges avec d'autres clients. Les serveurs sont accessibles, charmants et connaissent leurs produits. Un grand plaisir, à renouveler très bientôt.

Very good food and excellent service BUT there are no tables in the restaurant. It was extremely uncomfortable seating plus people are packed on long tables with strangers. I know it is European to have strangers right next to you while you are having intimate conversation but at least have comfortable seats.

Bonjour,

Dans l'ensemble, ce fut une expérience décevante. La nourriture servie (était généralement fade, à l'exception des cocktails, du vin et de l'agneau qui étaient excellents.

Le serveur, bien que courtois, avait l'air complètement désintéressé par son emploi.

J'ai d'abord connu le Su et j'y suis allée à 3 occasions pour bruncher.
L'an dernier, j'ai appris que vous aviez ouvert le Barbounya et suis allée aussi pour bruncher.
J,y suis retourné pour le brunch dimanche dernier pour une occasion spéciale.

C,est un peu plus bruyant que chez Su, la proximité des gens autour d'une même grande table mais on s'y habitue...

Sur ma recommandation, un groupe de jeunes gens sont allés souper au Barbounya, l'an dernier et ont adoré leur expérience.

J'y retournerai avec plaisir! C'est plus accessible à Montréal pour moi!

On n'a pas trop aimé le chat qui entre dans le resto. Encore moins le serveur qui nous dit qu'il vient peut-être pour les souris... C'est mon seul bémol. Bouffe et service extra autrement.

Tried their brunch for my birthday - Very original - Traditional Turkish mezze sharing platter with a choice of main dish per person - yummy food, cool ambiance , great patio and lovely waiters - love the design too! highly recommended.

We had an excellent experience at Barbounya for Sunday brunch a few weeks ago. The service was super friendly and efficient, the food delicious and varied, the prices reasonable considering the quality. We enjoyed how the brunch works: you have a shared platter of tasty finger foods first and then each diner can choose one main course. Thankfully, we reserved because the restaurant really filled up around noon or 1:00pm. We'll definitely be back.

Nous avons découvert votre établissement par un certificat cadeau de notre fils qui avait été enchanté de sa visite à votre resto. Intéressant d'avoir des plats très différents et des portions qui permettent le partage. Service prompt et accueillant. Nos souhaits pour que vous puissiez rester sur Laurier très longtemps.

Je connais le Su pour ses brunches incroyables, donc je savais à quoi m'attendre côté bouffe. C'était la première fois que j'allais au Barbounya par contre et je vais y retourner, ça s'est clair. D'abord l'acceuil et le service était impeccable et les choix pour le plat principal était variés. J'ai pris le maquereau avec la galette aux courges et autres légumes. DÉLICIEUX.
Je recommande à tous d'aller bruncher au Barbounya au moins une fois. Les brunches turcs, ya pas mieux.

P.s., réservez, si vous y allez pour le brunch du dimanche, parce que c'est plein.

Idéal pour ceux qui aiment goûter un plein de petits plats et partager en toute convivialité. Beaucoup de saveur.
Les serveurs sont particulièrement attentionnés et efficaces.
Seul bémol, très bruyant et le partage des grandes tables peut rendre difficile la conversation .

I had high hopes. I was underwhelmed maybe because my expectations were high. I understand food and have a good palate. It felt like the Chef was just not present in the food. It lacked substance, complexity, novelty, there was not much that was interesting except maybe the hints of cinnamon in the ceviche (the skin of the wish was too tough by the way- nothing sexy about it). The 'cigar' was very uninspiring in filling. I grew up in Middle Eastern and Moroccan food- I am not a traditionalist per se but believe it has its role in modern favours. I do not say this out of bias. I REALLY wanted to like it but I had to admit defeat. It's a cigar! It should be sublime if that is what is being served. I was sad about it too as this was a special occasion. To continue...the stuffed squid too was uninteresting- basically not much better than a decent dolmate...rice, dill, overpowering. The squid -decent- again just decent, not inspiring. The rabbit with Tagliatelle , again so uninspiring that I don't even want to write about it. Basically a flatline just no high or low in there. Then finally the lamb . Simply put: not tender. I could NOT believe it. In fact the more I think back on the meal the more annoyed I get. I feel bad I spent money there, something that well it was the first time in a while that I am truly fully disappointed in a restaurant. Sometimes you simply get what you pay for and know what to expect. Sometimes a person is blown away. And then other times, I am saddened by the experience.. On the plus side the space is great as was the service at every level. I would recommend the chef /owner step back in and either reimagine, reinsert energy into the food, reconquer the dynamic that should be there. Otherwise the place will simply be 'old' before its time- it feels as if it is aging. Sorry for the harsh review. I don't normally review. I wanted the food to carry me away- the desert, ocean, sun, spices, joy. It didn't do so very much. I Hope it helps a bit.

The service was amazing I just wished there were more in-between options - between totally vegetarian and seafood and lamb when it comes to tapas. I eat chicken, beef and veal, none of these were in the tapas, and there was a lot of seafood in which I am allergic, all else was great, great wine selection and sweet wines too!

Nice Turkish tapas bar. Interesting menu that must be shared. There is a tasting menu if you are a first time diner. The apetisers and meat dishes were the best. The stuffed calamari least popular at our table.

We all liked the food for sharing that came to our table at first. However, we all also said that the food lacked a bit of taste. A little bland. But the atmosphere is good :)
