Great Culinary Food & Superior Service, Excellent Experience!!!
We love eating at Barbounia. Service is outstanding. Food is excellent. The happy hour is fun and options generous. The dinners are great, wine list huge and prices very acceptable. Always on our top list when we come to NYC
We came to Barbounia for brunch. The food was great and our service was perfectly good. However, we were seated 30 minutes late, and they cut into our time with bottomless mimosas. They refused to serve us past 2 hours after our reservation time, despite the fact that we sat 30 mins past this time. When we raised this issue to the manager, we found the the response to be rude and demeaning. As much as we enjoyed the food and atmosphere, we would not return.
If you want a Wow! festive atmosphere and require a menu for guests who have various dietary requirements (e.g., vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian) there is something on the menu for everyone. Barbounia also offers an outstanding Happy Hour drink and food menu and encourages dining at the bar which is not always the case at many restaurants. My personal favorite appetizer is the Octopus Potato salad and for an entree I had the rib-eye steak. Some of the other choices selected included the Greek Salad (no feta), brussel sprouts side (excellent) and the fish special. If you have never dined at Barbounia give it a try, you will not be disappointed.
Feels like a whole new place in there. Very lively and happening.
Awesome time as always
Fun vibe and buzzing atmosphere, but food wasn’t really for me at all. Very expensive for food that has lots of plating flair, but not so much flavor. Waited almost 45 mins between courses. Won’t be returning, but may prove fun for happy hour crowds just looking for drinks and nibbles, as the mezze was quite good!
The food is wonderful! So tasty! The restaurant is great as well. I just didn’t like one thing.. My total was $50 so i left $100 and waited for the change. The waiter got me back $60 change (3 $20 bills) instead of $50 so i thought he made mistake and called him to tell him he gave me extra money. He said i know but we don’t have $10 bills so i gave you extra money. The thing is the maximum suggested gratuity was $10 (20% of $50) and i just felt he got me back 3 $20 bills so i can leave one $20 bill (his $10 plus the gratuity) .. i was going to leave the gratuity anyways but just felt it was intentional that’s all! It’s a vibe and i got it and didn’t like it! Who would give you $10 back from your bill in a fancy restaurant like that? Wouldn’t he be charged for them? He is a waiter not the owner! Also, he wasn’t gone for long in bringing back the change so i didn’t feel he looked much plus it was Saturday and the place was packed so it’s unlikely there are no $10 bills! I left the $20 bill anyway at the end but I just didn’t like the incident. Aside from that, the food is delicious.
We always love Barbounia! And happy it is a short walk from our flat. Such a vibrant space, and always full of laughter and chatter. The food is stupendous. Always! My partner and I shared a flatbread and an octopus. Delicious! I got the hanger steak, of which I had two bites after the appetizers ( but savored it the next day) and he got the salmon kabobs. The noise level can be intense, but the food, service, and ambience makes up for it. Thank You, Barbounia!
This was my first visit to Barbounia, and it did not disappoint! The interior, with its high ceilings and flowing fabric, felt warm and exotic, with enough lighting to read the menu without needing the flashlight app on your phone, but while also providing a soothing atmosphere. It felt special and elegant. We had the roasted eggplant appetizer, which came with bread and was just enough of an appetite-whetter. I had the snapper, and my partner the lamb special -- both were beautifully displayed and delectable. The staff was attentive without being overbearing. We felt pampered! And while this was not a cheap meal, it was also not outrageously expensive, especially by New York standards. All in all, a beautiful, delicious, swoon-worthy evening.
I have dined here several times and tonight was terrible. The service was so rushed. We had to put our appetizer and meal in at once and they came out all together at our little table. Our waiter never came back to ask if we needed anything or offer another beverage. The hostess ended up taking out bill to run it. They had us out in 45 minutes. Such a disappointing experience at my favorite restaurant.
The food was amazing. Our waiter was good but a bit distracted towards the end and we had to keep flagging him down.
Great service food and entertainment
Amazing food, people, music, overall AAA
LOVE IT HERE!
Amazing dining experience! Staff was friendly and gave honest and fantastic recommendations. Ambiance and vibe was on point!!! Took my family here that was visiting from out of town
Probably skip this place altogether in the future. Not sure why the waiter looked at me like I was crazy when I asked for a piece of toast to dip my runny eggs for the shakshuka I ordered. I could not get any refills on water. My tea was brought out about 20 minutes after I ordered it.
Wonderful food, wonderful atmosphere, but very arrogant.
Excellent food; great service; excellent communication; friendly atmosphere; great decorations but a little too noisy : music was a little too loud. Still, we had an excellent time !
Came with my family for Christmas brunch. We’ve never been disappointed here no matter what season, holiday or regular day we come. Service, food and cocktails are always spot on. Ambiance is elegant and chic. They are good with kids too!
Not the best service. Rude staff and really overpriced for the food which is mostly regular kebabs and uninteresting desert menu.
Xmas eve dinner here was good, the ambiance and set up feels warm for every occasion. Appetizers where great, main courses could improve (falafel made with way too much salt, salmon was half made). Overall we enjoyed our dinner but will consider other Mediterranean places before.
Food was delicious & waitress and servers were friendly! Will definitely go back!
Food is amazing!
Beautiful space, amazing service & food! Great brunch special on the weekends & hands down the best shakshouka in the city.
There were 11 of us...our number kept changing but the staff was incredibly gracious and accommodated us. The service was exceptional the food was delicious (per usual)
I went for brunch with friends. They have a bottomless brunch option of bellinis, mimosas and champagne. Whatever you asked for, you received the same drink which was outrageous. Even asking the waitress for one of each, she poured same drink from the same bottle... That reflects very poorly and cheaply on the establishment.
The food was OK for the price. Nothing out of the ordinary but not bad either. We ordered labne, hummus, shawarma lamb kebab and a burger. The shawarma didn't come wrapped in a pita and the chicken variant shud always come with a white garlic paste without which idk what's the point of calling it a shwarama. The hummus had significant tahini undertaste.
One of my favorites but just too packed and noisy during the holiday season.
Noise was awful restaurant was beautifully decorated for the holidays
Great food and service. The ambiance isgrest
Celebrating a friend’s promotion!
I've wanted to try Barbounia for a long time and the food was delicious and just enough. The noise level was noticeably very high all over the restaurant and as everyone was shouting at those at their tables. The waiters were very attentive as well and it almost seemed they were eager to turn the table.
My friends birthday! The happy hour deal is a MUST so def recommend getting a reservation from 3-before 7! We had ours at 7 but got there an hour early to enjoy apps and drinks at the bar for a really great price and they were very nice about it!
It was our first time dinning here. It was a wonderful surprise when we walked in. The Holiday decor was fabulous added to the holiday spirit. Every dish was wonderful and had a unique touch of fall. The red snapper dish that I ordered was on a bed of roasted delicate squash which was done just right. Staff was very courteous and answered any questions we had about the menu. We felt it was an absolutely perfect dinning experience and we would recommend it to our friends and family for a unique experience.
Fun place for friends to get together!
This was a great find. Having been to lunch, I returned there to take my family to brunch. The hosts coped with constant activity (thanks Anita!)seating the guests with good humour and we really enjoyed the meal with our teenage daughter emerging and declaring the pancakes as the best...no faint praise from a real aficionado!
We'll be back...breakfast and dinner next
Nice ambiance without the noise usually associated with a trendy place. Great variety in food choices. Nice cocktails!
Loved the brunch!!!
