It’s good place
The service that we received tonight was horrible, we waited 15 minutes before someone came to ask us for our order and another 15 minutes before someone came to give us the check.
I ended up getting the duck shawarma which had black rice as a side dis
The greeting by the hostess and team was excellent. Very accommodating and friendly.
The waiter was not interested in our table. Drinks came out late and after several follow up requests. He was chatting with a table of young girls. I hope it was worth his time and they tipped him well.
Love the restaurant and the food is excellent, but the waiter should be working at Friday’s.
The food was delicious, but the staff seemed entirely overwhelmed. Our waiter seemed to blame us for the many mistakes he made while eventually “correcting” them with an attitude of annoyance.
Absolutely TERRIBLE service. We were totally ignored and it took forever to get our main meal. So sad to report this, as it is a pretty restaurant and the food was lovely.
Great food combined with great energy and great company led to a great evening!
Love Barbounia! A great convenient place that's lovely and the food is delicious.
Love this place! Many years of great meals and ambiance. Doesn’t look is sparkle. Delicious and fun
Was enjoyable and food was a little rich.
The bottle of wine we ordered was very good, and the wine person was helpful.
The appetizers were okay, but the lamb ketfa was greasy and dried out.
We didn't come here for years, even though we live in the neighborhood. Somehow we had an assumption that it was just a hot spot where they emphasis was on the design and loud music for the "scene." But their ample outdoor seatings (20th st is often closed for cars) looked very attractive for us to return after years.
We were surprised how excellent the food was. And dishes, especially the appetizers, are pretty big. The smoked pureed trout was wonderful, with their delicious flatbread. Octopus was super tender. No knife was needed for the short rib tagine.
The staff was friendly. While we didn't care to hear any music while sitting outside, it was fun for people watching. Two out of three white wines (the varietals we often drink) by the glass were not great. But while the outdoor seatings are available, we imagine coming back to enjoy it.
Loved our dinner here! The vegetarian tagine and espresso martinis were amazing.
Horrifying. Terrible menu. Terrible prices for size. Wait staff refuses to wear masks. So did the manager. Horrible experience. Huge rats as well
Waiting staff very attentive to review the hosting , but overall all good ! Busy place
Ridiculously and unnecessarily loud. Full restaurant of chatter was overwhelmed by loud music. After 15 months we want to connect with our friends, not be blasted by music while we are eating. Asked twice (nicely) if they would please turn down the music.
The new outside seating options are a nice alternative to the buzzy indoor /bar dining.
They were so pushy. I don’t like it.
It was too loud and too hot inside the restaurant
Food here is spectacular. Terrific service also. Would highly recommend.
Food was great. Service was very spotty. Hostess was very rude as was the gentleman who sat us. Took forever to take our order, but once it was in the food came out quickly. The family next to us left before ordering because no one came around to take their order while others were arriving later and already being served. While waiting a very long time for our order to be taken, different busboys repeatedly came by to drop off apps that were ordered by other tables So not very organized. But no complaints about the food. Everything was delicious. And on another note, when you calculate tips, the percentage is to be applied or pre tax not post tax.
It was a beautiful night and we sat outside. Food was amazing!
Sat outside hot and ignored. Food was delicious service abysmal. Found it pricey even for Manhattan. Don’t
Mind paying for food when service is good can’t stand too when it’s not . My wife asked what kind of beer they had waiters response was “only a few”. And he legitimately didn’t know what kind nor did he bother to go and find out. Won’t be back
Went there for brunch. Drinks were good, wasn’t lucky with my main entree pick-Lamb Kebab Pita had no flavor at all, very plain. Service was good.
Always enjoy Barbounia. Great space, decor, and food. The volume of the music was way too loud though.
So expensive it’s not Worth it
Second time dining here, food was amazing both times. Dessert was incredible. Good service, beautiful scenery. Highly recommend.
The food, service and our overall experience was superb. Thanks again to the staff and the chef for an amazing evening. See you again soon.
Got outdoor seating. The food and the palm trees didn't feel like you were in the mist of NY City.
we ate outside...surprisingly not noisy at all...had to wait for our bill longer than we wanted to, but the food was worth it...outstanding, as usual
Beautiful ambience. Best strawberry mojitos and seafood.
The menu has changed at the restaurant but not online. The new menu has much less options. Had we known the menu had changed we would not have dinned there. It will be our last time eating here after the past 4 years.
food was super flavorful and well prepared. Highlights were the spreads, granola/fruit bowl and the salads! Bravo, so well done. We will be back.
We got our order wrong and the place was so understaffed that we couldn’t get a decent service
Drinks were terrible. Service was very poor. I have been coming for years and this was the first time that I didn’t enjoy it. Not sure what happened but the drinks were terrible and service non existent.
Had 10:45AM brunch reservations- wanted a slow brunch experience because we were celebrating anniversary with out of town family. We asked for a slight change in one of the dishes and was curtly told no substitutions, the request was not a substitute- but please not include. There were six of us and we were rushed in and out - didn’t ask if we wanted another drink - just brought the check. So our special anniversary brunch with family was over in less then one hour.
We live on the same block and watch people enjoy long, leisurely brunches and we were rushed out. Not sure I will return because there are plenty of other restaurants that will accept our money.
The food was great but all the flatbreads are now off the menu which reduced the vegetarian options. But ultimately it was the loud music that was the turn off. For dinner at 6pm we had to yell across the table.
Everything was fine, just not especially notable. We ordered the shaksouka for brunch and had to ask for bread which was a side order. I’ve never ordered that where that didn’t come with the dish. Wouldn’t prevent me from returning, but would from ordering that dish.
It would be better to lower the noise level overall( the music). Some waiters need more training in patience.
We had a bad experience with the lead hostess who was quite rude to us. My friend’s expensive umbrella was stolen from Barbounia’s umbrella bin, but she didn’t handle the situation with empathy or care. Instead she chose to pick a fight, with complete disregard of customer service. It has really turned me off will need to reconsider if I return to Barbounia unfortunately.
