The service was excellent.Warm and lovely dining experience.
Barbounia was a lovely experience, offering a chic New York twist to Mediterranean favorites.
The host/concierge was very friendly and helpful in finding a table suitable for a first date. The service was outstanding, as was the food.
Have lived in the neighborhood for years and finally decided to stop in for dinner on Saturday. The service was great, the food fantastic. However the meal was quite expensive. We had a greek salad and 4 appetizers and 2 glasses of wine. With tip the meal cost $176. That is high for the amount of food served.
Food was overpriced
My entree was way over cooked
Seating was uncomfortable because restaurant packing too many tables in and close together
This restaurant is one to skip
Always a favorite. Love this place!
Great food and great service everytime I go. Portugese octopus is my fav dish!
Food was delicious-we shared the mezze of spicy feta, labneh, and hummus, and also crispy artichoke for starters. We also shared a branzino and a side of mushrooms. The fish was amazing but the vegetables were a bit salty and the mushrooms were too salty by far. We’ll both go back but skip the mushrooms 😊
I love this place! Every time I'm in NYC I make a reservations and always have a fantastic meal! It should be on everyone's must visit list.
I had scheduled a 7:30 reservation for Friday night at Barbounia. When the 4 of us arrived, they said that it would be a moment before seating us so we should grab a seat at the bar. After about 25 minutes at the bar, and plenty other parties being seated, they sat us at our table. Food was very good, but not the best experience with service!
We were sat right away. Everything was delicious. Noise level is a bit much though.
Server Brian was excellent
The food was good, but we felt pressured all the time to expedite our dinner, as if we were in a factory. Very expensive considering the poor experience.
I love in Texas but frequent New York often. Barbounia is hands down my favorite place. If I’m have a casual lunch with a friend or an intimate dinner, Barbounia is a must when I’m in the city. Food is incredible, atmosphere is perfect and the staff and service are always meeting and exceeding expectation. If you’re in the city, you can’t pass it up.
It was great, although the prices are a bit inflated.
Made a reservation, had to wait at the bar while "the waiter is pushing the people who are our table out".
After 20 minutes waiting, went to the front to get an update on the status of the table and they told us that our table was ready, the hostess told me that she send a text message to update us, I told her that I don't check my phone when I'm with people, and it would have been nice to know that the communication would be via text message instead of people. She said that she had sent someone to find us ... funny enough we didn't run into her between the bar and the entrance.
Once seated, we shared our experience with the waiter so that he can also share it with his manager.
The answer we received: "the only thing I may be able to do is to apologize".
The "I may be" was too much, we decided to leave a go across the street.
When a place positioned itself as premium, the service is essential. At this restaurant, you don't even get what you would get at a diner!
We had a fantastic time celebrating a friend's birthday. The wait staff was superb, and the food was delicious.
One of our favorite places in NYC....great food!
Very attentive and kind service. They did not rush us to finish. Food and drinks above and beyond our expectations. Will be back soon.
Great food, great service. Beautiful venue and lovely ambiance. Expected it to be quieter.
Beautiful place. Most food excellent. They were aggressive with the service as if anxious to turn table—palpable! Falafel was dry. Otherwise nice night out—but noisy!
A special night out. The food was excellent. Ditto service and decor. Highly recommended.
Barbounia offers great food in a trendy, sexy environment. The service is always really good.
Love this place
Wonderful food choices and service to match in a warm and inviting atmosphere
Sommelier is excellent, makes the dinner an experience!
Food was good, service was terrible. We had to ask someone to get our waiter twice and finally stood up and walked over to him just to place our order.
Service was not great at all and they messed up both our omelette orders which were not that difficult , dirty dishes left for a very long time,
Very disappointing experience especially with an out of town visitor. Will not be back anytime soon.
Special occasion dinner. Food was wonderful. Service fantastic.
I will always love this place the food is delicious and they don’t Get five from me because wait time is beyond ridiculous as we waited 50 minutes to see our lunch. Staff is great so not on them.
Had the best table!
I've been coming here for years because of the consistency of the food and the service. Together with the ambiance and stiff drinks it remains a go-to for me.
We were not informed when booking a 3:30 reservation that only the brunch menu would be available and the kitchen would stop taking orders at 3:40.
I am generally disappointed with Mediterranean restaurants. Food is often bland and must ok. I was pleasantly surprised! Everything was seasoned and tasty. Cocktails were mixed properly. Service was attentive. We enjoyed the evening and will return.
The bartender was a bit dismissive for no reason. The cocktail I ordered said gin, lavender grapefruit and orange bitters. It came to me tasting like simple syrup and grapefruit juice. Honestly, not good. Took almost 10 minutes for my guest and I to order. Will have to pass on this place in future.
Great place. Very pretty. Food was great. They don't have a huge menu but what they have is great.
It is a bit tight. I ended up having a nice chat with the guy next to me. People were very friendly.
Service was very attentive. They truly seemed to care and wanting you to have a good experience.
Even the hostess came over to chat at on point. Very friendly place.
We had a great time. We went for brunch. Unlimited bottomless brunch for 20$ until 4pm. 1.5 hours at the table while you enjoy your food then you can head over to the bar and keep doing your bottomless until 4:00. All of the food was super fresh and delicious. They give generous portions. The ambiance is wonderful. Service is excellent. Finally, the calamari is a must have. It is some of the best I have ever had. I will definitely be returning in the near future.
As always, delicious, creative, completely enjoyable meal with friends.
Barbounia is one of my favorite restaurants, but this time the waiter was rushing us out of the place, and there were plenty of open tables available. We were asked for our food orders, with no more than one minute of receiving them. This should be addressed with the server. We were well aware that our reservation was for 1.5hr, but we don't need to feel pushed out of the restaurant.
excellent grilled fish and meats and Mezza and salads.
I have been to Barbounia before and went there again for my birthday. Unfortunately I never recieved my food...on my birthday.
