We had been there in the past and couldn’t wait to return to NYC to dine there again. We were somewhat disappointed, unfortunately. Service was only mediocre, despite having adequate numbers of staff and the food was “just OK.” Don’t thin we’ll go back, sadly
Great place. Dated decor
Website showed a regular and a pre fixe menu. They only had the pre fixe and there was very little I liked. Pasta was ok but sauce seemed baked on- kept under a warmer too long? It was very noisy but I understand that it was 6:30 so a lot of theatre people. Overall it felt like an assembly line of pre made courses.
It appears they only have prefix dinners. for prices in New York 70.00 is pretty good but very limited choice and the food was just ok. We advised that we weren’t going to a show but that didn’t matter. Just pre fix dinner and fairly Fast service
Service and meal were excellent. The atmosphere was very relaxing. It was close to the theater.
Lovely garden, delicious lunch and fine service!
Amazing food with amazing service!
excellent choice for pre-theater. Surprisingly high quality food given the large number of meals they are serving in a short time.
Absolutely the best gnocchi I have ever tasted, wonderful. Classic old school Italian restaurant. We’ll done.
Wonderful decor with good prices that don't break the bank and a place that's sure to impress any person you're trying to take here
It was the best food I've had in Manhattan in a long time. But we did pay for it. Food and ambiance was outstanding, but it was expensive.
A gathering for a birthday celebration. Everything was divine! We dined in the outdoor garden. Perfection.
Barbetta is magnificent, the garden is absolutely divine. It seems like everyone comes pre-theatre because by 7:45 it was absolutely empty. Nevertheless, it's a very special place.
My husband and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary in their beautiful garden before heading to a show. The food and the service were great as well. Great place for a special occasion, or to take friends from out of town for an authentic old New York restaurant experience.
An NYC classic that’s perfect for grownups to enjoy Pre theater.
An amazing restaurant we've eaten at many times over the years. A perfect place for a pre-theater meal. We are so happy they have reopened after being closed during the pandemic. It's like they didn't skip a beat. Wonderful as it has always been.
Really good! A gem to find in NYC. We ate outside which was awesome. Really enjoyed our conversations with the hosting staff.
Excellent food and service. Definitely a special place, even in NYC.
We were able to book a table at the last minute which we really appreciated. The ambience is beyond compare. Our food was delicious, however, we were rushed because there must have been a miscommunication somewhere between taking our order and getting it to us. We had indicated we had show tickets but it still took us over 45 minutes to get our second course which was salad served to us. They ended up bringing it with our dinners and we shoveled down our desert while waiting for them to return with our credit card receipts. Other than that, it was delightful, beautiful, and I would absolutely return.
Excellent pre-theater dinner.
Terrible food, not a lot of options. Looks like a tourist trap
People who work there have no knowledge about their alcohol selection. I ask what kind of tequila they had and could not get an answer.
Dinner at Barbetta was an excellent experience. The food was delicious, the ambience was very pleasant and the service was very good. I would highly recommend Barbetta to those wanting a NY experience with a European flair!
Barbetta remains a beautiful, classical, charming restaurant with the consummate professional staff serving a lovely well prepared and served meal. We have been there many times and are happy to be back to enjoy their spectacular dinner followed by theater!
Business meal with guests from Turkey. Extremely disappointed that the restaurant could not give us a printed receipt with the restaurant name on it for our dinner, making it impossible to claim the money back through our expenses. They were also not prepared to give us the cash we paid back so we could get a receipt from paying by credit card payment as they had locked the drawer and were not prepared to open it to get our concern resolved. The staff were more interested in going home than making sure after spending over $700 that we could get this arranged.
The food was good but not excellent. The place is fantastic such a shame.
Walked into this reservation with little to no expectations. It was in the theater district and that’s why we chose it. When we showed up the place seemed deserted. We were escorted to our seat by what I could swear was one of Joey Tribiani’s sisters from Friends. Tight leather skirt and big hair 😄. The patio is a magical oasis in the middle of NYC. The food was great and a good value. Prix Fixe menu has several good choices, we had the fillet with a red wine sauce. You get an appetizer, main course, salad and dessert. We’ll be back!
We had an excellent meal in the lovely garden. The food was very tasty, and the staff was friendly, efficient, and went the extra mile to serve us. Mr Ahmed, the maitre d, was especially helpful.
Menu choices limited. Food was just average, for that price...
Too many other better options available in the area
My mother abs I had an in between dinner hour meal here. Our server Elvis was delightful. We both enjoyed the recommended wine, pasta and desert. I didn’t care for the braised beef dish. The menu was only pre dinner prize fixe, which was a disappointment. Loved the ambiance however.
Came here for an after-theatre dinner with my best friend who was visiting from out of town (she grew up in NYC). Was blown away by the old school ambience, delicious food, and attentive, professional staff. We enjoyed the pre-fixe menu and for two of us, with a bottle of wine recommended by the staff, the bill was only $285. Would definitely come back to enjoy another meal at this classic establishment.
We ordered the price fixe menu.
The pasta was well past al dente and there was so much sauce that the pasta was swimming in it. They had already shredded Parmesan on it instead of asking if we wanted any.
Both entrees and the salads were lackluster.
The chocolate moose was great. The lemon tart was not.
I have dined at Barbetta many times prepandemic. It is not the kitchen it used to be.
The food is very good, and on a value and venue basis, is a 5-star experience. It's a beautiful old room in a building comprised of two famous townhomes joined together. Yes, certain elements could stand updating, but I didn't find that a detractor. And, it's one of the loveliest outdoor garden experiences in NYC.
My daughters had never eaten there and were very impressed with the service quality and presentation. Its an experience that everyone should have at least once!
We went for a special occasion, which is an annual thing, and the food was delicious tasting and beautifully presented. The staff were all wonderful. The garden is lovely.
Love the garden. Wonderful for pre thester
Bit pricey for pasta and meat sauce -
You don't go strictly for the food. A wonderful old school NY experience where they make you feel special.
Beautiful garden, excellent wine list.
Absolutely loved Barbetta and will be back!
We had a fantastic meal in a gorgeous room, with excellent service.
