I can't wait to go back on my next visit to NYC.
Ambience is tired. Food was good. Staff was attentive. Expensive.
We had been there 9 years ago and had a wonderful evening. The restaurant has seen better days. There were very few people there but they seated us way back in the corner. The food was below average and the dining room needs updated as does the entrance and the bar area.
We had a very special evening nine years ago and were looking forward to going back for a nice evening. We will not go back, which breaks my heart as it has been so diminished that it almost ruins the memory of a great time the first time.
My husband and I try to go to Barbetta when we go to a Broadway show in the area. The pre-theater price fixe menu has wonderful choices and is just the right amount of food. The service is always great.
After a business trip to NY, went to this restaurant with a coworker. Picked it based on on-line pictures, and did not have time to see any feedback. The place looked ok - nothing special. The service was less than mediocre - even rude. Waited forever for someone to take our order. When I asked for recommendation, the waiter said "everything" and walked away. For the prices they charge, the food was just ok, but for the prices they charge it was definitely not what I expected. Very disappointed!
Excelente Restaurante, perfectamente ubicado y el Filete con Vino tinto y el Risotto de Mushroom espectaculares!! acompañados de Vino Tinto Amarone una delicia.
Beautiful restaurant and great food! Very close to the Hamilton theater
Very romantic, dim lights, not too loud...the piano player was phenomenal and added just the right touch. Wait staff was attentive and the head waiter was very friendly. We had the 'pre-show' menu for $58 each...well worth it.
Beautiful restaurant with great waitstaff and delicious food in theatre district.
Dinner was excellent, the surroundings are beautiful and from another era. Eduardo made the evening even more special. By the time we left, he was a close friend. It was also exciting to see Glenn Close and Andrew Lloyd Weber having dinner together.
A quaint NYC pre- or post- theatre staple. This place definitely has old NYC charm but doesn't sacrifice quality for a theme or style. The food is second to none and the atmosphere is a must see for anyone visiting the city
Eduardo was a fantastic host. Always enjoy dining there
I had a great Birthday dinner last night. The ambiance the decor service and food was excellent. Big shout out to Eduardo who was a gem and very helpful with menu selection and choices.
We were excited about trying this historic restaurant, but all in our party were very disappointed. Food was not hot and didn’t live up to expectations. Perhaps the staff has gotten complacent. We were told the long delay in service was because they had three floors of customers to serve, but for a restaurant in business as long as this one, that explanation rang very hollow.
This is a weird review. The food was fine. But there wasn't the correct menu! Hostess and wait staff were excellent: pleasant, knowledgable, attentive. I made a reservation for more than 2 hours before curtain-time, to allow plenty of time for an unhurried meal. I reviewed their OpenTable menus online and we were looking forward to ordering some attractive specialties from their full dinner menu. BUT... when we were seated in the main room we were told only pre-theatre menu ordering was allowed, meaning many of those anticipated full-menu dishes were not available. I've double-checked their website and other resources and nowhere does it say that only pre-theatre prix fixe dinner will be served in that time window. This is strange -- I expected to pay as much as $300-$400 for upscale entrees and drinks and wine -- but I paid only a bit more than half that amount and here I am complaining. I suppose I just don't appreciate misleading information from an established restaurant.
We arrived to empty restaurant and it filled fast it was loud service was slow and for some reason there was a prefixed menu that we were unaware of. Overall the portions were small and I did t enjoy the food at all. Disappointing and expensive restaurant.
Looking at the pictures on opentable and on yelp thought this was the perfect place to take a date especially since they had a prefix menu and a swing band scheduled. This place was dry and disappointing in every way. The waiter that serviced us had a dirty uniform pen marks and stains throughout. Place was quiet as can be felt like a library. Food was forgettable and tasteless. Swing band non-existent there was a violinist but that wasn’t what was advertised. The downstairs where the swing band was supposed to be looked like the ballroom scene in the shining. The people in the movie had more life than the people in this restaurant. This place was labeled as a sure fire closer on this day it was not good thing this wasn’t a first date.
Amazing Valentine's Day with my woman. We had a fabulous time!
WE DINED AT BARBETTA FOR VALENTINES DAY AND ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE ENTIRE EXPERIENCE. WHEN YOU WALK IN YOU UNDERSTAND WHY THIS PLACE HAS BEEN AROUND FOR 110 YEARS. THE CHARM AND AMBIANCE WAS WONDERFUL. BY LOOKING AROUND THE ROOM, IT WAS CLEAR THEY HAVE A LARGE LOCAL FOLLOWING. THE MENU WAS PRIX FIXED AND DELICIOUS. WE WILL BE BACK AGAIN TO SAMPLE THE REGULAR MENU AND TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THEIR COURTYARD SEATING. THEY HAD A JAZZ TRIO PLAYING MUSIC AND IT WAS SO FUN SEEING COUPLES TAKE TO THE DANCE FLOOR BETWEEN MEAL COURSES. WE WERE ASTOUNDED BY THE PRICE TOO, VERY REASONABLE! IT WAS A VERY SPECIAL WAY TO SPEND VALENTINES DAY IN THE CITY AND WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND BARBETTA!!
Amazing restaurant with a gorgeous, historic atmosphere.
One our favorite places in the theatre district
Compared to other Theatre District restaurants, Barbetta is decent.
Black tie service. Service as would be expected. Wonderful food. Reasonable price fix menu.
We try to eat at Barbetta at least once on our annual February trip to NYC and it never disappoints !
