Drinks were good and so was appetizer-- a pecial grilled sardines, but the main dish, chicken. was dry.
Went for an early dinner before a show. The staff was very friendly, attentive and accommodating and did not hover. The branzino in salt was outstanding!!!! It was beautifully prepared and plated; clean, fresh, moist and tender with incredible flavor. Perfect meal.
Old world dining in a small, lovely, comfy room. Be sure to listen to the specials before ordering, otherwise you may miss something extraordinary like branzino baked in salt.
Had a perfect lunch with my childhood friend who recommended we meet up here. She had discovered it on her previous trips to the Upper East Side and I'm glad she chose this place for us to lunch at! The service was excellent - very attentive and customer friendly. The venue is small but very cozy and clean.
The food was delicious and very fresh. We ordered an arugula salad with beets, burrata cheese with prosciutto and tomatoes, carbonara fettuccini with shrimp, an entire branzino grilled to perfection, and tiramisu and chocolate gelato for dessert. Wines are only sold by the bottle but they are very moderately priced, so we had ourselves a feast with our pinot grigio.
All in all, I would say it was an excellent dining experience and one I would recommend to anyone traveling to the Upper East Side and in the mood for Italian.
Food is always good. Restaurant is relatively small, tables close together and always crowded making noise level sometimes difficult for conversation. Prices are reasonable but the charge of $3.00 for sharing large salad and $5.00 for entree is excessive, particularly when sharing the whole branzino.
Consistently excellent. Perfectly prepared pastas and an attentive skilled staff.
Had a lovely dinner with a former classmate from high school and we had a splendid and delicious evening. We normally meet at Barbaresco for lunch every three months or so and find it friendly, relaxed and a good spot for conversation and catch up. Food always keeps us coming back!
A friend recommended Barbaresco and said that it is a local 'gem'....but we were so disappointed and will probably never trust his recommendations again! We WERE greeted beautifully by the host and staff, and then seated at a quiet corner table, per our request. Within a minute, we remarked to the waiter that there was an permeating odor, which we thought it was paint or insecticide, but it turned out to be a smell from an oil leak earlier in the day in their basement. We moved our table closer to the front of the restaurant and though the smell still pervaded the restaurant, it was a bit better closer to the doors. Putting that behind us, we ordered our dinners, some from the menu and some from the specials of the evening. We had shared appetizers of mussels....which were very fair and tasteless....and Burratta....which was good, but not great. For our main courses, two of us shared the pasta and seafood special, which was again very, very fair, and the third diner had one of the chicken dinners, rated very fair as well. Please know that we are seasoned diners and that this meal was simply inferior from start to finish. With the plethora of really good restaurants in the city, I'm shocked that Barbaresco is still around. However, given the recommendation from our friend, I would hope that this was just an 'off day'. Regardless, we will not go back.
Staff is attentive and funny. The food is good. We had theater tickets nearby and they got us in and out.
My favorite place close to SVF lunch after mass!
It’s like going home to celebrate Easter! A big welcome when you enter & a table is always waiting for you! Wine & food very tasty & beautifully presented! Johny & Mario treat you like kings & queens👍
Keep up the great work 😍
Hats off to Gus & Tony
The attitude of the waiter leaves a lot to be desired
This is a favorite neighborhood venue. The foot is predictable and consistently excellent. The service is warm and attentive. Highly recommended.
Cozy atmosphere and great service. Delicious antipasti and good Italian traditional primo and secondo piatos. Wine list mainly with delicious Italian wines especially the Barbaresco wines.
Very nice. No Oprah sittings though!
This restaurant is a go to when meeting friends. It has a lovely atmosphere and the staff is warm and welcoming. The food is consistently well prepared and delicious. This is a beautiful neighborhood restaurant.
Barbaresco never disappoints. Great friendly efficient staff. Good drinks delicious food.
good italian restaurant near bloomingdales. food and desserts are standard and safe. I made a reservation and said it was my wife's birthday. they did nothing to acknowledge this. noisy and cramped.
Perfect early dinner spot for 3! Excellent pasta and veal dishes. I would definitely come back again.
We chose this restaurant due to location which was perfect for our needs. We felt the food was average and pricey. Atmosphere was cozy and service was good.
Excellent fresh food and very comfortable and cozy atmosphere.
Nice place to have dinner. Cozy and intimate. Food is good as is the service. Completely enjoyable on every account.
ask for Carlo..He is old style and will make your lunch/dinner enjoyable. .never been disappointed.. Buon Appetite
Quiet meal. Responsive service. Food was excellent. Branzino
We chose Barbaresco for its varied menu, because we had a picky eater with us. Indeed, it was one of those places where you have a hard time choosing, because there are so many delicious-sounding choices. The grilled squid was the most tender I have ever had, with a delicious sauce. My date loved his veal chop, although as one of the specials it proved to be costlier than he had anticipated (restaurants, please tell your servers to give prices with the specials!) And our picky eater was delighted with her ravioli. Service was very professional and unobtrusive. It seems to attract an older neighborhood crowd but was very comfortable and welcoming for us first timers too. Highly recommended.
We discovered this friendly, cozy restaurant last year on our annual December trip to New York. It has a neighborhood feel which we liked. We vowed we would return, and were not disappointed. The seafood special was excellent, the pasta fresh, and the chocolate cake to die for. The service was welcoming and attentive. We’ll be back again!
This was our second time here and we were not disappointed. Great food and service and a wonderful wine selection. We will be back!
food is always excellent; service polite and a very good selection.
Barbaresco never disappoints. They always have great soups. The duck was wonderful and the branzino delicious. The waiters and bartender are great.
Super as always! Food , drink & service. The veal parm filled 3/4 of the plate & was tender & the sauce delicious!
Went back for business lunch today with 4 friends. Equally delicious 😋
It’s a very neighborhood restaurant, family ,cozy and good food. The specials are always very good. Whole dorada is excellent and the ravioli. We go there often and we are always satisfied. Good wine list.
Always good atmosphere and food in this cozy reliable restaurant.
We loved the branzino. The food and service are always excellent .
Great as always. Food is excellent. Tasty and well presented, combine that with friendly fabulous service and you have a great night. It is consistently excellent.
My favorite dining spot! Very welcoming & friendly! All of the staff are polite, attentive & experienced! My meals are always perfectly cooked & flavorful! An east side restaurant very worth the price!!
Barbaresco never fails to please. The food is always good and the staff very friendly and welcoming.
Dinner for two on a Saturday evening. The food was moderate at best -- my daughter left most of her swordfish because it was not cooked through and she did not feel inclined to wait for it to be cooked more. The waiter seemed to be in a hurry. He did not know what a kir (white wine and casssis) is and brought me a glass full of just cassis. Amateur hour.
Very warm and cozy in Barbaresco and servers take good care of you.
Swordfish and pasta were good, and would order again, but not so outstanding where i would increase their rating. Food was good, consistent and we enjoyed it.
I do like Barbaresco !
Busy but rather quiet. Elegant, understated ambiance with comfortable seating and sufficient space between tables. The food was well prepared and service was very prompt, friendly and efficient.
Love this place!!
Very noise and the service whas'nt good. The food is very good and the pasta at right point.
We enter at the saloon and the manager look our page on the celular (open table) and said as he didn't know what it's, and after these I give my name and then he finded.
