Barbaresco Ratings and Reviews
We chose Barbaresco for its varied menu, because we had a picky eater with us. Indeed, it was one of those places where you have a hard time choosing, because there are so many delicious-sounding choices. The grilled squid was the most tender I have ever had, with a delicious sauce. My date loved his veal chop, although as one of the specials it proved to be costlier than he had anticipated (restaurants, please tell your servers to give prices with the specials!) And our picky eater was delighted with her ravioli. Service was very professional and unobtrusive. It seems to attract an older neighborhood crowd but was very comfortable and welcoming for us first timers too. Highly recommended.
We discovered this friendly, cozy restaurant last year on our annual December trip to New York. It has a neighborhood feel which we liked. We vowed we would return, and were not disappointed. The seafood special was excellent, the pasta fresh, and the chocolate cake to die for. The service was welcoming and attentive. We’ll be back again!
Dinner for two on a Saturday evening. The food was moderate at best -- my daughter left most of her swordfish because it was not cooked through and she did not feel inclined to wait for it to be cooked more. The waiter seemed to be in a hurry. He did not know what a kir (white wine and casssis) is and brought me a glass full of just cassis. Amateur hour.
Very noise and the service whas'nt good. The food is very good and the pasta at right point.
We enter at the saloon and the manager look our page on the celular (open table) and said as he didn't know what it's, and after these I give my name and then he finded.
This was so noisy.i could not hear the person I came with...I asked for a wine menu...didn't have one. The wine I got was good, but expensive. I never had Italian tomato sauce on salmon...it did not belong there/I was hurried to finish...iut was not a relaxing dinner I had looked forward to.
We came here to meet relatives for an early dinner and I was impressed with the attention given by all the servers. We ordered Mozarella di bufala caprese, Pappardelle con pollo, Calamaretti, & Penne Incazzate. Everything was so delicious!!! Desserts were not included in the Menu but they do serve them. We had Tiramisu and Orange sorbet.
Pricey but worth it!
Everything was good. Problem is they open the expansive front window and door. Restaurant becomes hot. The real issue is the cigarette smoke and car fumes that fill the restaurant. Dining becomes unbearable. Restaurants are supposed to be smoke free by law. This isn't. Cannot eat here.
Always enjoy Barbaresco and go there a lot. Neighborhood favorite, now that Da Fillipo is gone. ( It turned into an air exchange for the 2nd Ave Subway. Still miss it.) The carpaccio is great-Swordfish and bronzino also good.Ravioli usually good, except for when they put gross things in it like sweet potatoes.
Decided to make a reservation at the last minute. When I arrived the restaurant was very busy, but Charlie greeted me at the entrance & showed me a table right away !!
I had a glass of wine almost before I sat down!!
The food was excellent as it is most of the time!!
Barbaresco is certainly my favorite place to go and have a great time!
We walked past and checked out the menu. Made a reso for Friday night for 2. It's a small, cute Italian restaurant in a terrific location. The food was not as exciting as we hoped. My salmon was covered with a tomato sauce which camouflaged the wonderful taste of salmon. I'd rather it was sautéed with lemon and butter/ garlic and left alone. My husband found his dish ordinary. The bread on the table was ordinary. In short, it's not a restaurant we will return to.
Service was good and the waiters are authentically Italian.
I stated off with the tomato soup. Then I shared the branzino special and spaghetti with tomato sauce. The dishes were split in the kitchen and the portions were still large and the food delicious. Service was impeccable. I've never been disappointed at Barbaresco.
