Such a lovely dinner and service was wonderful! I can't wait to go back
Barbareno is a true neighborhood gem! We enjoyed our dinner so much. Thankfully our wonderful server was able to guide us through the menu of savory local offerings with a glass of sparkling rose. We enjoyed the grilled avocado and tuna carpaccio appetizer and shared the melt-in-your-mouth trip tip entree and brussel sprouts side dish. The date cake was a little dry, but the eucalyptus panna cotta was weirdly enjoyable! Can't wait to return!
We had an outstanding experience at Barbareno! The food was delicious, interesting and surprising. The service was really gracious, friendly and unobtrusive. The atmosphere was lovely, almost like dining in an upscale lodge (lots of wood and soft lighting). We were there on a windy evening, so didn't sit outside, but they have a very inviting covered patio with heat lamps. We will definitely be back to this neighborhood gem!
Had an amazing dinner here! The lamb flatbread and grilled avocado were delicious! Thanks to Jesse and the whole crew!
I should preface that we were visiting from up north, so totally didn't have out bearings about us, but completely unexpected given it's location. We chose to sit outside and were so pleased with how they've utilized that space - even little trees and plants used as walls to block out other guests made it seem more private. The homemade bread is delicious, as was everything else we tasted. Nice clean salads and the burger was delicious! The staff was absolutely lovely, patient, and super knowledgable about wine and the what the local area produces. I'd definitely go back in a heartbeat next time I'm in SB.
Beautiful spot with great service but food was either over seasoned or under seasoned.
A neighborhood gem. Unless you live in the ‘hood or have a friend that does you’d be hard pressed to find this restaurant 2 blocks off of State Street. Local food, quality preparation and presentation makes Barbareño worth seeking out.
The ambiance was great and the food was well prepared; however, it was quite expensive for the type of food and wine on the menu. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly though I probably won’t be returning.
So perfect! Can’t believe how good the food was.
Had a nice inside table and great waiter, Martin. Started with egg McMuffin. Delious. I had halibut Very fresh and fantastic. Shared with partner. Mushroom Tagliatelle. Also very good. And of course Brussels sprout dish which is reason enough to eat dinner here. Dessert was like a version of Baked Alaska but citrus made it perfect. Thank you
Our server Emily kept disappearing on us. She didn’t ask if we wanted drinks. I had to go find her and tell her our table needed drinks. Two of us ordered hamburger and one of the potato side dishes had long hair with the food. So we sent it back.
Food was good but the server experience and the long strand of hair in the side dish will probably not make us want to go back.
Absolutely amazing in every dining category!!!! The best dining experience I have ever had at any restaurant❤️❤️❤️
Very eclectic place with great food and great service. We particularly liked the grilled avocado appetizer. The wine list was also outstanding. We will definitely go here again the next time we come to Santa Barbara
Thank you! We really enjoyed the evening very much! The food, the service, the company, all were superb!!!
So glad we found this restaurant. Our meals were excellent and our waiter was thoughtful and well informed. The tri-tip was amazing and the grilled avocado was layered in flavors. I had a delicious Piedrasassi Syrah: a good recommendation from our waiter. Will definitely be back on our next trip up the coast.
Such an incredible place to eat - we went back two nights in a row on our trip to Santa Barbara from the UK! Wonderful food and amazing service.
We enjoyed our whole experience. Food and staff could not have been better!!
This is one of my favorite restaurants anywhere. They can be subtle, playful, bold, and classic, all with impeccable quality. It's part of the reason we visit Santa Barbara, and it seems to embody what we love about that town. Let them recommend a wine pairing!
Food (especially the appetizers) and service were outstanding! The restaurant itself is very charming.
This is my second time at Barbareno and it was just a delightful of an experience as the first time. It is the perfect place to go if you're visiting Santa Barbara because the cuisine is wonderfully inspired by the region. The staff is so kind and welcoming and the atmosphere is cozy but fresh in such a unique way.
Our Barbareno experience was outstanding! The food was exceptional, the wait staff was very knowledgeable and accommodating. The ambiance was perfect. We are looking forward to our next visit to Santa Barbara as we will most definitely dine at Barbareno again. We absolutely loved Chef Preston's creative culinary menu, tried a handful of dishes and enjoyed every single one! Cheers and much aloha! Til the next time!
Wonderful experience last night at Barbareño! Service was excellent, as staff were knowledgeable and friendly. Don't overlook the side of brussel sprouts. You won't be disappointed.
Service, atmosphere, food was all unique and memorable. Great dinner and time.
Great unique and creative seasonal dishes that are full of flavor.
This is my wife and I 3rd time to Barbareno. Each time food was explained and wonderful. Staff has clearly been trained well not just on the menu but also on the beer and wine list. They also take axxess cards which is always a plus.
Came to visit Santa Barbara from Los Angeles and wanted something different. The food here was exceptionally unique. Very happy I found this place!
Delish, organic, great cuisine
We had an amazing family dinner at Barbareño! Our favorite ordered items were hamachi, lamb appetizer, and duck buns, pecan Carmel ice cream dessert. Everything was delicious. We will definitely book this restaurant next time we’re in town.
It was so loud we could not hear the people at our table talk; and we were there to catch-up on how they doing. This was unexpected esp. on a week night and we will probably not go back.
Always love this place! The patio is such a nice spot & the servers are all friendly & knowledgeable. Food is solid. Wine list is great for excellent quality local wine.
Outstanding all around. I was no expecting such refined cuisine with impeccable technique and ingredients. This is a fine dining restaurant at a relaxed casual experience with a very reasonable price for the quality of the meal. Go.
Great use of local, seasonal ingredients. Incredible flavors. Attentive, knowledgeable service.
Barbareno is a lovely little gem in Santa Barbara. Hip, modern decor match the thoughtful menu that shouts of an inspired-chef sharing their love of the region. Service was patient and attentive throughout. We will definitely be back.
Really amazing experience! Great service and good food. The only thing that was disappointing was the flatbread was burnt but that is a small complaint for a great dinner. The Crudo was both of our favorites of the night!
Barbareño is one of my favorite restaurants in Santa Barbara. Excellent food, perfect service, and fabulous ambiance!
The concise menu validates that everything is good, a several items are exceptional. Our group shared six dishes, all received a thumbs up, but the Eggamuffins, Santa Maria BBQ, Especial (lamb) were ridiculously memorable! The service provided by Philip mirrored the incredible dishes.
What’s a treat! This chef is absolutely amazing. The service was top notch as well. Lucky to have a place like this in our back yard. Will be back.
The food, service, ambiance was fantastic. Server Doug was amazing.
Great food, great service, great wine list. Only critique would be the slight confusion in the beginning with who our server was but after the initial order is apparent. Might have been a fluke but they were all great servers from what we could see and would have been happy with either of them.
Everyone has to try the semifredo. It was sin on a plate.
Enjoyed our dinner. Farm to table Santa Barbara cuisine. We had the Panzanella salad with delicata squash and apples which was OK not great. Everything else was great, starting with the home made sour dough bread and butter. We had the Ranch fired chicken and the local black cod in miso as our mains. Both were excellent.
