Barbareño

Restaurant was closed. I drove all the way from LA for 2 hours to celebrate my wife’s birthday. Yelp and answering machine said they were open and doing outdoor sitting. We get there and they’re closed.

Our favorite restaurant in Santa Barbara. Excellent delicious food, top notch service in a beautiful surrounding.

The level of skill and attention to every detail is discernable with every dish. Recommended are Eggamuggin, lamb taco called "Especial," the house bread, the Acorn Tagliatelle, and the Baked Californian (dine in only). And if you are super hungry order the burger with their super tasty potatoes, very generous portions.

This was a special occasion for two love birds enjoying a getaway to SB! We wished we lived closer to enjoy this amazing experience every weekend!

Outdoor dining in the cool evening of fall during a pandemic is difficult and Barbareno made it safe, beautiful, and very tasty. Take a blanket to keep yourself warm (because they don't have blankets to share during the pandemic but normally they do). You will enjoy your meal here.

Barbareno is just above and beyond. The service is excellent, friendly and efficient. The food is just amazing. The flavors that are paired together leave you equally trying to guess all the ingredients and amazed by the blending of flavors. The final outcome in every dish was just fantastic. If you want a wonderful dining experience, Barbareno is it. Very safe COVID set-up and quite festive looking as well!

I dined here for my anniversary with my husband. Our waiter provided top knotch service. Recommended good selections in cider and provided insight into the thoughtfulness that the restaurant puts into selecting all the ingredients that go into their dishes. I ordered the Market Fish as my entree and my husband the Tri tip steak. Both dishes were outstanding. It made for a very good experience through covid. To add we were dining outside in their parking lot patio conversion and were required to wear face masks every time we interacted with the staff. They made sure we were warm with heaters as well.

Wonderful, innovative food. Don't miss the animal potatoes, panzanella, and the "honey" dessert. Fish was excellent. Service was excellent. We got there a little early and were seated well distanced from other groups. Perfect!

Loved the food and the service! We stayed long and enjoyed the evening. Cushions on the chairs would have made it even more enjoyable.

I was seated early, as I arrived early, no waiting. The waiter made an effort to accommodate a special request. The bill was as suspected, they let's know about the extra charge for our special request. IT was quiet and lovely on the patio. The heaters kept us warm.
A varied menu that will serve a vegan and a big meat eater.

We were absolutely floored by Barbareno's commitment to showing Santa Barbara as a sense of place in their menu. We started with the Eggamuffins (surprising and sublime), then moved on to the Especial. Full disclosure, I don't eat lamb, but I tried my husband's dish and just about became a convert - such bright flavors! And the miso butter glazed strip steak? Eyes rolling back your head good - a major umami bomb. But it was Clay, our server, that really enhanced the whole package. We will definitely be back the next time we're in town!

Amazing! The New York strip and the chocolate dessert are life changing. The waiter was so knowledgeable and so attentive! We can’t wait to come back!

Really amazing and true 'California' cuisine. Every dish we had was excellent, and the staff was extremely knowledgable and shared a lot of information about the dishes which made the experience that much better.

Most amazing meal!

We ate here on Sunday following a grueling day of attending to a recent and sudden death in the family. We got there deflated and exhausted, we left well fed and hopeful. It might sound corny, but the food was so good and the atmosphere so cozy that we all considered it part of the healing process. Throughout the week when people would ask how we were, we'd say Sunday was the worst- except for the meal at Barbareno. It's kinda become a joke now- a much needed laugh. This restaurant should be your go to for its warm ambiance and truly unique menu.

First experience for all in our party and we will definitely be back! We especially were impressed when our waiter explained the recommendation for the new normal of keeping patrons and workers safe during Covid-19 dining. We were comfortable with the new rules by wearing our mask when necessary. Food was so delicious and we can't wait to return to try other dishes.

The food was tasty and flavorful. The menu is fairly short but inspired by local cuisine and ingredients are fresh and sourced locally. Service was prompt and attentive while not hovering. The staff exercised safe practices and social distancing procedures were in place.

Lovely spot for dining. We started with the Especial. Grilled lamb over fermented potato flat bread. Phenomenal. Shared beef over delicious pinto beans. Lastly, carnitas filled beignets! Marvelous Santa Barbara coast organic food. It doesn't get much better than this! We were so impressed by the staff. Very personable and knowledgeable also. Barbareño is a must try.

Barbareno is marvelous dining spot in downtown Santa Barbara. The outdoor seating is delightfully decorated with tiny white lights hanging from tree branches that surround the courtyard. Food is unusual and delicious. Pork beignets, chicken wings coated in mango sauce with a smooth banana infused sauce for dipping and a flat of pork tenderloin all were yummy but the topper was the fresh fruit on a platter with panna cotta and fresh honey comb. The staff is friendly, at your service and the experience is one you will come away from glad you found this restaurant.
