What Insiders Are Saying
Barawine is a wine bar in Harlem with a little dining room where they serve French-ish American food.
Second time we headed to Harlem for a dining experience and it was well worth the trip. There is a very nice wine selection and the food was delicious and the portions generous. The onion soup was great on a cool wet night, the salads very fresh. It was a little noisy, but we got used to it. We will definitely go back.
I always have a lovely time at Barawine. The staff is great, and so is the food. Special props to the hostess Sharde (sp?).
Excellent food and wine selection. Really enjoyed seating outside on 120 st. it's nice and quiet there.
The service was terrible. They only had one waitress for the entire restaurant! She had to handle both the inside and outside and therefore was unable to attend to every table. The food was also undercooked and not flavorful. I would only recommend the wine here.
Best food I've had in Harlem. Perfectly cooked, beautifully served, wait staff were attentive and knowledgeable, extensive wine selection. I wish I lived around the corner so I could go to Barawine all the time!
Outstanding and exceptional experience. Always a great choice. Barawine really captures and conveys Harlem both yesterday, today and hopefully will to do so in the future.
Great place, good service and ambience always a good choice!
A neighborhood gem! It needs to be more efficient with food timing and assigning tables. Overall good place. We more places like this one in Harlem! 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Overall Barawine is pretty good. Decent happy hour (bar only), outdoor seating, good food. Service was spotty—took too long to have someone take our order; when our steak came out medium well instead of medium rare, there wasn’t anyone to talk to about it. The hostess was super helpful and got everything fixed.
Great neighborhood restaurant; very energetic so very noisy especially if there are largish groups. The branzino was excellent. Great soups and salads. Going back soon.
Wonderful place, never disappoints! Food presentation is great and it's always delicious, ambiance and the lovely service just great.
Barawine is aesthetically beautiful and offers a great brunch at an affordable price. I have gone to Barawine for brunch many times and brought many groups and always enjoyed my experience but this past weekend it was different and not in a good way. I think they were probably short staffed and a lot busier than usual but that did not excuse the poor service we received. Our waitress was visibly irritated when she initially approached our table to take our orders but we decided to "brush it off as maybe she was having a bad day." Her mood continued throughout our experience and translated to long wait times to place additional food and drink orders, long wait times to receive food and refills on our drinks. Which was unusually as service is usually great here. Throughout our brunch experience, we were constantly asking for our waitress/server to come to our table. The food and drinks were great but it was like pulling teeth to get things order or get updates on pending items. To top it off, there was an extra charge on our bill for an item that we ordered but never came. Our waitress removed it once we pointed it out, but this was evidence of how our overall experience was... constantly having to request our waitress come to our table and remind her of items that were ordered and not received. In addition to that, when we pointed out that we weren't happy she got short with us and we decided to end to let things be. It didn't help that gratuity was already included. I am conflicted because I have been to Barawine many times and enjoyed my experience but the cohort of friends I was with this past weekend vowed to never go back which is sad because the service is sooo much better on other days. So, even though my rating today is bad, I would still recommend this place because I can't base it on one encounter.
While the food was good, the staff wasn’t too friendly. It may not be a place I would go to again.
Food is always very good here. The fries are amazing!!
Food was sub par which is not totally unexpected of places that offer bottomless brunch. However, the service was abysmal, we were seated 15-20 mins before our order was taken and we got our food an hour after we arrived. We also had to remind the waitress to keep bringing out our bottomless carafes of Bellinis/mimosas. Terrible service, will not be back
Been there twice, found that the outside service was very slow and not attentive. Food was good but portion was too small.
A bit of a wait but delicious!
Always a great time. And yes I will recommend to someone
The food, service and ambience are all terrific. On weekend nights, it's very noisy, because of the live DJ, who had the bar hopping.
It’s always nice to eat at Barawine! One of my favorite places to eat. Service is great and fast but they don’t rush you at all!! Great place for a date and just have casual conversation with good food and drinks!
Our favorite restaurant in the neighborhood. Delicious French bistro menu, very nice selection of wines, and a great staff (several of them Francophone Africans -- a terrific Paris-Dakar-New York fusion you could only find in Harlem). The restaurant also has a great energy and ambience. We've taken many friends there, and they've always been delighted.
Barawine is the gentrifier's hot spot. The food is decent, at best. It's supposed to be french food but there are a number of french restaurants in Harlem, priced equivalently, that are actually delicious. Only win here is french brunch + bottomless mimosas... that's really their saving grace.
Great experience and wonderful food. Great energy and atmosphere.
Food is wonderful and very French vibe.
Tip: Speak very clear when ordering as some of the servers were French and certain menu items sound similar
Great location in townhouse lined central Harlem; fab wine list with generous pours; delicious French bistro fare; friendly but spotty service.
Excellent, particularly service, beginning with greeter. Only issue was that we were seated at a table that was just below the heater vent, leaving us uncomfortably hot during our dinner.
Visiting from Norway with son- first time- recommended by local friend
Really like this restaurant. Excellent food, nice ambience, great selection of wine and friendly service. No complaints at all.
I’ve been here before and always enjoyed it. Service as usual very good and pleasant, taste of the food also good, but unfortunately both food and mimosa carafe were Luke warm. I like my food hot and my mimosa cold. The espresso was perfect.
great brunch. food was amazing. can get bit loud after 12:30pm, if you're with a fun group doesn't matter.
The dishes were perfect. Taste, seasoning and temperature.
Nice relaxing after work spot or nice enough for Birthday or a date. Mature crowd. Good ambiance music- jazz and R&b. Not too loud. Love the wine list always has a great full bodied red to drink.
Ambience was ok. Food was very salty and not fresh. Requested two separate bottles of red that were sold out. Settled for a white. Not worth a return.
Brunch with friends
Fabulous time. Great food and wine recommendations from the staff. Our hostess was lovely. The ceviche and risotto were grand. Will come again. At the end, We asked for strawberries on the creme brûlée that turned out brilliantly.
Wonderful local restaurant aspiring to be a bistro. Food is consistently good and nicely presented. The service staff needs a great deal of work. Too chatty and inattentive.
Fantastic from beginning to end. Delicious. Welcoming. Incredibly friendly and excellent service.
Killer Manhattans. (that's good)
The food was fantastic but the service was just ok. Had to walk over and ask for my own check and we were not checked in on very often.
All good: unfortunately difficulties with the wine list but would definitely go back! Loved the team!
