Great brunch spot with lively, eclectic crowd & really nice servers, plus some nice French menu innovations that make brunch options interesting.

Wonderful spot in Harlem. The front room has a long table for with "partner" seating next to each other with other groups across. There were tables in the back. Great ambience--when we went it was stylishly decorated for Halloween. The general mood of the patrons was lively and friendly--a few were dancing to the eclectic music from playhing--from jazz to disco. Wonderful understated French food--although the portions were a little small. We had the lamb and the duck which were quite good. I believe the drinks were confined to just wine--but a great list of bottles as well as individual glasses. The wall decorations also featured many wines, champagne, etc. A perfect place to stay for dinner or a glass of wine before moving off to the local jazz scene.

Good food, good wine but noisy for anything other than a purely social occasion.

We were about 15 minutes late to our reservation. Thankfully, there were ample seating available and once finding the host stand we were seated very quickly. Unfortunately it took us about 8 minutes to be greeted and to find the host stand. It wasn't until I stepped away from my date to find the host stand that she was approached by a shady gentleman (possibly owner?) wearing track clothes, asking if she needed help. Im sure it's a common thing for the owner in plain clothes and "around" but the track clothes and the inattentiveness was a very poor reflection of barawine. Our server maybe gave us the most neglectful service I've ever gotten. To the point that we refused getting dessert and let her know it was because she took about 20 minutes to check in with us inbetween every course. There was a constant huddling of this mysterious track suit man and the employees looking at his cell phone and talking, that we couldn't get our servers attention without me completely turning my head around and staring in their direction. Overall a very poor experience. Notably, the shrimp risotto and a lovely cotes du Rhone offered by the glass were great choices. The decor was beautiful. The live music was also a very nice touch. Unfortunately, it goes to show how important good service is and how hard it is to find. Would not recommend.

Ordered codfish which (1) didn’t taste like codfish and (2) way overcooked, rough like leather. Returned the dish and the second one was worse.

Nifty, charming joint with an interesting and diverse wine list - at least for the UWS / Harlem, where this is still a rarity. Excellent food and atmosphere. One star off for being understaffed - the main dining room has only one order taker who doubles as hostess, handling 40+ seats - and for the deafening music level. Playlist was excellent but it didn't need to be that loud to be so. But a definite repeat.

It was an early dinner on a Sat and our first time at Barawine and I am sure we will be back. Barawine is one of he best Harlem French style restaurants, the rooms are nicely decorated and all items we ordered were really good.

The food was mediocre the service even more so. The ambience was nice with live jazz but a little on the noisy side. My friend who is a vegetarian found very few choices and said her vegetables were very overlooked. My scallops were ok but nothing to write home about. Too expensive for what it is. The waitstaff seemed very overwhelmed.

Loved the decor, the love music, the vibes! Very nicely prepared and plated food, with good wine selections. Excellent beet salad and cerviche for appetizers; very good cod and lemon- grass mussels special for mains. Liked the separation of dining area and bar into two separate but mutually visible rooms. Contrary to complaints in some earlier reviews, the service was just fine. The outdoor seating area looks appealing, though it was raining the night we were there.

My only comment was in regards to our bartender - we were sitting at the bar, not at a table.
The place was not busy, and he was not really paying attention to us, to the point where he was right in front of us, but always with his back to us, and we had a hard time getting him to serve us more drinks.

He redeemed himself a bit at the end, as apparently I ordered a drink he created. He asked me how it was, to which I said that I liked it (I had the same drink twice), but I wished there was a bit more whiskey to cut the sweetness of the overall drink.

To that he poured me a shot of whiskey. That got him points.

The bar seemed to be hopping.

The waiters were polite but service could be improved.

Not the place for a quiet Friday evening dinner.

Downtown prices, uptown service.

Decided to sit outside, which was fine. My appetizer (cheese platter) and entree (Branzino in wine sauce) was superb. I had the sangria which was delicious. I only wish they were more attentive to their outside guests. Took forever for me to order, took forever for me to receive another drink and took forever for me to get the check. Just showed me to sit inside. Still a great experience and nice choice to catch up with a friend.

I brought a friend here to finish off her bday weekend with a nice brunch, and I wish I had chosen a different spot. The only positives were the outdoor seating and the nice server. We waited about 45 minutes for our food which was just a salad and eggs Benedict. They forgot my friend's home fries and I wanted my salad dressing on the side, but it was mixed in (too much). There was another couple sitting next to us who ordered before us and got their food after we finished eating. Either our orders were forgotten or the chef was taking a nap, who knows.
