Baraonda Ristorante & Bar Ratings and Reviews
Met up with a couple of former colleagues/current friends for dinner after a trade show at AmericasMart. Ordered the pasta with mushrooms, truffle oil and some sort of cream sauce. It was very good. I'm not a huge fan of certain mushrooms, so there were a bit too many of them for me, but I'm sure you'd love it if you like mushrooms. It was a good portion also. Enough for 2 meals. The wine was really good too. I asked for recommendations from the server as I'm not very knowledgeable of Italian wines, and ended up getting one that was delicious! Server was very friendly, nice, knowledgeable, but didn't check back very often.
I will be back as often as possible! My spouse ordered a pizza and it was thin, tasty and cooked to perfection. But my dish was the star that night ~ the Zuppa di Pesce. When I first looked at the menu I was a little disappointed to see the higher prices than I had expected, since we wanted a moderate and fast dinner before a basketball game. But once I received my meal, I knew that the price was actually a bargain! So much seafood was packed into my large bowl (shrimp, mussels, clams, calamari and 1/2 lobster tail) that I stuffed myself to finish every bite. It was served in a gorgeous, tomato-based, light broth that had the slightest bit of spicy heat to it. Clear and seasoned so perfectly that I dipped my bread repeatedly so none would be wasted. If I'd been going straight home, I would have taken some to go. The wine list was delicious and affordable. From the hosts to David, our server, everyone was efficient and good-natured. The drinks, meal and check were all perfect, and they validate parking. I wish I lived closer!
We went to Baronda before a show at the Fox. The service was very friendly and fast which was important since we were heading to a show. We got 2 pizzas and 2 salads ( for 4 women at lunch) and everything we delicious. The food is VERY flavorful and we all enjoyed our meal. I will definitely go back!
My wife and I like this restaurant because the quality of food is good. We love the prosciutto pizza and we normally ask them to add buffala cheese. The last 2-3 times we have been there we were disappointed to find out that they were not able to accommodate our request.
We remain loyal to this place and hope that they will take our recommendation next time we go there before / after going to the Fox theater.
Honestly the food just wasn’t good. I haven’t been since college and it used to be so authentic and the food lacked depth. The pasta tasted like it had jimmy dean sausage (no offense to jimmy dean- but at this price... NO). But our server was awesome- attentive but not annoying. Not worth the price. Figo is ten times better.
Came in for a nice dinner after driving 14 hours evacuating Florida for Irma. Were greeted casually and rushed to a table without any discussion of location or table type preference (the place was half empty) and were sat outside after requesting a move. The waiter was friendly, but very opinionated about quite a few things. The biggest issue was timing of everything. The server, despite being conversational, was rough around the edges, seemed we were an inconvenience. Drinks and app took way too long to come out, and came as though they'd been sitting a while (cool and soggy) and then main courses followed too quickly. They were also not particularly warm. Too bad because of the food itself was very good despite the temperature. I wouldn't go back with the many options available in Atlanta.
My friends and I have dined here for two years during our stay for DragonCon weekend and both experiences have been wonderful. David was very polite and attentive and took great care of us this year, and as expected, the food was delicious and well paced. All four party members ordered different dishes and it was compliments all around. We look forward to coming back!
My husband and I had reservations before a concert at Fox Theatre on our anniversary and will be heading back very soon. The pizza was AMAZING, service was superb, drinks strong, and ambiance just right.
We were seated immediately, within 5 minutes drink orders taken and on the table, and not much longer after that we were feasting on the best pizza that either of us has EVER had.
This was my third trip to Baraonda and certainly will not be my last. The service was fantastic and the food was beautifully prepared and delicious. I keep ordering the octopus...it is addictive as is the arugula salad. The risotto was rich and filling, a must have. I cannot say enough about the service, the attentiveness of the wait staff and the friendliness of everyone there.
Pizza was very good, and the ambiance was quite nice. The only drawbacks were that the physical space magnifies the sound, so it was VERY noisy in the restaurant. Additionally, our server was a bit pushy and forced. Despite his forced friendliness, it was challenging to get our drinks refilled. However, as I said before, the fire-grilled pizza was great.
Food was good. Had a decent wine selection as well. Wait staff did a good job but not exceptional. Sat in the bar area and went at a quiet time. Noise was not an issue and the atmosphere was good. Overall a good visit and would return to try a different food selection.
My husband and I love Bararonda. We had our first date here. We had our wedding reception here. We always had wonderful experiences before this evening. We decided to bring a friend from out-of-town here for the good food and drinks. We made a reservation for 10pm because we couldn't do any earlier. As we were seated (~9:55), we were told that the kitchen is closing at 10 ("They are staying open for just us."), and we would need to order everything right now or we wouldn't eat. I understand if the kitchen needs to close at 10, but DO NOT allow diners to make a reservation for this time if this is the case. We were rushed. The food was gross. And we received a less than desirable response when we brought it up to the manager. Go here earlier in the night to enjoy a good time. I hope to see that they fix there reservation times so no ones feels the way we did that evening. I was embarrassed that I recommended this place so highly to our friend.
Great food ... poorly run with horrible service . One side of the restaurant clearly needs some update on the HVAC ... HOT as hell and unfortunately that is where the wine storage is located ... red wine served from a room that was 80 degrees not such a great ideal !
Was at the restaurant for a date before going to see a concert down the street.
I ordered a beer. It took about 20 minutes for the beer to arrive. The reason given was the restaurant was crowded because of the concert. Ok, in that case, hire more bar workers.
My date ordered a salad.
It never arrived.
When our server finally came back, and we pointed out that the salad wasn't there, he seemed surprised.
The food was OK, not great, and certainly not worth the price.
Bar screwed up the service for everything. Ordered a drink before dinner and it never came. Main entree came out extremely fast and before any staff could even refill our water glasses so we just grabbed the water pitcher next to our table. The food was phenomenal. The service has work to do.
Had to ask for bread even though every other table had it before they sat down. Luckily the food is great enough to go back but the service was pretty bad.
Hadn't been here in some time, needed a place nearby for a business dinner and glad I picked them. Really great menu, including gluten free pasta! The 9 of us had a large variety and liked everything we had, including the desserts. Our server was even from Italy! Will have to keep this place in mind for a really good Italian restaurant in midtown (which is hard to find)
