I love this place!
Great place for a date or with your dog park friends!
I will most certainly be back.
The food was great, but overpriced and the service was pretty bad. They need more than one poor waitress for the entire place.
Very good food and cute French bistro
Service good have been better for the price point
A very nice 11:30 Sunday in Early May brunch before the movies. Liked the poached eggs and spinach on top of large artichoke slices. Would be even better if the chef put his very good biscuit halves on the bottom. Good home fries. Will return to try lunch and dinner menus.
Bar Six is a perfect neighborhood destination for delicious comfort French food and warm friendly ambiance
Absolutely great dining experience! A destination spot for sure.
My family and I have eaten here several times, usually for special occasions. We love the food and the drinks! The service is always good. It's a bit too noisy in the evenings. Love the Trio of Moroccan Dips, Chicken Tagine, Bisteeya and Pear Crumble!
The food portions have declined recently which is a disappointment compared to the previously more ample servings?
It was very crowded and it was good we had a reservation. There seemed to be a shortage of wait staff as it took time whenever we tried to get the waitresses' attention.
Always a delightful experience.
This is a great little place! Everything was perfect and I can't wait to return.
I was looking for a place near the path station for me, and booked a reservation for 8 based on the online reviews and pictures. Charming, cozy environment and excellent food. The zucchini chips were delicious, my son had the steak and frites which came with a very generous serving of delicious frites - we have a high bar for french fries and they didn't disappoint. We had a few vegans in the group and there were plenty of great options to choose from. Some of us arrived early enough for happy hour which helped with the overall price of the bill! The service was very good but could have been a little more attentive. Overall, a great experience.
Bar 6 is one of my favorite West Village restaurants. It has a really friendly, warm feel about it, always crowded with people of all ages—i.e. not just 20–30-somethings—but us more-mature folks and families, too. The food is great, especially the Moroccan specialties. The Chicken Tagine and the Moroccan shrimp dish I can't remember the name of were both outstanding. Highly recommend.
Always reliable, always something worth having on a decent menu of what I consider comfort food: juicy, giant burgers, Croque Monsieur (ham & cheese melt on pan toasted bread), really nice french onion soup and salads. Reasonable go-to destination for lunch or dinner or Sunday brunch.
Casual & relaxed great lunch
Just a very pleasant place to spend an evening. It's hard to think of a more comfortable and relaxing NY restaurant. My dining companion was almost an hour late, and, with a glass of wine I felt no pressure from the staff. This is remarkable and greatly appreciated.
The food was very good. A slight surfeit of olives in the Niçoise, and the bananas in the dessert pie a little underripe, but I'd definitely return.
This is a classic spot in NYC. Definitely recommend for a business lunch or when you are looking for quality service and all around good food. We came for lunch but their evening service and bar are great. Recommend a reservation since they can be busy during peak hours.
Great ambiance! Cosy spot- just what we wanted on a cold winter's night! Food was good- one dish, the veggie couscous- didn't match up. I would definitely go again!
We try to go to Bar Six every time I visit NYC - the chicken tagine is outstanding - but so is everything else we've tried there - risotto, bisteeya, their apps - in particular the cauliflower. It's a nice combo. of bar/restaurant vibe, and we've stayed many a night for more wine and dessert.
Friday February 15 at 7:45 pm.
All was good except tall bald with goatie Caucasian host was rude. I wanted to reconfirm that our dinning was recorder through Open table.
I asked him on my way out, his reply was “How many times I will ask?”.
This is our neighborhood restaurant and we been dining there many times.
I except an apology.

Had lunch @ Bar Six the other day & loved it. My friend was 15 minutes late & I was never rushed. The ambiance is that of an old, charming Paris Bistro & the food is spot on. We shared an omlette & kale/ricotta salad. The portions were generous & delicious. The noise level was low & there was no annoying background music so we could communicate & hear each other...refreshing for NYC. I will happily return again.
Good ambiance and pricing for a mix of French bistro and Moroccan fare. Mussels an outstanding appetizer, but I must also add that the bistilla was disappointing, a bit dry with too much shell around it on an unappealing bed of ratatouille. Still, I'd give them another try.
Suitable for friends or informal business dates. People I bring here always love it.
The food was tasty and of value however our sever would not split an app of soup which did serve two once we asked for a coffee cup to split the serving. The heat in the place was beyond what was necessary for the weather that day so made it a bit uncomfortable. In short, just demand to split apps and override the server. Ask for the temp to be lowered.
Consistently reliable - nothing extraordinary but well prepared meals, many of the plates are Moroccan influenced - interesting and fun dishes
I would recommend this restaurant for the memorable chicken tagine. Overall a very pleasant old-school dining experience in a room reminiscent of a French cafe, but it was a little too pricey for what it was.
Was able to get a terrific Chicken Tagine and Ratatouille here, so highly recommend the authentic and beautifully prepared Moroccan cuisine. Did not feel Moroccan in most other ways. Enjoyed my meal but did not linger because the noise level and tight seating was a bit much even for a Manhattan restaurant. I felt quite wedged between two loud tables and it was unusual for me to feel so awkward as a solo diner. Wait staff was busy with the Friday night bar crowd so I would love to come at a quieter time and try the other delicious looking dishes on their menu.
Bar 6 is a gem. The food is delicious - delicate Moroccan spicing. The menu is nicely varied, so options for everyone. The bar is cute and cosy. It's just a lovely spot. I hope they manage to keep their lease, unlike so many other west village dining fixtures.
An old favorite that never disappoints. While some items reliably remain on the menu, there are always new twists. Service is low key and friendly, atmosphere is lovely and usually quiet (even when the room fills up). Great value, too.
Very good brunch.
I've been to Bar 6 twice in the past month and I love it. The atmosphere is warm and lively, and the food is dependable. My husband and I shared 3 appetizers plus frites and it was a great dinner. I highly recommend the mussels.
So great, as always! Thank you!
The perfect neighborhood restaurant. They are always attentive and the daily specials are great.
Bar 6 is becoming my go to joint to meet friends for dinner and good wine. Food & service is consistently good and the ambiance is excellent. Good value as well.
Six months ago we had a very nice experience. Last night, everything seemed off. Three dips were skimpy and boring. Bisteeya which had been tasty before, was dried-out and bland. Salad was salad-bar dull. Even mussels which were “ok” according to our friend, were served without anything to sop up the broth. Service was inattentive and thus slow. On a scale of 6, Bar 6 gets a Bar 2.
My favorite place for lunch or dinner, alone or with friends.
From the moment you walk in and John greets you to ANYTHING they put in front of you to enjoy, Bar Six is a delight from beginning to end - every time. Can’t recommend it highly enough.
I recently had a lovely dining experience here with a close friend. I hadn't been in years and will surely change that, as it was just as delicious as I remembered. This is such a lovely Village neighborhood gem that serves delicious French cuisine. It is quite a large restaurant with a large bar area in the front and dining towards the back. We were seated at a lovely corner, round table at the back of the restaurant which was prefect. The staff from the hosted to the waiters were all professional & attentive. Our drinks were perfect & the food was delicious! The atmosphere was also quite warm & welcoming. If you are looking for loads of charm with delicious French food, then this is the best bet & you will not be disappointed.
Went here with family and really enjoyed the meal. Had a wonderful spicy margarita and the escargot. The arugula salad was a little uninventive, but everything else was very good. Two of us had the hamburger and were very happy. They also had a short rib tagine special which was delicious. The desserts were worth sinning for! The service was very good. Would definitely go back.
