Bar Primi is a corner pasta shop devoted to ‘primi piatti,’ the pasta course. What began as an idea for a small space in New York's East Village has since become an essential in chef and co-owner Andrew Carmellini's range: fresh pasta traditionally prepared and cooked to order. At Bar Primi, the main course is Primi Piatti. We use a variety of non-GMO semolina and specialty ‘00’ flours, organic eggs and handed-down techniques to create our menu of Traditional and Seasonal pasta dishes. We make more than a dozen different shapes and styles daily. This includes lumache and rigatoni from our imported extruder or ravioli and mezzalune cut and filled by hand. Family recipes and secrets are traded between Carmellini and Brooklyn-born chef-partner Salvatore Lamboglia who also offers a daily meat or seafood special in addition to a selection of shareable Piccolini and Antipasti, artisanal cheese, salumi and simple home-style desserts.

Way too noisy !!!!! Filled with drunk screaming single girls not conducive to any privacy to enjoy ourselves in our eating experience or any conversation...
We were also sat by a computer station where all the waiters came to use for their orders !
Will not go back

always on the lookout for outstanding italian.i had a lovely lambrusco .i inhaled the best meatballs in red sauce . the flavor and texture was heaven but the lack of bread to mop up the sauce was a crime.my casarecce with mushrooms and spinach was al dente enough and there was more fungi than pasta! i was solo and had requested a nice table .the sweet hostess did seat me upstairs in a spot that wasn't squishy . the support waitstaff was far more engaged and accommodatingly friendlier than the ones who took my order.

My first time at Bar Primi was a good one. The setting is nice and the food delicious. I recommend sitting upstairs for a party of 2. Less noise and less crowded. Overall, my guest and I were very satisfied.

Let me start thing by saying we've been here several times and always love it, our experience this time was so awful I wonder if they are under new management. Our server this time was "Sam" he was pushy, hovering and rude. We wanted to order appetizers and drinks to start, he would not allow that and said "we have to order everything at one time" and that it was restaurant policy. But then we heard the table next to us ordering just appetizers and drinks to start. The service was so horrible we would never go back. The food is just ok, the pancetta in our pasta was practically raw. I recommend avoiding this restaurant.

Amazing food, service and atmosphere. Our waiter really didn’t serve us but the surrounding servers did and it was amazing. The burrata was outstanding and the short rib ravioli was amazing.

Went for s friend’s birthday. The place is lovely and cozy. They gave us a great table. Unfortunately the service was spotty. While the staff was attentive, they didn’t give us the things we asked for. We spoke to several people about getting some bread. Finally, the fourth person brought it. They also took away appetizer plates before we were finished. A request for salt was also ignored. The food was tasty but sadly the service will probably be the reason I don’t come back.

It’s a very well designed space, not cramped at all for Manhattan. Very attentive service by everyone who approached our table. The young men refilling our waters and clearing and marking the table between courses were absolutely spot on. It was our first visit and Rebekah explained everything in great details, listened to our questions and answered them and unfailingly accomodated all my requests. Thank you Bar Primi!

Overall the meal was very delicious!
We started with 2 orders of the Brussels sprouts and 2 orders of the ricotta crostini. Both were EXCELLENT!!!

Pasta: linguini with garlic, bucatini, orecchiette, seafood Campanella.
I think everyone thought the pasta was great but not superb. The linguini and bucatini were very very salty. They could’ve definitely toned it down with the salt.

Dessert: tiramisu & panna cotta
Both desserts were really delicious. I don’t usually like tiramisu but loved this one. Maybe I prefer a more Cakey consistency which is what I loved. The panna cotta is a Close 1st. Pieces of cannoli shell was on top with pistachio and thought it was unique and delicious.

Bar Primi never disappoints! My husband and I have been coming to Bar Primi for several years now and always enjoy! Incredible menu- excellent quality pastas for a very decent price, best Tiramisu and great service! Their lunch special is a great deal! If you are searching for a romantic dinner- recommend upstairs area- very cozy there!
