What Insiders Are Saying
Bar Primi is a great East Village move for a pasta-heavy group dinner.
The rice balls were amazing! Reminded me of my Sicilian Mom's rice balls! Great wine by the glass selections! Overall great ecperience, cannot wait to go back!
Very tasty food and friendly staff. I had bronzino and my boyfriend had linguine with clams.
Always love eating at Bar Primi. Food and service is fantastic. I've recommended it to many friends and all have loved it as well.
I chose this restaurant for my birthday dinner because I love pasta. My party arrived within a 15 minute window of my reservation time and did not receive any hassle from staff for being a little past the actual reservation time. That was great. The ambience of the restaurant was nice it was slightly cramped for a seven person table but it was very lively at 9:30PM on a Friday night in mid September. As far as the food goes, it was good, however I found the plates to be small portions for some of the prices on the menu. Felt like I had only 4 fork-twirls of pasta. The froze was great choice. My parents called the restaurant ahead of time and ordered a bottle of champagne that was poured by servers after we sat down. Assumed dessert would have been on the house considering the occasion was for my birthday, they did put a candle in it however.
Great place for good food and ambiance. Delicious Bloody Mary. Service was great. All around wonderful place for brunch.
Great food and service. The wine list is wonderful too. It's a little pricey for what it is but still worth it.
My husband and my favorite local spot. Branzino and bucatini are musts
A fine, comfortable ambience great for group dinners or casual date night. Pasta is delicious, though could use some more succulence. Wait staff is very friendly and accommodating.
Service was terrible... There were 3 servers 'Trying' to service us and they were all rude and got our order wrong. The food was either cold or hot but not cooked enough since they rushed to bring the order after making a mistake twice.
We had a delicious meal with friends at Bar Primi. The portion sizes of the appetizers were great for sharing -- we sampled four different items on the menu. On a hot, sticky night, the watermelon salad was splendid! The pasta was fresh and delicious, and nicely seasoned. Desserts can also be shared (don't miss the tiramisu). The staff was friendly and attentive, and helpful with suggestions for ordering. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Service was very very slow. We had to ask about our main course and had 2 different waiters that made things confusing.
Bar Primi is quickly becoming one of my fave spots. It's a great go to for almost any occasion. The cocktails are great & the bartenders are pretty engaging. The food is delicious and pretty much all the seating is awesome. You feel like you can breathe and relax here. It's quite big and open but still feels really calm and friendly. This is a great spot to have a talkative brunch with cocktails & carbs. You can also get some decent people watching in if you have a view of Bowery. I've taken my suburban parents here. It was a good dad spot.
Food was absolutely incredible. I enjoyed every second of the meal. Will absolutely be returning.
Have never felt so rushed to get out for dinner. Had 6 waiters and bus assistants ask us if we were done and could clear our unfinished food 5 minutes after getting our dishes. Not a great experience
Bar Primi is a cozy fine dining establishment with a lovely outdoor patio. Wait stuff is very attentative- the froze and meatballs are a must!
Service was not very good and they didn’t let me sit without the 1 other person in my party even though there was a lot of empty tables. Food was good and the bartender was soooo nice
This place is good. Pretty little spot. Airy and nicely set up. Felt a tad rushed at lunch and there weren’t a lot of people there. But overall food was nicely made. Meatball appy was tasty.
The frozen rose was probably my least favorite one to date.Right. You don’t order a frozen drink or sangria in an Italian place. BUT broke my rule cause it was hot.
Great food and service. Nice wine list. The only drawback is the noise level.
Pasta is sensational. Small portions but excellent.
I made a reservation for just myself for restaurant week and I was seated at the bar. That is the most annoying thing as a solo diner. It literally makes you feel like you are unworthy. If I wanted to sit at the bar I wouldn’t have made a reservation. Also, the gelato was highly over churned to the point where it was crumbling and the bartenders response, though apologietic, was “well, it is the last day of restaurant week.” Okay, sir. Whatever you say. Not sure if I’ll be back.
No air conditioning. Had to move seats.
Great and understanding servers and service. David at the bar made it worthwhile.
Really cute outdoor seating, perfect for a lunch or dinner with friends. The food was incredible - best brussel sprouts I've ever had. Highly recommend!
Staff was very friendly and the food is always consistently great!
Cool place but service is lacking. Felt ignored and rushed. Portions are super small.
This was my second time here and we want to come back one of my favorite Italian restaurants, the best rice balls in nyc!
Service was slow. Our waiter was standing around most of the time. Appetizers for 3 of the 5 of us were brought out. We waiting for the other 2 to get their cheese plate. Took more than 10 minutes to come while our waiter told us twice, that it's on its way. Food was just good. Nothing special. And portions were quite small.
The Salad and Porcini sandwich were amazing. Gelato not so good. Instant favorite
Absolutely love Bar Primi! A favorite. Service is wonderful- professional without being stuffy and still being plenty friendly. Menu is perfect for a casual evening of pasta or going all out for a special occasion
Went with a friend to Bar Primi with a friend for dinner. We ate outside since it was a beautiful night. Had the frozen Rose which was great and perfect for the hot evening. We had to wait a long time for our salad to arrive. ( I think we were forgotten about) However, once the error was noticed the rest of the meal went smoothly. Everything we ate was delicious, in particular the arancini. We received these for our long wait on the house, and turned out being our favorite part of our meal. I would return despite the error in service.
Amazing food, fit for foodies. Great wine selection.
The meatballs were so good! But you have to eat then with the tomato sauce. It was a little loud but overall a worthwhile experience
Everything was wonderful. We didn’t feel rushed, they were very accommodating of food allergies, and the staff was lovely. Would highly recommend!
Amazing service, atmosphere and food on our trip to NYC.
Would highly recommend Bar Primi and would make sure you have a Frose cocktail
Though my pasta was a little heavy, I generally enjoy my entire meal and will come back soon.
Excellent hearty Italian food. If in the area, would return.
everything we had from salads to pastas was delicious. would definitely be going back!
It was good not reall
The food here is fantastic. While it is a neighborhood, fairly casual restaurant, my pasta dish was as good as anywhere I've been including very expensive, well reviewed Italian restaurants.
The food was amazing!! The spaghetti tasted delicious and was an overall good experience
Food was sub par. I got the spinach fusilli and it was tasteless. Good ambiance, but food is bland and not worth the price.
