Great ambiance. Delicious food: Squid ink pasta, Bolognese, and ricotta is a must. Fun location: We arrived early and stopped at two bars before dinner: The Wren and Gemma while we were waiting for our table.
Food was delicious. Atmosphere was wonderful. Service was awesome.
Went to Bar Primi for a birthday dinner for our family of 4. The service was top notch and the food was delicious.
My favorite restaurant. The waiters are so kind and attentive.. FANTASTIC food. Highly, highly recommend.
Went here for a birthday brunch, the food was excellent and they served free ice cream as a birthday treat! They honored our reservation on time even though we had one person who was running a bit late. Thank you for the great dining experience!
The best pasta in the city. Had the steak for the first time, too. It was good but could’ve stuck with pasta!
Meredith was excellent.
The ricotta on toast would be my last meal before the electric chair.
Great pasta, Great energetic service
Bar primi is the perfect place to sip wine and have a solid dish of pasta with friends. This restaurant is always my go to when I can’t decide where to go for dinner. I recently had my birthday dinner there and I couldn’t have picked a better place. The staff is always so lovely and attentive and the ambiance is perfect.
I came here for dinner the other night after trying to find an Italian place to go to since my cousin was in town. I live right down the street from this restaurant and walk by it every single day but never had a chance to go. I saw they had a reservation on open table the day of so I went ahead and secured us a spot. I got there early, had a glass of wine at the bar and waited for everyone to get there. We were seated upstairs which had such a great vibe and was very energetic. It’s a beautiful space but still low key. We ordered the meatballs and ricotta toast to start- both were delicious. For our mains, we each ordered a pasta since that’s what the restaurant is known for. I had the pomodoro with gluten free pasta which was good and the other pastas we ordered were the rigatoni carbonara and the penne bolognese. Everyone said they enjoyed their dishes. For dessert, we had the Nutella sundae which was great. Everything from the ambiance to the food and wine was great. If you’re looking for a relaxed spot to have some comfort food/pasta this is a great place.
OUR SERVER meaghen WAS GREAT. the dish we loved was the pasta with bread crumbs. the cauliflower cacao and pepe was too heavy and not too tasty. the staff is lovely and the vibes are fun. i would return.
The host at Sunday brunch this weekend was one of the rudest people I’ve ever met. I’ve taken time to step away from the experience and see if I still feel that way, but I have no idea what happened in her personal life to make her behave that way at work.
We love it here and bring our dog often but were treated horribly by her and the bus boy who set up our table outside. We waited 20 minutes for them to set it up even though we had a reservation, when no one was at the restaurant and were made to feel entirely unwelcome. They sat multiple tables before us. When we tried to check in to see what the hold up was, she was visibly annoyed and irritated. We then received service from 3 different servers. Were genuinely concerned they did something to our food because the vibe was so odd. Whatever, even if we ate their spit, it still tasted good.
I think she should find a job that doesn’t make her so miserable. Probably not client-facing for everyone’s benefit. If she’s working here next time we come, we’ll go somewhere else.
A nice neighborhood place to have dinner, but a little haphazard and noisy unless you go early. The antipasti was sparse, but the pasta dishes were excellent. I felt that our server was a little preoccupied, but very sweet. We would definitely try again when we’re town.
Had a beautiful lunch visiting from Toronto! Thank you to the staff and chef!
Good food and service. lovely atmosphere.
This place had a nice cozy vibe and spectacular homemade pasta. The wine list was extensive. Only fault is that it is a bit pricy, but that’s pretty standard for the neighborhood.
Went for brunch Sunday morning as it seemed like the best place in the area (Soho / Noho). Great food, a little different vibe as it was Italian-themed brunch, but great overall.
Delicious food, great staff. The set-up leaves you fairly close to the group next to you (which can get a bit loud if they're a bigger party), but that's what you get in NY!
WAY too noisy downstairs. Should have requested to sit upstairs. But great pasta and burrata
Seriously had the best experience ever! My friend and I had a reservation at 8pm this evening but we arrived 30 minutes prior and promptly sat at the bar to get a few drinks while we waited. All of the staff that we encountered this evening was amazing and ensured we were happy with our drinks/food and service. We ordered the tomato rice balls for an appetizer and each got the spherical with clams. Both were incredible and the drinks were even more delicious. Highly recommend this place & will definitely be returning!
Celebrating a friend’s wedding.
Good food! Consistent each time we are there. Good younger crowd.
Long time visit with a good friend after many years
I’ve been to Bar Primi before and we had a family trip to the city, in Soho particularly. My family wanted Italian and choosing Primi was a no-brained. We had the meatballs, prosciutto and cheese and appetizers, and the artichoke, vongole, bucatini, and squid ink pasta for our mains, then the tiramisu and affogato for dessert. Solid fare from start to end. Service was attentive but unobtrusive. We were pleased with our dinner
Bar Primi is our go-to spot in the East Village. The service is outstanding. Wines are uniformly good. The food is great. It's a really good choice for gluten-free. It's as good for lunch as it is for dinner. Dinner can get really loud. Outside and upstairs are better.
Good Italian on the LES. Appetizers are a standout. Pastas are good, but not outstanding. Nice, reasonably priced wine selection. Service is friendly and atmosphere is nice.
Our server was the sweetest! She gave us free ice cream for dessert
Wonderful experience - younger crowd for sure
Really fantastic food but the service was excellent.
For a busy Friday night, our experience was great. Service was accommodating and communicative when our reservation ran a few minutes behind. Atmosphere is beautiful and a place where you can actually hear others in your party across the table—a rarity I find in the city. Our food was brought out of order, but we were comp’ed for the mistake. The only downfall was our food wasn’t properly hot, but was delicious.
Delicious and we loved it! The ricotta crostini was amazing
Very good pasta! Nice ambiance upstairs.
They were very considerate of a birthday at the table and the service was great!
Recommend the corn ragu fusili, so refreshing and light.
Cute place with nice ambiance. The menu was a bit limited and hard to decipher but our waiter was very helpful. We asked for bread which was slow to arrive and taken away when our food arrived. The meals were all tasty. Overall a nice atmosphere and experience. I would visit again.
amazing would go back
Top 5 in NYC
Everything was great except the food came a little late. The music was also a bit too loud for our liking.
Waitress was apathetic and cold. Food was delicious though
Was great... food is so tasty! We had a business meal and we sat at one half of a large table... which could have been problematic but luckily no one else sat with us.
Cane during restaurant week for lunch on a Thursday. It was pretty empty but began to fill up after an hour. Our server was very kind and had a great personality. The manager on duty was also very friendly. The food was really good. We ordered the brussel sprouts, burrata cremosa, eggplant sandwich and paccheri. Every was prepared very well especially the paccheri which was my favorite.
Linguini with clams were fabulous
