Did not take my food allergies seriously and I had an allergic reaction.
I am never disappointed by a meal at Bar Pastoral-- always great service and tasty interesting, innovative creations. Will be back soon
Bar pastoral is our go to pretheater dinner for 6. Always delicious, relaxed. Fun.
We chose this place for National Wine Day. Started with an excellent Alsatian sparking wine, then ordered several 1/2 glasses of assorted wines, which I like all of. For food, we had a nice cheese plate and some olives for appetizers, then for my meal I had some pasta. All my food and drink were outstanding, my girlfriend's were hit or miss (but she's also pickier than I am). We got a great window seat, which was a little close to the next table but was fine. Service was pretty good too. I would definitely come back
Quiet and friendly ambiance. Lovely people. Tasty food!
I previously had Enjoyed restaurant, but on my last visit the service is quite abysmal. Eugenie within half an hour or so to put in any order or have the waiter check back on us. The salad took over an hour to come out from the kitchen. Similarly, the cheese plate took 45 minutes to come out. Were there for two hours and never once offered to refill our water. Service was so slow the table beside us cleared and then after them two different parties sat down at the table but got up and left before they even came to get their order because they waited so long to acknowledge they were even there. Also bizarrely waiter was telling people that they had “run out of food” after we arrived so other guests were told they could not order any food.
I would steer clear from here unless major changes take place.
Food good, service poor (took longer to get salad than hot dishes), had to make multiple attempts to flag down server for additional drinks. Little pricey.
Great service and relaxing environment
The food has become much less well-made, and of lower quality ingredients.
The shortcuts have diminished the quality of the food and the service, and expectations that previous experiences at Bar Pastoral had led me to rely on were not fulfilled.
Nice cheese and bread. Shared a good bottle of wine. Roasted garlic plate was also good. A little pricey but overall very nice experience.
We tried the raclette dinner for the first time. It was quite good & very filling. We didn't even ask for the free platter refill. We substituted the gouda brownie for the bread pudding dessert, and it was probably the best dessert we'd ever had.
Been wanting to try this place for a long time and it did not disappoint. Extensive wine list, good things to eat, and a knowledgeable server. 5/5.
Great experience. Great food.
Overall, a very good experience. Would like to see more diversity in the entrees. The cheese and charcuterie selections are excellent, but entrée choices are limited. Always an interesting wine list.
Great service. Cheese and wine pairings are always impressive. I highly recommend this hidden gem.
I loved the Raclette dinner. Fabulous! The wait staff were welcoming and helpful. Had a great time.
Always a great experience! Keep up the great work!
Great food, I live this place and have been many times. The only odd thing was that we arrived on time for our reservation and there was absolutely no one in there, but the server did not come over to get our drink order for almost 15 minutes, this was really odd because the were just standing by the bar talking to each ther the whole time? Otherwise everything else was perfect.
Absolutely loved this place! Everyone was super friendly and the mac & cheese was amazing! I’d definitely go back.
I like this place a lot. Cheese and wine are phenomenal, and the wine is reasonably priced for excellent quality. Hostess and servers went out of their way for us several times.
This bar/restaurant never disappoints. I’ve been at least a dozen times and their wine selection is anyways superb as well as their cheeses. The waiters are also well educated on pairings and have wonderful recommendations. The small size of the restaurant gives it a cozy romantic feeling. I went here for my birthday and Valentine’s Day. Make sure to make a reservation if you have more than 2 people with you.
The food was mediocre and the service was very slow. Went there for Valentine’s Day so perhaps it was because of the special occasion.
Service did a great job giving us time in between each dish/course, to enjoy the food and the overall experience!
We were seated close to the door so it was cold sometimes when folks came in and out. Since we arrived when the space was empty it would have been nice to be seated at a better (warmer) table.
Loved our experience. My husband is Swiss and we know (and love) our CHEESE! Received a very warm welcome upon check-in. Peter, our server, was delightful. Cheese was superb, and liked trying the various accompaniments. Bread pudding also delicious, especially as it's not too sweet (but sweet enough.) Definitely will come back, also to try to the raclette evening - my favorite!
This place is SO very delicious. The cheese selection is wonderful, the wines are focused and the food is so perfectly portioned and finely made. I really like the mid-week Prix fix menu as well! A great value and cozy night out!
Did the restaurant week menu. App and entre weren’t as good as usual, but the dessert was amazing. Still love the place though.
Very good brunch. Two entries not available. Service was very good.
Perfect comfort food menu for a cold winter's night, and great for pre-theater dinner. Loved the reduction and sauce on the pork, and unusual bread pudding with warm chocolate sauce.
I have loved Bar Pastoral since the day it opened. It consistently delivers excellent food, great pairings, superb service. And, when you finish eating you can go next door to Pastoral Artisan to pick up some amazing cheese and wine and other unique foods.
Bar tender was super helpful! Guided us on wines and cheeses and was so friendly. Nice cozy restaurant.
Enjoyed a cheese plate and farro entree with a friend. Very nice service, good wine selection.
We were there for New Year's Eve. As with past years, the four course dinner was basically a tasting, with three (in one case, four) choices for each course except the cheese plate. We bought the wine pairing as well. We enjoyed it all, did not feel rushed, and plan to be there again for NYE 2019 (not to mention several times before that...)
This place is amazing for all the cheese lovers and winos. I highly recommend the brûlée fromage for dessert!
This little gem in Lakeview is one of my go-tos. Spectacular curated cheeses and small bites, great wine list, and friendly servers.
It’s everything a wine bar should be: small, quiet, and with excellent service. It CAN get pricey but it’s well worth it.
The restaurant was cold and they seated us right by the door. Each time the door opened, a gust of cold air would rush in. We asked to be moved and they moved us table over one table-where we had the same problem. We saw there were tables in the back but assumed they were for reservations (and yes, we had a reservations ourselves). Those tables remained vacant for the rest of our stay until patrons who were seated in our original seats made the same complaint.
The food was good, but also a little cold.
Ive had great experiences at this place and Im willing to give them another chance but this experience was pretty lousy
This was my first time visiting this restaurant so I looked it up on line to check out the menu. When we arrived the items me and my friend wanted to order that we saw on the website was not available in the restaurant. Not much of a bit deal but upsetting. When we finally received our starter (cheese plate with pickles) it was such a small serving for the price. We each got basically a cube and half of cheese. Next was our entrees, once again the portion size was small for the price we paid (good thing I was not starving). But I wanted to end on a positive note. The food was AMAZING, I ordered the pork which was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The meat was tender and juicy. The side of potatoes were very nice. My friend also enjoyed the chicken he ordered which he also said was moist and very tasty. Overall the food was amazing the only down side was that their online menu did not match what was in the store. And the portion sizes were smaller than either one of us expected.
I was there early (6. pm) for a pre-theater dinner so it wasn't crowded or noisy. I had a lovely (and generously poured) flight of 3 wines with a roasted squash, Brussel sprout and green salad that was prefect along with great bread and pate. They also had entrees that looked very good but were too much food for the occasion. But I'll be back to try a full dinner in the near future.
We loved the place. We had most of the cheeses on the menu and they were all
excellent. Everything was great. The poblano mac and cheese was a stand out as well.
Really awesome spot, third time there and will return. Great cheese and charcuterie.
