It was close and easy to the Timeline Theater Co. My dinner was very bland and would not go back just for the food. Nice wine and cheese list. It was very cute and pleasant and super close to the theater. So, I would be willing to try it again for that purpose.
Just go! Amazing food, drink, service and ambiance.
The staff was super knowledgeable about the food and wine.
It was a great experience. Took a date here. Was during the weeknight on a warm Autumn evening. Most of the patrons took advantage of the weather and dined outside. It felt like we had the restaurant to ourselves. We were able to have a conversation without having to yell and it felt very intimate. The staff was helpful and the food was great.
Delicious. They were out of a couple things but that's okay. It shows the commitment to quality and fresh.
I would come here just for a cheese plate and wine, which were fantastic. The other food was good but not great, though a good value with the prix fixe. The desserts were pretty good, but as a personal preference I like my cake warm not ice cold. I loved the ambiance. It was a very relaxing way to spend the evening with my husband for my birthday. What irked me is our server knew it was my birthday and didn't do anything special. I wasn't expecting anything free, but a candle in my cake would've been a nice touch. Instead she went on and on about her birthday, which was the day before. I also wish the AC vents overhead hadn't dropped ice cold water on me all night. She also kept bringing full glasses of wine when I was ordering half glasses so I could try more and pair them with my meal without drinking too much. I will definitely be back, but will sit in a different spot and hope for a different server.
This is the perfect place for dinner after a show. The service was excellent and friendly, with helpful recommendations about menu items. The food was terrific; definitely get the cheeses. We all loved our entrees.
Always a favorite. It's been a while. It's a busy place so don't expect to get out quickly. So hang out and enjoy.
The quality and consistency are the ever constant. I never have a bad time or bad meal.
I took my parents here for brunch. I'd had several pleasant dinners at Bar Pastoral in the past and was curious about the brunch menu. We were seated next to an open window on a beautiful Sunday morning. The service and the dishes were great!
Excellent service and recommendations by our server. Very good wine and cheese pairings. Highly recommend for a casual yet classy experience.
Haven't been there since New Year's Eve 2017. Food was good and wine selections were excellent but Bread Pudding was not very good. I'm sure we'll be back but when you have a prix fixe menu each course has to be better then the last...
Food was outstanding. Service was kind, friendly and prompt. Only complaint is that we went for brunch and they did not have coffee. However, the waitress went to the store next door and got some coffee for us and they put it on the house.
The menu didn't quite provide enough detail for the cheeses and meats; we had to ask our waiter about what certain types were. We were pleased with what we got, but later heard a different waiter go into much further detail - without prompting - about what was popular and why, making recommendations, etc. That would've been helpful.
But the ribeye steak entree was unexpectedly good, I'd go back for that alone. My date enjoyed the chicken with duck-fat potatoes. We could have stopped with cheese and charcuterie and been happy, but the entrees were excellent.
Really wonderful staff. Higher priced but really great place for a date!
We went for a light dinner of meat and cheese. You were out of all 3 meats we tried to order!
I go here all the time. I had vowed never to order chicken in a restaurant. Rationale confirmed. Chicken was dry and potatoes weren't crisp.
Like the djuda charcuterie
Bar Pastoral remains one of my favorite restaurants in the city. I wish the leek macaroni and cheese would be a permanent fixture on the menu, though!
We met a friend for a leisurely light dinner and wine before going to a play at TimeLine. Great location, service, food and ambience. Very accommodating of my husband's lactose intolerance.
Chicken and waffle perfection
Good food, nice ambience, extraordinary service. I can't believe we haven't tried it before this, but will definitely return. Yummy mac 'n' cheese and chicken liver mousse appetizer.
Delicious wine and cheese. Apps and entrees also excellent. Warm cozy ambience.
We've eaten several times at bar pastoral all before timeline theater with friends. It is very cozy and welcoming and we've always enjoyed the food, service, and ambience. While food yummy it's a bit pricey for what you get but you'll be happy and feel well taken care of.
Great neighborhood brunch. Endless mimosas. Great flavors. Smaller portions. Will do the patio again. Chicken and waffle fantastic!
Don't count on getting a counter seat even though you select it on OpenTable. For the second time no seats were available at our reserved time and we were seated at a table. Our server was friendly but took our order by memory without writing anything down and then proceeded to enter it incorrectly. That said, the food is quite tasty and nice to have in the neighborhood.
Was here for brunch.
Very nice outdoor eating with cheese tray and artic char and a glass of rose
We had two great dinners at Bar Pastoral in one week. The cheese selection is beyond amazing, the food is fantastic and what really makes this place great is the staff. Special shout out to Peter, who we trusted to put together a cheese board for us, pick our wine and get advice on our food, and everything was pretty much perfect.
Absolutely recommend this place!
Great experience... food, service, location! We can highly recommend this place and will certainly go again very soon!
The butternut squash soup was perfect for a somewhat chilly day. What made it even better was the goat cheese that was place on top of it! Plus great wine selection.
Bar Pastoral has been one of my favorites since it opened -- today's brunch was so good --
Wine and food were very good, especially the gnocchi and chicken. The three of us each ordered a glass of wine to start and shortly after ordered a cheese board (which was delicious) and another glass of wine. The waiter came back maybe once to check on us and then notified us that the kitchen was closing. For reference, we were seated at 8:15 and it was now 10:00. This would have been fine, except they were definitely trying to rush us out at the end (at 10:45 they turned off the music as we were finishing our food). I checked later and it says on their website that they are open until midnight on Fridays. I would definitely go back for some more wine and appetizers, but I would get an earlier reservation if I were to eat dinner here again.
Service was great, explained the menu and made recommendations based on our palettes. Food was spectacular.
The food was great, my server never came back asked me if I like my food or to see how I was doing. He only handed me the check.
This is a nice option for brunch. There is rarely a wait, and I love the bottomless mimosas. They also have a nice selection of cocktails and wine.
This was the perfect place for Easter Brunch, everything was delicious and our server, Nate was lovely!
Great selections across the board. The food was delicious but had some seemingly random allocation. While the Mac and Cheese was a big bowl, the gnocchi was a quarter portion. All that, I do like this place a lot. Good wine selection, shared dishes - the charcutery was great.
Bar Pastoral is our go to, cozy neighborhood restaurant. We always enjoy our usual bottle of Fiction along with roasted garlic and baguette before our main meal. The ambience is nice and the restaurant is quiet. Perfect for catching up with friends.
Our book club met there, and will be coming back. The food was very good, the menu can accommodate pretty much everyone. Great wine list and interesting non alcoholic drinks. The services was nice, no one hovering over the table, no one rushing you out the door.
