The food was good but it was tough to hear the conversation because of the noise.
Good food - way too busy cramped & extremely loud setting.
Overall wont return but ok for your fun/get together w friends spot.
Just impossible for a proper dinner carrying a conversation.
Went on a Wednesday night for dinner with friends. We all split a bunch of things- everything was delicious and not overly expensive. I will definitely be back.
I have been to Bar Lucca several times. The food is always spot on. Good pizzas and small but varied menu of Italian food.
We will be back to try ALL the pizzas and all the pasta dishes!
Wonderful experience. Our waitress was great and very accommodating to our slow ordering as we were enjoying the conversation too much to entertain ordering for some time. Towards the end we felt slightly ridge, however, we were there till closing. Will definitely visit again!
I’ve heard great things about this place & hoped to be wowed. Three of us dined for a quick & simple meal on Fri nite. We were seated promptly. My fish entree was fine but nothing special for $28. One of us ordered the risotto special which used pork cheeks (a very fatty cut of meat) on top of overly rich risotto. He could only eat half and didn’t want to take the rest home because it was overkill with richness. The third person ordered the thin crust pizza w/arugula, prosciutto & fresh mozzarella. It looked beautiful and he loved it. Sadly, I think we’d only go back for pizza in the future.
Felt rushed, food was over cooked, bar was out of wine requested
I wanted to like this place; LaBan suggested it, like the name, and the owner's story. But we had the Vegetable Board for 1st course, and it really was a fail. The description was "grilled zucchini, eggplant, asparagus, brussels sprouts, barely heat-touched asparagus (essentially raw with grill marks), soggy and barely grilled eggplant and zucchini, and utterly and completely RAW shishito peppers [seasonal]. In addition, the "arugula pesto" that these were to be served "over" was a tiny puddle, perhaps 1/2 tsp., on the corner of the board and it tasted mainly like salt, and weirdly, lime. Finally, the "fresh baked bread" was a roll-sized piece, that was dark/charred [promising!] looking on the outside, and UNCOOKED on the inside. Remarkably bad. Pasta was boring and far too large a portion for a sane human being, but edible. Fish entree one of us had was fine. Disappointed.
too loud to enjoy anything. sat down, couldn't talk because of noise level, when food came took to go.
If nothing done to absorb noise level no reason to return
We met another couple for dinner. We really enjoyed the food and the service was very good! The restaurant was a little noisy.
Food was flavorless; probably a great spot for pizza and salad.
Great food. Wonderful Service! Grilled Mellon and prosciutto starter was fantastic! French toast with berries was a masterpiece!
Excellent pasta. My fiancé and I have been to many Italian restaurants in the area and this is one of our favorites. Friendly staff and delicious food. A little loud but not too crazy. Highly recommended
Always a great experience!! Thanks to Brian and his staff!!
This was a business group dinner. Guests were pleased with the menu, service and overall experience.
Two couples, friends for 35 years, celebrating 2 birthdays. Nice wine selection, attentive service, bronzino was just right, and diver scallops also excellent. 3 minor points:
The wine menu listed bottles which were 1/2 price during Monday Happy Hour. Since bottle full price ranged $45-65, this was a big savings. But it was not to be as that pricing was only available 8 feet away, in the bar area (where there were tables for dining.). If you are going to have such a rule, the wine menu should say “bar only” for the 1/2 price deal. My arugula salad was perhaps a little over-dressed, and the chunks of cheese were pretty large, some almost golf ball sized. Of course, they can be broken into smaller pieces. Finally, the pappardelle with wild boar rage was very delicious, with just a hint of heat. But the noodles were not actually pappardelle. They were lasagna noodles cut lengthwise, and incompletely, so I had to wrestle with cutting them.
All in all a good experience, and I would return. And eat in the bar on a Monday.
While the service was very good, the food was not so good. My wife had the duck which appeared to be deep fried. It was a bit tough and it was served on top of some beet fig risotto and some broccoli rabe. Neither of the two sides tasted good. Very bland and without any real flavor.
I have been here many times and really enjoyed it in the past. This weekend there was a function taking place upstairs so seating was limited and we had to sit in the bar area. It is impossible to hold a conversation in that area with the music blaring and the overall loudness of the space. Our appetizers came and were all very good, but when the entrees arrived none of us could even eat them. Two of us order fish dishes (which I have had there before) and they were both served in a bowl with lots of liquid in the bowl which made it almost impossible to get the fish because it would flake off and fall into the bowl of whatever else was in there. Usually fish is served on a plate with the veggies on the side. These dishes were not listed as bowl entrees. Our friend ordered lamb and asked for it well done and he said it was rare and could not order it. My other friend ordered a pizza and it was undone in the middle and was soggy. Won't be going back anytime soon. Its a shame because this place has always been good in the past.
Never disappointed and always surprised! My wife and I went for her birthday last evening and it could not have gone better.
We arrived a few minutes early and they sat us immediately. Our server had a huge table so the bartender came over to help out.
As always, the food was excellent. As good, or better, than anything you’ll find in the city!
My biggest complaint is the noise level. Makes it difficult to hold a conversation. Really need sound panels to buffer the noise.
Great meal & cocktails! Good service. Will definitely return.
Great food we had pizza and pasta. Great service
Bar Lucca has wonderful pizza, wine and atmosphere. The outside seating makes you feel like you are in Italy.
New menu was awful
Food was excellent! Wood fire oven pizza was amazing and service was top notch. The place is very warm and inviting!
We went to Bar Lucca for a late Friday night dinner. We started with the arancini balls and calamari which were both delicious. Then we shared two pizzas which were both just as great. The house wine is also very good.
The restaurant is wonderful . Great food , courteous service and warm ambiance. Couldn't as for a better Sunday night dinner !!
Excellent service. Overpriced with limited menu. Food did not seem “fresh”.
Let me begin by saying that Bar Lucca is one of my favorite restaurants, but my last dining experience was just mediocre. The male server seemed to always be in a hurry despite my table telling him we weren’t pressed for time. I have had much, much better service during previous visits. The food was definitely good, but some of my go to menu items were tweeked slightly and I wasn’t a fan. I wouldn’t reinvent the wheel - stick with what works.
Lunch meeting. Was seated near the kitchen. Food was great and the service was as well. However, towards the end of the lunch, the kitchen prep noise was a bit overpowering.
What fun! We were celebrating our anniversary. (Married in Lucca, Italy) great, friendly and accommodating service. Food was authentic and delishiish. It was a 40 minute drive ; but worth it.
Great food, good wine and great service. And they have parking! We always visit when we are in town for work.
We went on restaurant week ,very good variety to chose from, except the entree’s that were on the menu had an additional up charge which meant to me was kinda bait n switch menu, not totally prepared for that,as we’ve been to other restaurant ‘s in the area for restaurant week and no up charges we’re on the menu. That being said was the only downside of the restaurant ,other than that food was delicious and service was very good.wiil try again.
Food was absolutely delicious. Glad we went and would definitely go again.
Food was delicious! Service was wonderful - kudos to Anastasia! A really great dining experience. We'll be back!
After our second time at Bar Lucca, it's safe to say we definitely won't be back. Our most recent visit was during Restaurant Week. Service was very slow for not really being what I would consider "busy" as the second floor was seating its first table when we arrived. The noise level is off the charts. The food was less than mediocre. The pizza that my boyfriend ordered was undercooked and soggy. After bringing it to the waitress' attention, she offered to not charge him for the pizza. No "do you want me to have another made?"....it was as if she knew the second one would be just as bad. The time between each course was excruciatingly long. We had to tell the waitress we were ready for dessert...after sitting with empty plates (and still full plates since the food was not that good) for over 10 minutes. Dinner for three people should not take over an hour and a half. Not sure where all of the 4 and 5 star reviews are coming from.
Food is great. Service is fantastic. The wood fired pizza and personable pizza chef are a highlight of the entire dining experience. My absolute favorite place in town!
The food was really good. The drinks were really good. It was definitely loud, hard to hear anyone, but a fun vibe to the place. Only issue was walking into the restaurant, there was a line to talk to the hostess and we couldn't just walk past people to get to the bar.
Our only complaint is that the music was too loud for conversation.
