Hosts were rude and did not greet us, waitress was very quick and dismissive and not friendly (it was not busy in the restaurant either). Food (garlic shrimp especially) was subpar for tapas. I expected better and was disappointed. Will be going to other tapas places from now on.

I've only ever eaten on the patio and BarLola, and if you get a table there, you're in for a real treat. You feel far away from the hub bub of Comm. Ave. The food is quite good - a mixture of Spanish and American tapas. I recommend the mushroom ravioli, even though it's not an authentic Spanish dish. The red sangria is also good.
Spent the day in Back Bay with a most lovely woman. Wanted to do something different for dinner, tapas was the idea and a very good one. We shared three tapas plates, all quite tasty and of good size. Attentive service, we ate on the early side so a small crowd, not too much noise. By the time we left, the crowds started to arrive, still a nice scene! Will be back, with a bigger appetite next time!

There was a vibrant bar scene when we came in for our dinner reservations but our waitress seated us in the adjoining room, which had a cozy and romantic feel to it. My boyfriend and I ordered a host of tapas to share including the empanadas, duck and paella which were our three favorites. We would definitely come back on our next visit to Boston
This is one of the authentic Spanish Tapa restaurants in Boston. Having lived in Spain for 8 years, I can say the food is truly Spanish. All of the tapas are tasty and we'll described on the menu. The only item I had an issue with was the size of the Paella. It would be great if they had it as a non-tapa sized dish. Rather, a full sized paella would be great! However, the dish, while tapa size, was great! Our server was awesome and worked hard to get our orders and drinks to us!
Everything was lovely, and the food was excellent.
Hostess was no where to be found for first 5 mins or so. But after that initial bit of slowness, service turned out to be good. Lamb chops were amazing. BarLola's house red sangria went very well with the food.
So happy with the food and the service this time. The Flamenco Show was simply amazing. I can't wait to get some friends together to visit this place again.
Came here after a full day of theater and walking around Boston. We had been here before and we're so excited to try items on the menu that we hadn't tried. We started out with a crostini, which paired well with the tequila drinks. We then had chicken skewers, meatballs, and the dates, which are always a must. Great service - very attentive. Restaurant was quiet for a Saturday, but lots of customers chose to sit outside on the patio - I thought is was too hot and muggy for that. Food was prompt and tasty.
We are very partial to tapas style dining. Customarily, tapas servings are small, one expects that. However Bar Lola had the largest portions I've ever been served in a tapas restaurant. The Spanish Cava was excellent and well priced. Overall it was a bargain for a Boston restaurant.
It was my first time at Bar Lola and was very impressed. The drink menu was creative and delicious, also loved that they added sangria to a lot of their martinis. The tapas food menu was great and there was a lot of variety. The only downfall was that they seemed to close early for a Saturday night. We were told that last call was at 12:30am but they were basically forcing us out of the door before then. With that being said, I will most likely return to Bar Lola due to their food menu and delicious drinks.
A wonderful selection of tapas, seafood, meat, vegetarian -- a small-plate lover's paradise, with a nice cocktail list and a good variety of Spanish wines. The room was comfortable and the service friendly and helpful. The sangria was popular although we didn't have it. I was disappointed there was no sherry list. I would, however, return. The calamares rellenos (stuffed squid) was memorable, as was the simple manchego and serrano ham and the albondigas.
