Great neighborhood gem. Good was fantastic and very friendly atmosphere. Will definitely return.
Delicious food, great service if you're not picky about being where the crowds are
Went to Bar Italia to celebrate my graduation. The food was amazing and the service was great. There is a bit of a wait when its busy but I didn't mind that. Great place!
My friend and I just had lunch and drinks at bar Italia. As always, the service and food were stellar.
We started with the Antipasto Misto, and an amazing glass of amarone. We then shared a panini di pollo and the bistecca sandwich, with side caesars, of course (one of the best Caesar salads I've ever had, without a doubt). Our friendly and knowledgeable server made us a couple of craft cocktails to help wash them down :)
I've tried numerous items of the lunch and dinner menu throughout my multiple visits, but one thing you without a doubt have to save room for is the chocolate truffle cake. It is a perfect, melt in your mouth concoction that I have to order every time I stop in :)
Super friendly service!
We went for Valentine's Day , and we're both extremely satisfied, possibly the best Chicken Parmesan dinner I have ever had.
We made a reservation for 8 for my husband's birthday.our waiter was very attentive to our needs, and patient while we settled in (we took a while to get our orders in) he was knowledgeable about the menu, and very helpful with everyone in our party. I would definitely come back.
I went to Bar Italia for some food and drinks with a couple friends. The food was delicious and portions were decent size, not too big but not small either. The winterlicous menu had a few appetizing choices, the desert was quite small though, smaller than I expected (I had the torta di ricotta). The place was quiet when we got there (7pm on a Sat) but around 8pm it did get louder. The waiter was attentive and entertaining, and the host seated us quickly.
Overall a good dinner and ambiance, I would return for sure.
Was here for New Year's Eve dinner. Our server was amazing...super friendly and attentive. They had a reasonably priced menu for NYE - which was refreshing compared to some of the exorbitant amounts other restaurants were asking for! Our calamari appetizer was quite tasty but our mains were very disappointing. I had the lamb which our server recommended. The meat was tender and fell off the bone, but it was very bland and lacked any flavour. The other people in our party felt the same way about their entrees...which was too bad because everything else was excellent up until that point.
Amazing service - owner was pleasure to meet and extremely welcoming. Typical Italian food.
Great service; amazing food. We will be back!
love this place. We go to Bar Italia to celebrate special occasions with warm and friendly staff, who remember us and treat us like family.
Great service! Great food! Outstanding! Would come back any day.
Bar Italia was 'Bene'. The service was friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and presented beautifully. The best tiramisu in the city. The restaurant is located conveniently in a Little Italy. I highly recommend this restaurant; a 'buono' experience
Device attempted to accommodate is but the food orders and content was not good.
The place was empty for a summer evening in Little Italy, now we know why.
2nd time at this restaurant - food and service were outstanding. Eris and staff are fabulous :)
Loved this place and the food. Definitely a must eat at place. Would come again
Service was friendly but slow. Sandwiches were good, but I found the accompaniment of a single stick each of celery and carrot and two block olives to be very odd. A handful of greens would have been more appropriate, but they charge $4 extra for that.
We had a small family dinner here - 9 of us across three generations - and just really enjoyed the entire experience. The food, for sure, was the highlight as every dish was spot on and excellent, but the service was a close second - the servers were always on top of things and engaged with us in just the right way - attentive and friendly without be obsequious. The only small complaint is that this place is so popular that it got a bit noisy for our 70-something grandparents to hear all the conversation, so don't expect a quiet night out.
After a few back and forth likes on Instagram and seeing a pic of their parpadelle with lamb ragu, I knew I had to try this place. I eventually made it out to the restaurant with my family. None of us were disappointed with the service. The waiter was very attentive and the food was absolutely delicious. The chili oil was on point and added a delicious flavor to the food.
Started with the prosciutto & fico crostini - Must try! Also had the grilled octopus salad. Highly recommend. Shared both the linguini vongole (classic!) and the spaghetti al faro with tons of fresh veggies and evoo. We've travelled all over the world, including Italy, and the pasta at Bar Italia was as good (and fresh) as any we have ever eaten. Anywhere! For dessert we had the lemon tart. Delicious! Great bottle of Ripasso wine, too. Terrific energy in restaurant. Young lady server was very attentive and pleasant, and helped us choose our dishes. We will be back again and again! Perfect way to celebrate a special night out!
Amazing service and food
I chose to have my 65th birthday dinner here with a friend. I had a vegetarian pasta dish. The vegetables included my favourite: eggplant and thank goodness no onion. The amount of garlic was just right. I could taste the olive oil. The pasta and veggies were cooked to perfection. Their tiramisu is the best in the city.
There were four of us dining last Saturday evening. We chose our meals from the Winterlicious $25 per person menu. The food portions were very, very small. More like samplings than a real meal. The server never asked us if we would like a drink. Noisy atmosphere. Hurried pace. Little value for the money. This was our third Winterlicious outing this year and the only one where there were no left-overs to take home. This was our first time at Bar Italia. We would not recommend going there for Winterlicious. With so many other restaurants to dine at in Toronto I don't think we will ever go back to Bar Italia.
My friends and I came here during Winterliscious. The food here wasn't exceptional but it was the service that was. A great place to catch up with some friends. The atmosphere is nice, I wasn't blown away by the food but I enjoyed it. The star of the scene though was our server Arnaldo. He is incredibly nice, catered to all our needs and most of all unbelievably attentive. So much so, that at one point we'd run out of bread and my friend whispered to me if we were allowed to have more. Next thing you know Arnaldo is back with some more bread for our table. That is my definition of excellent service: always being 100% attuned to your customers' needs even when they think you're not listening. The selection of food items is also great will have to return to try some other desserts! Fantastic afternoon spent at this restaurant!
We had a great dinner. Our first time at Bar Italia. We went for Winterlicious. It was a great deal. The food was excellent and very reasonable. We are very much looking forward to going back for the regular menu (which looks great).
Soup is healthy and in good portion with fresh greens
Bread was heated first time and cold when asked for more
If you want to break bread with a few other couples, I recommend BI. We shared two bottles of wine. We ordered a $48 Primitivo but the maitre d' told us they were out. He recommended the US version, a Zinfandel. A huge hit for the same price. We lingered and enjoyed our meals. The carpaccio is uber thin and delicious and the lamb ragu is chunky and tasty. All guests enjoyed their meals.
We went for New Years Eve, and ate early in order to make it to another party. Despite eating at 6:15, our service and food were great. Wait time was extremely short because we were the first ones to order, but others didn't seem to have to wait long either. Our waitress's name was Tammy, and she took great care of us. She recommended a great bottle of wine, was friendly and professional, and made sure to check in from time to time. If you eat at Bar Italia and are served by Tammy, you are in for a better dining experience than usual!
Average, in exciting food. Good size portions and attentive service. Will not be coming back.
This was a great place for dinner. The food was great especially the antipasto for two. Also our waiter was knowledgeable and the service was great. I would definitely go there again.
This place is a staple for a good brunch. We were able to sit outside and the patio was quite full. Fast service, easy comfort food - always consistent.
the lunch menu for summerlicious was really poor. variety was bad and food was less than average.
Our group of four friends (multi generational) had an extremely fun evening last week at Bar Italia. Yummy food, super service, vibrant outdoor patio. Our server was fun, really attentive, informative, helpful and entertaining. I would recommend this for a fun evening with friends where you will feel relaxed and enjoy great food and wine !!!
Really good food. Second time there and really enjoyed lunch again.
From the moment we checked in I knew it was going to be one of those nights. It took about 10 minutes till someone greeted us. I finally had to say we have a reservation where I was told it will be a few minutes they are setting the table. The restaurant wasnt busy at the time so I don't know why the table wasn't even set.
Sat down we were brought menus and then for the next 20 min we waited till someone took our drink order. No water was brought to the table nothing. After ordering our drinks it took almost 15 min for our wine and beer to arrive. At that point we figured we better order or we would never see the waitress again.
We all ordered food came a significant amount of time later it was ok. The problem was the service nobody came to see how the food was if we needed anything. I definitely would never come back bc of the service you can get the food they serve at nearly any Italian restaurant nothing made them special or stand out.
Service was slow , waittress staff was not professional , we ate at 6 pm and many of the items on the main were all ready sold out ? Food was OK - not great
Went here for my husbands birthday dinner. Was upset that did not know about the 100 points or how i get them
Many friends had recommended Bar Italia to me, and I'm so happy I finally made it. Everything about the evening was enjoyable. Everything to the service to the scene to ambiance was lovely. The server was extremely knowledgeable and helpful and the food came promptly, considering how busy it was. My husband and I shared a Caprese salad and the grilled calamari which were both spectacular. For our entrees we had gnocchi gorgonzola, which was probably the best gnocchi I've ever had, as well as the alberta strip loin dish which was perfectly medium rare as asked for. The Tiramasu was to die for! Overall amazing experience, best experience I've had in a long time. Highly reccomend this college street staple!
We come every year for Valentine's Day.
Our server this year was terrible, she did not know the menu, was very inattentive, and really ruined the whole experience.
the food and ambience was excellent as usual
