Bar Italia Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
We had requested a quiet space to discuss business and everything about our lunch created an atmosphere that enhanced our professional conversation. This will be a regular meeting place. We are also planning an event in the adjacent meeting room. Thank you Bar Italia
authentically Italian rather than Italo-American. The Yohannes Brothers have been a staple for over 20 years and they have not wavered in their attention to detail. If it is not right it is not on the menu. Sometimes they cannot get good hearts of palm and the salad is taken off the menu.
Carpaccio is always a favorite as is the small plate primi of pasta marinara.
We love Bar Italia and go there often for special occasions, as opposed to for casual dining. The patio in nice weather is lovely. Food is always very fresh and delicious, with many great options. These options are unique and ones you may not find elsewhere. Service is also always wonderful - everyone there is nice and welcoming. We highly recommend it for someone looking for a nice setting, great food and middle-of-the road pricing.
We have been to Bar Italia a number of times and enjoy the patio during the summer. This time all of our food was either cold or almost cold by the time it was served. We saw steaming hot food coming out of the kitchen for other tables, but there we three of us and none of us had food that was even close to hot. What a disappointment.
We ate on the patio while listening to music. The ambience was wonderful as the weather cooperated. We had a large umbrella although not everyone gets one. Ask for one with your reservation. If the weather cooperates, I prefer the outside ambiance over the inside dark decor. The food is always good; tasty and creative. I prefer the brunch or lunch as dinner can get pricey, but is also good. Bottomless mimosas for Sunday lunch. The staff was creative with the cocktails and tailored made what we wanted. The restaurant is located in the Central West End on a wonderful street for walking and people watching.
We were seated outside. It took over five minutes for someone to bring a menu and water, another five for someone else to come greet us, another five for someone to take our drink order. After another ten minutes of waiting for the waitress to bring us our soda and tea (not a complicated drink order) and take our order, we left. After going to another restaurant, ordering and eating there, we walked back by. All of the people that were seated around us were still there. Not sure if they were taking their time or they were still stuck. I do NOT recommend this restaurant.
We sat outside as it was fairly pleasant weather for July! The staff was so friendly, helpful with choice selections for food and beer and attentive to needs. The food was wonderful and the overall atmosphere was very pleasant. I would definitely make it a point to come in again when in town.
My filet mignon tasted like it was a month past expiration date. My friends ordered some pastas which were good, but a Trader Joe's frozen pasta would probably have tasted better. The outdoor patio is pretty gorgeous but the restaurant relies too heavily on that. If not for their outdoor patio they would surely be out of business.
The service was horrible. We waited for over 30 minutes, then had to grab someone to ask for a server to order drinks. In total we saw our server maybe 3 times the entire time we were there. The food was okay but not worth the wait. This is the second poor experience I've had and I will probably not return here.
Service was just O.K. and not as good as we remembered from our last visit. The food was very good but not extraordinary. They need to update their wine list with some better known, more popular wines. The location is a key attraction, and the restaurant is priced below some of the surrounding "nice" restaurants. We would go again.
The food was very good. And we had a great overall experience! The staff was very kind and on top of things. It seemed was a bit pricier than necessary, but not so high as to be a deal breaker. The biggest detriment to the occasion was how we felt rushed through each course. Our entree was quickly delivered without respect to our appetizers. Then our plates were taken away while I was still chewing my last bite, and the check was delivered with dessert. Unfortunately we didn't observe the same hurry when we were ready to pay and leave. But overall, only minor complaints in what was a very enjoyable evening. Would recommend and will likely go back. :-)
