My husband and I were disappointed to hear that Bar Cotto and Anchovies and Olives are both for sale. That was one reason we went. We went on a Thursday evening at 7, and I am glad we had a reservation, the place was packed. In spite of it, the service was excellent. We had a couple of”damn fine negronis”, and they were. Good bruschetta to start, I love there mixed green salad, and the guanciale pizza. ( Very good, but I prefer the Parma.)
Better hurry in before it’s sold!
We received our drinks 30 minutes after sitting at our table and after our salad came. The soggy Pizza arrived, when we were halfway through , we received our appetizer :(. the food was average. The texture and taste were lacking. The service was non-existent, and the bill was high, including the 20% gratuity that we probably would have only given 15%.
Another fantastic pizzeria in Seattle! Not only were the pizzas excellent, I enjoyed the variety of topics, used sparingly to complement the sublime crust.
But do not miss out on the appetizers: the sampler of 5 cold cuts was excellent, especially given that all of the meat was smoked / cured in house. The burrata with eggplant was stellar as were the pork belly crostini.
Overall a great place!
PS: Avoid the desserts, but if you must - get the mint ice-cream + chocolate chip cookie sandwiches.
The happy hour menu is great value. We ordered two pizzas, salami platter and the bruschetta. I was dissapointed in the pizza as it turned rock hard a few minutes after it arrived. The crust was like cardboard and cheese turned into a layer of chewy plastic. The evening wasn't a complete disaster since the drinks were good and service was excellent.
Pizza was delicious!! 4 stars because I did not like my appetizer which was the broccoli crostini. It was very tart and over oiled. Otherwise we thought the pizza was outstanding. Our wine was great as well.
Service 4 stars because our waitress didn't come back to ask if she could get us another glass of wine, we had to flag her down and it was not very busy. But she was lovely and very sweet. Overall we did really enjoy this meal and will definitely be back for more pizza and wine!
This restaurant implements the mandatory 20% gratuity, which removes an incentive to earn that gratuity great customer service. The absence of this incentive is clearly evident by the exceptionally poor customer service. This has been the 2nd time this has happened.
Bar Cotto wasn't always like this. Having lived 2 blocks from it, the restaurant was excellent across the board. Once Seattle implemented the new changes to wages, I almost immediately saw a change in the performance of servers here.
On a short vacation to Seattle, we came here on a recommendation. Our pizza was very good. The absolute highlight came as we inquired about having an amari (aperitif) flight. Ottara, the bartender, came to our table and was enthralling as he consulted with to help us make our selection. Ottara's knowledge and enthusiasm was engaging and made our visit much more of an experience rather than just a meal. Thanks, Ottara.
Great pizza that is as close to nirvana as I have found out west. Thin crust with a crisp bottom and a chewy top and crust that is topped with just the right amount of sauce and cheese and any additions you like. Broccoli and the green salad were excellent. The Salumi charcuterie board and olives were a great starter. The service was awesome and attentive, we never had to ask for anything. About as good a dining experience as you could ever ask for.
We had a most enjoyable dinner here. It's mostly pizza, but good pizza. (Also specializes in salumi.)The ingredients are fresh and high quality. I feel as if the place has integrity: it knows exactly what it is and executes it well. Service was excellent with a friendly, helpful, attentive, knowledgeable server. It's a small well designed place with an intimate feeling. We shall return!
Pizza was pretty good but expensive. We got one of the pizzas that had meat on it and there was maybe one tiny piece of meat per slice of pizza? Beet salad was good but nothing special. The best thing about our visit was the cocktail of the day; it was some sort of Manhattan and was very unique! Service was terrible. We waited over 30 minutes to place our order and the pizzas took even longer to come out.
Bar Cotto is the perfect balance of old style thin crust pizza with the modern flare of unique ingredients on the menu. Incredibly cozy atmosphere with an open kitchen allows patrons to appreciate the fascinating nuances of the cooks throwing the pizza dough. Fantastic service between the servers, bartenders and even the cook came by to inquire about the meal. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys a good Italian menu.
The restaurant area is quite small but very cozy. When we first got there I think a staff member or 2 must have been on break because it took a few minutes for our waitress to break away to help us. Once everyone was back the service was great. Our waitress was very helpful and delightful. The food was fabulous. We had several items including the brussel sprouts, meats from their charcuterie and pizza. We watched the chefs make the pizza and they stretched the dough until it was nearly see through! Excellent food, great restaurant, nicely done!
