Bar Cantinetta is a small, quiet Italian restaurant in Capitol Hill with homemade pasta, pizzas, and a lot of romantic feels.
We made reservations for a Thursday night. When we showed up we learned it was a fixed price meal. We're glad we stayed because it was delicious.
This is a little gem of a restaurant. It is small and cozy, but not real loud. The menu is limited, but every item is top quality. We shared a delicious appetizer of fried artichoke, then two entrees....an awesome pizza and an authentic Bolognese pasta dish. Finally, some zeppoli with mascarpone to end the meal. Fabulous and highly recommended!
The management at this restaurant seems to be subtle, effective, friendly,
and superb. The servers really care about you.
Great food and service at this small neighborhood restaurant. The night we visited there was a large party of 12 that took up 1/2 the restaurant and they were loud he small kitchen seemed overwhelmed and we waited a long time for our entrees. The server brought us glasses of wine and apologized for the delay. Consistently good food. We will try again and hope it’s not as crowded.
Great food. Amazing service. Prices to die for. So glad we came!!!
Absolutely wonderful! Great play list! The seating is seating is close, but the food more than makes up for that. This is the first time in 8 years when we have been reminded of our honeymoon in Italy! Excellent food - every single dish! A definite repeat for us!
This is one of the best Italian restaurants we've been to. The fried artichokes, sausage pizza, and beignets were amazing. Service was great, small cozy space was delightful. We will definitely be back.
Very good service. Great Pici pasta and better than average pizza. Small but good Italian wine list. Will be back.
By far the best dinner I’ve had in Seattle!! Burrata antipasti, risotto with asparagus, affogoto semifreddo were flavorful, perfectly prepared, appealing presentation and amazingly delicious. Intimate, stylish atmosphere with knowledgeable staff that were attentive without being intrusive.
Awesome and fun experience!
Great find! Came here for restaurant week and would enjoy going back. Fun for a couple or a group of friends. Lovely food and service.
We love all the Cantinetta restaurants!! Always consistent and delicious!
Great date spot. Papardelle was yummy! The donuts for dessert were super yummy as well. Would come back here for a date.
Wonderful service and food, and prices seemed very reasonable. Wine list also excellent. This seems like a bit of an undiscovered gem.
Great Happy Hour!
Service very good, efficient.
Would definitely return!
Great Italian food, it's small place, but it's not as romantic and cosy as I expected. Instead it gets rather really loud. The prices are what you'd expect.
The menu is quite small, service was great and they offer great drinks. We loved the truffle pizza.
Excellent in every way, as always...
Have been here many times. This is a go-to place for us. I like the lighting and the cocktails and wines are always great. The chef chose to use Picci pasta (very thick spaghetti-type noodle) rather than the Casarecce with the braised rabbit specified in the menu. Several noodles were undercooked, leaving the impression that it was far to dense of a noodle to pair well with the braised rabbit.
We love this restaurant and since moving into the neighborhood, are there way too often. Really good food, intimate, warm, and super friendly service. I like that the plates are not huge, the menu is limited but every dish excellent, and appetizers are extremely tasty (i.e. the carrots are wonderful). Everyone we bring there loves it! Sometimes a little noisy but has not really been a problem for us.Overall, we highly recommend.
Great Italian restaurant right in our neighborhood. Very inviting staff with great service. Food was wonderful and the bar tender did a great job on my Old Fashion cocktail before dinner. We love this place!
Absolutely amazing service!! The food was delicious as well, but the standout was our server. He was attentive, helpful, and gave great descriptions of the food and wine. It does get a bit loud, but that’s only because it’s a small restaurant and it was packed! I would absolutely recommend it for intimate dates.
After many visits, we still consider it to be a great weeknight experience.
Very cute restaurant. Haven’t been here for about 2.5 years, but coming back it’s just as I remember it. Great service, tasty food, and a lovely atmosphere. I’d recommend it to friends.
I made my reservation for 745pm but was seated closer to 830pm. The restaurant called ahead of time to let us know there would be more of a wait for unplanned incidents that had occurred but we were already on the way. When we arrived they treated my party to a glass of prosecco while we waited. Once we were seated, everything went well with the ordering. The only concern I had was when one of our appetizers was delivered to our table. It was sort of a melted cheese on a rectangular iron type skillet that you eat with bread. Our waitress accidentally spilled some of the hot liquid coming off the plate onto my left arm. She had no idea until I made some noise and grabbed a cloth to quickly clean myself off. I hope that in the future you guys might use a different type of plate. Maybe a rounded edge plate that curves upward on the sides so that wouldn't happen again. It didn't hurt as bad but there was a small red mark on my arm after the incident. Our waitress apologized and asked me if I wanted anything to drink for the pain but I politely declined. Other than that I think my experience was pretty great. Please just be careful because others might not take an experience like that as well as I did. I know a number of things can happen and I was the lucky person that day. Overall it was a great restaurant and I would like to return in the future for a much better and hopefully perfect experience. I have attached a photo of the evil plate.
Love the atmosphere but on a Friday night excessively loud and only one waiter. Still, a Madison Valley neighborhood favorite.
It was fun to start at 5pm and watch the restaurant fill up with fun loving, food enjoying folks. Our meals were delicious, wine wonderful and our waiter helpful, friendly and humorous. Can't wait to go back!
I've been here 3 times, and all 3 times it's been great. The staff is very friendly, and the food is delicious.
We are frequent diners at Bar Cantinetta. Service was great and the Happy Hour menu provides several options at a great price.
Small menus mean everything is fresh. Happy hour has excellent values on some of their specialties. The servers are regularly accommodating, recognizing you if you are a regular. Not many tables , so reserve
Very small and it can be noisy. We asked our waiter to turn the music down. Why have music? The food was great. We never felt rushed. A neighborhood gem.
Food is amazing and such a great price. It is very small and can get really loud, if that’s not your thing I recommend going on a weekday! So worth it.
Met a friend at Bar Cantinetta for dinner on a Wednesday evening. We got a reservation, but it may not have been necessary. I arrived first and ordered a glass of wine. The server was attentive, perhaps a little too attentive, but that might be okay. When my friend arrived, she also ordered wine. We ordered an appetizer that we shared. The server encouraged us to order our entree as well and he would time its arrival. We both ordered pasta. The food was excellent. There isn't a dessert menu but the server recited the three choices. We also ordered a cognac, warmed. Overall, the experience was very good. The bill was not outrageous considering that we had drinks, appetizer, entrees, and dessert. I would return. My only suggestion is that a small salad or vegetable be included with the entrees. Our appetizer and entrees included no vegetables other than the herbs in the pasta, so it was unhealthy in that sense.
It was great, and we felt well taken care of. Thank you!
Cozy restaurant, friendly service but didn’t like the food !
We shared 3 plats, didn’t like the clams, pizza was mushy and scallops were ok, small plate for an entree.
Nice cozy interiors, yummy dishes. Loved, loved, loved the scallops!!! Portions were really tiny for the price though
This restaurant was cozy yet comfortable. Great ambience! We had the pleasure of sitting at the counter and interacting with the chef. Everything he prepared looked amazing. I have food sensitivities and they were very accommodating. Gluten free in house made pasta. Everything made from scratch. I had scallops and they made it Paleo for me. Great little gem of a place!
Too loud for old ears. How about some sound proofing in the ceiling ?
Millennial ears can handle the noise level, but it's Baby Boomer ears that have both the time and money to enjoy conversation along with good food.
Hugo & Jake, waiter & bartender, were outstanding.
Mentioned it was my girlfriends birthday on OT, but did not expect the level of service and care we received! They were so attentive, knowledgeable and willing to make our experience perfect.
We’ll definitely be back, thank you!
It was a great spot - they didn't have our reserved table right away, but they made up for it by giving us free champagne as we only waited a few minutes. It was great food and wine.
