What Insiders Are Saying
Bar Cantinetta is a small, quiet Italian restaurant in Capitol Hill with homemade pasta, pizzas, and a lot of romantic feels.
Phenomenal service, food, and atmosphere. Couldn’t have picked a better place for date night!
Fantastic food. Comfortable vibe. Excellent experience.
Excellent service with fine Italian cuisine. Great wine menu. Conveniently located in the Madison Valley. The pizza was true Italian pizza. The pasta was wonderful!
We love Bar Cantinetta for the food, the wonderful staff, and the ambiance. Truly one of our favorites!
We cannot wait to go back and try more of the selections.
Bar Cantinetta is a favorite of friends of ours so we decided to try it on our own one Friday evening. We arrived a bit early because we did not know if it would be difficult to park. As it turned out, we were able to park on the street a block away. We had our pick of tables and chose one in the corner so we could sit next to each other and talk. It was perfect. The waitress came promptly and announced that we were still in time for Happy Hour-an unexpected bonus! My husband chose their house Manhattan, made with rye whiskey, port and smelling delightfully of oranges. We selected the Insalada Mista and a pizza from the Happy Hour menu. The salad dressing was light and flavorful on the red leaf lettuce. The pizza had a nice crust but was a bit on the cheesy side. We shared both and they were delicious and filling. We probably should have stopped eating then, however, the Dungeness Crab Risotto from the dinner menu proved to be too enticing to pass up, so we shared that as well. It was creamy and full of crab meat. We also shared the Tiramisu for dessert. One thing we appreciated is that we ordered , except for the happy hour items, each thing seriatum. There was no rush even though the restaurant was full when we left. The bartender, Hugo, was especially delightful and attentive.
Went there on a first date. Excellent venue!
Good selection of foods; cozy table for two; noise level stayed manageable throughout the evening.
Great food all around. I got two apps and my guest and I both ordered entrees and dessert. This is a spot to come back to for sure.
We had our dinner al fresco outside and it was delightful. Great food, great service. I had the pasta and my friend had the Italian pizza. Both were delicious.
Always enjoy this restaurant. Service is great and food delicious.
This restaurant was good! It's very small, so you have to squeeze between tables and sit on benches, but the food was fantastic.
This is one of our favorite restaurant in Seattle. The food is always excellent and the service never disappoints us. I highly recommended.
They lost our dinner order. The waitress wasn’t paying attention and we had to tell her. Not enough staff. Disappointing
I’ve always loved Bar Cantinetta. We reserved a table for four and when we arrived learned it was a set menu only with a pork focus for each course. One person in our party was vegetarian & another doesn’t eat pork for religious reasons. We worked around it because at that point we didn’t have time to find somewhere else to go on such short notice and had somewhere else to be immediately afterwards. It would have been really nice to have been told at the time of making the reservation that it was a different kind of night with the set pork menu so we could have chosen to go elsewhere or come here another evening.
We made reservations for a Thursday night. When we showed up we learned it was a fixed price meal. We're glad we stayed because it was delicious.
An agonizingly slow 3 hour meal for 6 people. Food, when it arrived, was very good, but portions are tiny. Small portions are fine, as long as diners are aware. By the time you get your food, it’s too late to order more. My husband and I eat light, so we normally split an entree, but this was unsplittable. Service was good when we got it, but far too infrequent. One server for the entire restaurant. Go for lunch, not for dinner, and be ready for S-L-O-W service.
This is a little gem of a restaurant. It is small and cozy, but not real loud. The menu is limited, but every item is top quality. We shared a delicious appetizer of fried artichoke, then two entrees....an awesome pizza and an authentic Bolognese pasta dish. Finally, some zeppoli with mascarpone to end the meal. Fabulous and highly recommended!
The management at this restaurant seems to be subtle, effective, friendly,
and superb. The servers really care about you.
Great food and service at this small neighborhood restaurant. The night we visited there was a large party of 12 that took up 1/2 the restaurant and they were loud he small kitchen seemed overwhelmed and we waited a long time for our entrees. The server brought us glasses of wine and apologized for the delay. Consistently good food. We will try again and hope it’s not as crowded.
Great food. Amazing service. Prices to die for. So glad we came!!!
Absolutely wonderful! Great play list! The seating is seating is close, but the food more than makes up for that. This is the first time in 8 years when we have been reminded of our honeymoon in Italy! Excellent food - every single dish! A definite repeat for us!
This is one of the best Italian restaurants we've been to. The fried artichokes, sausage pizza, and beignets were amazing. Service was great, small cozy space was delightful. We will definitely be back.
Very good service. Great Pici pasta and better than average pizza. Small but good Italian wine list. Will be back.
By far the best dinner I’ve had in Seattle!! Burrata antipasti, risotto with asparagus, affogoto semifreddo were flavorful, perfectly prepared, appealing presentation and amazingly delicious. Intimate, stylish atmosphere with knowledgeable staff that were attentive without being intrusive.
Awesome and fun experience!
Great find! Came here for restaurant week and would enjoy going back. Fun for a couple or a group of friends. Lovely food and service.
We love all the Cantinetta restaurants!! Always consistent and delicious!
Great date spot. Papardelle was yummy! The donuts for dessert were super yummy as well. Would come back here for a date.
Wonderful service and food, and prices seemed very reasonable. Wine list also excellent. This seems like a bit of an undiscovered gem.
Great Happy Hour!
Service very good, efficient.
Would definitely return!
Great Italian food, it's small place, but it's not as romantic and cosy as I expected. Instead it gets rather really loud. The prices are what you'd expect.
The menu is quite small, service was great and they offer great drinks. We loved the truffle pizza.
Excellent in every way, as always...
Have been here many times. This is a go-to place for us. I like the lighting and the cocktails and wines are always great. The chef chose to use Picci pasta (very thick spaghetti-type noodle) rather than the Casarecce with the braised rabbit specified in the menu. Several noodles were undercooked, leaving the impression that it was far to dense of a noodle to pair well with the braised rabbit.
We love this restaurant and since moving into the neighborhood, are there way too often. Really good food, intimate, warm, and super friendly service. I like that the plates are not huge, the menu is limited but every dish excellent, and appetizers are extremely tasty (i.e. the carrots are wonderful). Everyone we bring there loves it! Sometimes a little noisy but has not really been a problem for us.Overall, we highly recommend.
Great Italian restaurant right in our neighborhood. Very inviting staff with great service. Food was wonderful and the bar tender did a great job on my Old Fashion cocktail before dinner. We love this place!
Absolutely amazing service!! The food was delicious as well, but the standout was our server. He was attentive, helpful, and gave great descriptions of the food and wine. It does get a bit loud, but that’s only because it’s a small restaurant and it was packed! I would absolutely recommend it for intimate dates.
After many visits, we still consider it to be a great weeknight experience.
Very cute restaurant. Haven’t been here for about 2.5 years, but coming back it’s just as I remember it. Great service, tasty food, and a lovely atmosphere. I’d recommend it to friends.
I made my reservation for 745pm but was seated closer to 830pm. The restaurant called ahead of time to let us know there would be more of a wait for unplanned incidents that had occurred but we were already on the way. When we arrived they treated my party to a glass of prosecco while we waited. Once we were seated, everything went well with the ordering. The only concern I had was when one of our appetizers was delivered to our table. It was sort of a melted cheese on a rectangular iron type skillet that you eat with bread. Our waitress accidentally spilled some of the hot liquid coming off the plate onto my left arm. She had no idea until I made some noise and grabbed a cloth to quickly clean myself off. I hope that in the future you guys might use a different type of plate. Maybe a rounded edge plate that curves upward on the sides so that wouldn't happen again. It didn't hurt as bad but there was a small red mark on my arm after the incident. Our waitress apologized and asked me if I wanted anything to drink for the pain but I politely declined. Other than that I think my experience was pretty great. Please just be careful because others might not take an experience like that as well as I did. I know a number of things can happen and I was the lucky person that day. Overall it was a great restaurant and I would like to return in the future for a much better and hopefully perfect experience. I have attached a photo of the evil plate.
