I am a regular at Cantinetta. And I normally walk up the hill to get here. The food preparation is excellent. The service is excellent. And the intimacy is like European restaurants. Family friendly and neighborhood but worth a trip for authentic Italian food. If you come on a Friday when I’m in town, you’ll see me!
Well prepared food
Happy hour menu looks to be eccellent
Great neighborhood place to enjoy a bite with friends!
Wonderful! Very charming place with attentive staff, good food, and great ambience. Be sure to make a reservation.
NYE fixed menu. A little pricey but overall pretty good. Would go again for normal dining experience but perhaps not again for NYE.
Lovely server who navigated an intimate dining room with ease. She was attentive and bright but not overbearing at all. The food was to die for - rich but balanced with seasonal ingredients. Oh! and everyone must try the tiramisu! We had another lovely evening at Bar Cantinetta. Can't wait to come back to one of our favorite restaurants in the neighborhood.
Outstanding food in an intimate place.
Bar Cantinetta always delivers a satisfying dining evening, but our most recent visit was, if possible, even better than usual. The gnocchi with pork sugo, to mention just one of the sublime pastas, had simplicity and savory style in equal measure.
Intimate and delicious! Took a guest in town from San Francisco and she loved it. The food and ambiance were fabulous
The chicory Caesar was swimming in salad dressing, but otherwise good was excellently prepared & served.
This is a small, cozy, hole-in-the wall bar/restaurant. The food is surprising good even though the restaurant name suggests it may be more a bar than a food destination. We had Caesar, pizza, clams and risotto and every dish was well executed and good portion. The cocktails are also well done.
I’m a regular - small not only neighborhood place but draws from all over. Excellent service and food
Lovely, small Italian restaurant. Really friendly staff. Lively ambiance. All the food and wine was tasty - the wine (Chianti), appetizers (burrata, arancini) and desserts (tiramisu, zeppole) especially were favorites.
Restaurant week is always awesome at Bar Cantinetta
Another fabulous dinner at this great neighborhood Italian restaurant. I had the Pappardella Bolognese and it was wonderful!
my birthday dinner was a very rare steak and luke warm mashed potatoes. I didn't say anthing because my husband and son were very happy with their meals. why be a 'karen' when we were so happy going out for dinner and having fun.
The food was quite good, however, I think the service in the kitchen that night was off. The kitchen burned something three different times--not only could we smell it but I could see it from where I was sitting. They left the front door open after that to air out the place, which then became uncomfortably cold. Probably because the kitchen was so discombobulated, the service was a bit slow. Miraculously, the food, when it did arrive, was very good. I'm not sure I'll go back since, for the price, I would expect much better service. And there are a lot of other places in Seattle that get both right.
This is a modest restaurant with small, friendly, dignified bar.
The food is exceptional Italian, served by experienced personnel.
If you ask for Hugo, they would presume you have been well served and are bringing a special person.
The seafood comes directly from the waterfront each day.
The range of pasta tastes is memorable.
I believe the wine list comes mostly from Italy,
plus many top local Northwest offerings.
wow, how have i missed this wonderful spot? went there to meet up with a dear friend for a long chat and relaxed dinner, and server Jeanine took amazing care of us with the pacing, the recommendations, and in general making our evening sing. we started with cocktails (i highly recommend "the cure"), then split a huge, fresh and delish chicory caesar, then segued into a two plates of the most perfectly cooked scallops, with a glass of sancerre. the dark-ish room and perfect soundtrack was a nice backdrop to one of the nicest evenings i've had in quite some time. i will be back!
The ambiance was crowded and much too noisy and the food was much too salty
It was our first time at the bar Cantinetta and had a great time watching and talking to chefs. The place was packed but everyone seem to be relaxed and enjoying their job. Definitely go back for awesome dishes and friendly conversation.
Amazing service and delicious food. Best spot in Madison Park!
Hugo always makes us feel welcome. We go there often because Hugo, the manager, makes us feel as a part of his family. The food and drinks are consistently excellent.
We had an unusually grand evening at Bar Cantinetta. We always love it, but this Friday was special. The food (the gnocchi) was unusually good. The cognac was spectacular. And, as always, Cantinetta felt like a neighborhood celebrating. A great evening.
Perfect in every way. Great way to start or end a week.
Portions were small and over-priced. Music was too loud. Chairs are uncomfortable. Service was okay. Not memorable.
Perfect place to celebrate a colleague’s work anniversary
You will find that the waiters are authentic.
They really understand Tuscan food and are quite ready to answer detail questions.
They are quite familiar with the Tuscan wines, and can help to get exactly what you desire,
or even help you explore with a qualified guide.
The hardest part is trying to decide which selection from a number you really want.
The service was attentive but the food was less than desirable. We had 4 courses and every course was over seasoned and overcooked. The quality, techniques and innovation needs improvement.
We're frequent diners at Bar Cantinetta. It never fails to create and serve excellent pastas, apps, and more. We appreciate the attentive, friendly service, and the consistently delicious food. Great spot for a romantic dinner, dinner with friends, special occasion or for those who love intimate spaces and delicious, creative fare.
The service was friendly and relaxed. Good eating in a great casual relaxed atmosphere...
Great neighborhood restaurant. The pasta dishes are perfectly executed and you can't go wrong with any of the starters.
Phenomenal meal from start to finish. We sat at the chef’s counter which was a fun experience, and got to preview almost every dish on the menu before ordering. The chefs were friendly and happy to provide information about ingredient sources, etc. The pancetta wrapped dates and heirloom tomato gespacho were out of this world. Highly recommend!
My favorite place to dine in Madison valley. Excellent service and menu.
Had friend from out of town. He has a ton of dietary restrictions and it was still a beautiful meal
Fabulous food and beyond service
100000000 thumbs up
We went to Bar Cantinetta for a date night and we’re seriously impressed. The ambience, food, and service were simply amazing. We will definitely be making this a regular spot!
We had a lovely evening enjoying the intimate setting. The starters were all delicious, especially the dates and beef carpaccio. The risotto was just like in Italy. And the tiramisu was a perfect ending to the meal. The cocktails and wine were also delicious. The service was attentive with great suggestions. We will definitely return.
Getting popular for the outdoor dining.
Also, this leaves a lot of room for inside tables which are as good as ever.
Seems to be attracting even more of serious later diners.
This has become one of my absolutely favorite places in the city. I love to sit at the bar and have a glass of wine and watch the food being made. Janine is a wonderful bartender, friendly and warm. I go to Cantinetta because the Bolognese is the best I have ever tasted. I think about it when I'm not there. And when I am there, and the dish is placed before me, with the wine ... ah. Life makes sense.
