Attentive service, delicious food
Special prix fixe meal for Valentines Day. Excellent food and thoughtful wine pairings. The staff are very attentive and friendly. The sommelier stopped by to chat about the wine pairings.
St Valentines Day. Probably not the best day to try a restaurant, but we’ve been to NYC restaurants (Daniel, Cafe Boulud, Bar Boulud, Boulud Sud), so figured we’d be okay. The food was good (most was great, but we had the beef and the short rib was very dry, which is really odd for a short rib. Also, the cocktail I wanted wasn’t available (not having a red champagne cocktail on Valentines Day was very surprising). We had an issue was with the timing - we felt very rushed. There was no time between courses. The plates for one course were being removed right as the next course arrived, which was right after we put our forks down. We had wine pairing with meal and we didn’t have time to finish one wine before the next course came. At one point I had 3 different glasses in front of me.
We did have an early reservation, so maybe there was an assumption we had a timeline, however, it wasn’t a pre-theatre meal (and we should have been asked if we had any time constraints before being hurried through).
the sommelier was over the top knowledgeable and adaptive to my palate...could not have been a better valentines day dinner
The food is mediocre but the ambiance is great. I would go for a glass of wine and a light snack.
Lovely! We had a tea party for my friend's daughter's birthday (she's 3) and everyone was just gracious and sweet to her. Yummy pastries, I had a nice glass of wine as we watched the world walk past the window. I would go back in a heartbeat
Enjoyed a very nice 3 hour lunch with friends on a Friday afternoon. The food was very well prepared and presented and the servers were very professional and knowledgeable. I would certainly return.
The food was delicious, the ambience was lovely and the service was warm and gracious. Will be back again and again... just a perfect place for lunch, brunch or dinner.
Having had wonderful food, service and atmosphere on many occasions at the Bar Boulud London we decided to try the Boston location. Big mistake. The room is very nicely decorated and the wine list is substantial and interesting, but that’s about as far as I’d go. The service, or lack thereof, was delivered in a friendly manner but was lacking in attention, quality, and totally of synch with our party beginning with the champagne and appetizers. The food, when it arrived much later was a disappointment to say the least. Definitely not up to any standard that you would expect to be associated with the name Boulud. Do yourself a favor and find another joint nearby if you are looking for something a bit special. This place is not.
The manager was so helpful and enthusiastic about their menu and the service was fantastic. All the food was amazing, the whole menu looked good so it was hard to decide what to order. We were there for a special night out and it did not disappoint!
This was our first visit to Bar Boulud and we loved it. We had 6:00 reservations on a Saturday night before a Boston Symphony concert so it wasn't very crowded when we arrived. The service was exceptional - the waiter and sommelier were very friendly and helpful, and the chef stopped by the table to check in near the end of the meal. And the meals were great. We'll definitely be going back.
Pricing is too high for product in general (especially wine and coffee). The duck confit was hard and dry, side veggies were tasty, though. Good cheeses, pates and cold cut board. Excellent steak + frites, and bass. Pear and maple dessert too sweet, and lacking in distinct flavors. Service was solicitous and consistently good. Level of noise was high and impeded a bit our conversation (dinner time on weekday).
I enjoyed the food, I had the Coco van and my wife had the Lobster pasta. Both very good Mine was a little light on the chicken receiving a small leg and thigh. Apps and desert were all great. Pricey for what we got. The Martinis were very expensive and glasses not full. I give it a B-
the quality of food and even the bread has gone downhill. disappointed.
Bar Boulud is conveniently located across the street from Lincoln Center. The menu accommodates many tastes and the food can be depended upon to be fresh and well
prepared. The offerings of cold meats and specialty French dishes are outstanding--
on this occasion we ate a wonderful cassoulet.
All was fantastic
Excellent wine and cocktails
All staff was exceptional
This restaurant connected to the Mandarin Oriental is definitely worth a return visit. It's less crowded (for no good reason) than many good downtown restaurants, so it's a good option if you don't plan ahead by several weeks.
Love everything about this restaurant... the food, the ambience, the wait staff, the overall service.
Great brunch spot
The service was truly exceptional!!
