Paige was of great assistance in planning for our group holiday get-togeter. Amiri was an A++
++++ waiter, gracious, knowledgeable and indefatiguable. I can't wait to have a group there again at the high top table with bar stools!
Birthday. Dessert was gluten free for my wife!
Second visit to Bar Boulud. Would definitely recommend especially for the ambiance. Cocktails are clever and the bread and starters are fantastic.
I hate to say it, but this was a huge disappointment. I have been to Bar Boulud many times before, with my family and with clients, and enjoyed it each time. This latest visit was different; either it was an off night, or things have changed for the worse.
We started by ordering cocktails from the bar menu. The server in the bar was very distracted. I asked if the bourbon used in my cocktail could be switched out for a different one, and was told that the drinks are premixed, which is surprising for an upscale hotel bar, and I said I did not want it. My wife ordered a different cocktail, and was told (after the server disappeared for 10 minutes) that that one was not available. We finally ordered a couple of glasses of whisky instead. When the bill came, we were charged for all four drinks, even though we only had two. The manager had to straighten out the bill, which took some time.
We then sat down to dinner with a friend who joined us after our drinks arrived. The server was very nice but the food was mixed at best. My wife and I shared the escargot, the bone marrow, the steak tartare, and the chicken liver mousse. The escargot was overcooked to the point of being charred to black and dry. The bone marrow consisted of half of one bone about six inches in length with almost no marrow; what little there was seemed to have melted all over the plate, apparently from being left under the heat lamp for too long. The steak tartare was too sweet from the addition of ketchup in the mix, which was a first for us. The chicken liver mousse was fine except there was much too much white pepper, which made it somewhat inedible.
All in all, I am reluctant to return.
Absolutely a fantastic night, our server STEPHEN was so fun and knowledgeable about the food and his recommendations were spot on!
Viande bien présentée.
Accompagnements décevants avec le ketchup éternel qui vous rappelle où vous êtes...
Frites « américanisées ».
Warm accommodating service in bar area at cozy corner booth. Great wine and appetizer choices.
This is probably one of the best restaurants I’ve been too in Boston. Highly pleased with the service.
Visited this place for a Sunday brunch. Found poorly prepared food way overpriced. Had the lobster scramble. Eggs were dry and poorly prepared. Cold bread was served with frozen rock hard butter. Onion soup was run of the mill, nothing special. Better quality available at much more reasonably priced places. Ambiance was very good. Excellent jazz group playing and well designed, high end interior. Go in and have a look (for free) but feed yourself somewhere else.
Server was hospitable and timely. Food was excellent. Bread was a little on the colder side. The sparkling water was almost flat. Otherwise it was a great experience at Boulud!
I had a wonderful meal with my husband on our first visit to Bar Boulud… the food was great and so was the service and the people watching. On my second and most recent visity with my girlfriend, the food was just OK-- My friend's steak frittes was a hard and mine was undercooked (red inside) for a medium request and had to send it back to cook it longer.
I was very pleased with my experience here. The staff was attentive patient answered all questions, and stayed on top of the dining experience all night. They made sure to do things exactly as I asked such as waiting to put in entrées until after we had our salads. The person who went with me said that it was the best one they have ever had and the best salad they had ever eaten. The ambience was wonderful end it was just an excellent experience . The staff was so attentive that when I left a package there they called me 15 minutes after I have left to tell me that they had found it and Wood hold it for me until I could pick it up. I would give this place five stars A++
Excellent. Ginger is a superb server. Great night and corner table, 24.
We were visiting Boston during the Thanksgiving holiday. The prix fixed menu was terrific, the service superb. Great experience.
As loyal patrons of the Mandarin Oriental establishment we had high expectations. Hugely disappoonted. Restaurant was 1/2 full but it took 1 hour from completion of order for entrees to arrive. A soup arrived shoetly after ordering but was luke warm. 3 entrees were brough to us not at once, but separately, and 2 of the 3 entrees arrived COLD. A side order of spinach was SO salty we had to leave it uneaten. Experience was so bad we didn't bother to order dessert.
The manager apologized for a kitchen gone amok, and took all food orders off the bill. I suppose for a 5-star establishment such as this, it was the proper thing to do, and the gesture was appreciated. Would have much preferred to have paid full freight for an incident-free dining experience.
I go to Boston 4 times a year and Bar Boulud is one of the favorites because of its consistent quality of food and convenient location. It is so easy to get to on foot or by car. They have valet parking. The atmosphere is comfortable for family gatherings and friends’ get-together and still suitable for business lunches. But on the most recent visit, I was disappointed by the level of their service. I had made a lunch reservation for 5 people and when we were shown to our table, 70 percent of the restaurant was empty. We weren’t fully happy with our table so I asked if any of the booth seats were available and was told “No, we are pretty full for lunch today and we always choose this table for our guests whose party is for 5.” We enjoyed our meal but when we got up to leave, the booth seatings and other tables were still empty.
I went for lunch on A Sunday. The service was fine, but kind of slow and servers seemed confused at times when asked to get something. The food was good but the French fries the worst in Boston. For a French chef-owner it is really disappointing. Athmosphere is really nice specially with a live band playing until 2PM and Bloody Mary was delicious.
Very good food - high quality with good service too.
Very enjoyable evening.
My bronzini was a bit vapid. Tasteless with dull vegetables.
Seamless service with spot-on French bistro cuisine. Everything was incredibly delicious, will go again.
Are solo. Great waiter. Had the salmon tartare and gnocchi and both were delicious. It wasn’t as quaint as I thought it would be and the wine by the glass menu was very limited so that was a bummer but overall a nice meal. I would go back.
We had a lovely evening with friends and were delighted that the restaurant is quiet, we could actually have conversation. The food was excellent too.
Abigail was our delightful server. She was attentive, well informed, and enhanced our enjoyment of our delicious dinner and incredible dessert.
Sorry that it is quite a commute from Vermont!
Consistently good food and service - my go to for lunch and dinner with small group of friends
Excellent dining for a business meal or date. Service professional, attentive, but not intrusive. Quiet, spacious dining area. Superb dishes, tastefully presented. Varied wine menu.
A FAVORITE! I loved the pate and fish luncheon. And the Purple Haze cocktail.
The service was good, our waiter quite pleasant and helpful. The food was just incredibly over-salted, to a point which we (four diners) had never experienced. Other than the clam chowder (which was lukewarm and oddly bitter as well as over-salted), without the salt, the dishes would have been fine. The quality of the proteins and vegetables themselves was clearly high, but individually, we all lost interest in the meal due to the salt content, had to send back multiple dishes, and left a fair amount of food on the table.
A great breakfast, the food was absolutely amazing and the service was top notch. I will say it would be nice if they had a french press coffee, the coffee is really good but on the table gets cold quickly in the stainless pots they use. My food, the Avocado Tartine was out of this world, and while they were out of the item i originally wanted, they combined into the item I had and really did a great job with it. The bread is amazing as well, baked in house, so for breakfast/brunch, it's a recommended place for a higher end place that does deliver on service!
I have been to all of Boulud's restaurants in NYC, which all were excellent. I was very disappointed by the food at this location, can get much better chowder and seafood at many, many other places in Boston.
found bar boulud by accident looking for anything with a reservation available on short notice for dinner before a show. could not have been more pleased with the experience. the service was impeccable and the food was delicious.
Food was excellent but portions are very tiny. I was hungry after I finished my one main dish and I am a small eater. I had the scallops which were perfectly cooked with Brussels sprouts. The dish came with only 3 halves of the sprouts. For a dish over $30 there should have been more of these.
We came back for brunch and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We had oysters to share delivered by the GM himself! My Bloody Mary was flavorful. The crab cake Benedict was sauced to perfection. The prix fixe menu offered a desert buffet which had everything from lemon raspberry tart to café pana cotta. We can’t wait till next Sunday!
The escargot was excellent. Lobster roll was very good, with a hint of tarragon. The roll was toasted but he surface was soft. The accompanying fries were excellent, hot, light with crunchy surface. For my greens, I ordered a side dish of "green spinach". Unfortunately, it was not lightly sautéed to keep it green as I had thought, but a soft pile of dark green salty mushy fiber. Just like cafeteria style. Ambience was casual and relaxed. The sound level was high, in part due to the glass wall on the street side.
Exceptional meal and presentation!!! Daniel's places never fail. If you are a true foodie, and appreciate a well cooked and curated meal, very few places compare to Chef Boulud's restaurants! I had the foie gras (superb), the bone marrow (unbelievable taste -the best part of the meal!), Duck breast (superb), and the chocolate bread pudding (the reason why I love dark chocolate!!! So deep and rich!). Wonderful place for great friends/colleagues who haven't seen each other in years, or to spend a beautiful evening with your spouse (next time, dear)!!!
Met a group of friends here for brunch. The server wAs professional and excellent. The dishes were well portioned and fresh. Wine was poured at the table, which I love. All good. I’m gluten free and they even brought gluten free bread which I didn’t even request
The food was par at best
Microwaved soup flavorful- branzino cooked well with cold accompanied veggies
Happily they remembered my daughters birthday
Food was fantastic. Great service (Julien our waiter). Desserts unbelievable.
Another near perfect execution for the great chef, Daniel Boulud.
Fun and breathtakingly delicious at the same time. Great service as well.
We really enjoyed our lunch. There were four of us and the service was wonderful. We had a variety of dishes. The brussel sprout salad was a wonderful dish to share, such great flavors. The cookie in a bag was cleaver, designed to go back to the office with you. It was quick and efficient service for the lunch hour crowd.
