Bar Americain at Mohegan Sun Ratings and Reviews
It was our first time there and our waitor was very nice and informative about the place and food. I liked how they put happy birthday on the plate.
The only thing i would complain is we were there from 6pm-8pm for dinner and dessert. Is that normal time --2hrs? It wasnt busy till 7ish.
Date night at Mohegan Sun, and this restaurant did not disappoint. Server knew of our gluten concern based on our on-line reservation note, and was friendly and helpful all evening. Tuna appetizer and pumpkin soup were excellent as starters. Wife's lamb chops were outstanding, and my Cioppino (seafood stew) was very good - all of the seafood and sourdough toast were excellent, though the mussels didn't taste quite right. I'd return to this restaurant if I am ever back at Mohegan Sun!
Good selection of food option: Tasting of All Three & Crab Cake must try out first with fresh taste, Rack of Pork also juicy and tender, finally Rib-Eye, NY Strip & Filet Mignon almost cooked perfect but little over burned outside with medium selection. Rib-Eye is my favor choice at this dinning. Don't forget to taste with Bar American Steak Sauce.
Overall nice dinning atmosphere but maybe too noisy from drinker(s)
Steaks were among the best we have ever had anywhere! You might pay more somewhere else, but you wouldn't get a better steak. We had the strip and the ribeye. Only downside to this restaurant was the service. For fine dining, the server could have done better.
This was our 3rd time at Bar Americain. Unfortunately, the service was not very good this time around. We ordered the crab cakes and they were very fishy. We sent them back. The waitress seemed annoyed. We usually love this restaurant and hopefully it was an isolated incident. We will try it again.
We had a great dining experience. Our waiter was very helpful and answered all of our questions. Was very familiar with all the food choices offered. We had tuna tartar and the lobster & avocado starters then onto to Salmon and seafood stew for our main courses. All delicious
Selection of choices were pretty limited. I ordered a filet that was supposed to be medium that came out more medium well and my friend ordered medium rare which came out medium. You would think that a place like this with the prices they are would be able to prepare the meats the way the customer requested. Not the case at all. Other than the quality of food, our server was absolutely wonderful. She was the only positive part of our entire meal. Will not go back and would not recommend.
Made reservations at 3 to eat at 5 on a Saturday night. Decided to celebrate anniversary a bit early. Arrived at 4:45. Seated right away, never rushed. We had Great service. I think Jen was our waitress. We both enjoyed a cocktail. Ordered appetizers. Husband enjoyed his clams. Very fresh. Served on ice.
I had one of the best French Onion Soups that I ever ate. Cheese was super creamy.
My Filet was good, but not outstanding. Steaks do NOT come with sides. Entrees do come with a side, listed on menu.
Husband enjoyed his lamb chops.
We had hot potato chips that were cold when they arrived, sent back, they were reheated. We felt they were not worth $10 price tag. (We were not charged for ours, but would not order in the future.) we were each brought a glass of champagne after our dinner. Nice touch.
Enjoyed pistachio crime brûlée - would order again. Would probably skip chocolate cream puffs with hazelnut ice cream in future. Didn't feel hazelnut had much flavor and they got a bit soggy.
Menu online was accurate for what we were offered. They do not offer specials, according to our waitress.
Family with two children arrived before our desserts arrived, and were seated near us. Older child well behaved. Younger child, in high chair, was not buckled in to chair and kept standing, I had to turn my chair since I was afraid that I would see the child fall and get hurt. I know that restaurant can not control this, but want to make readers aware that people do bring children here to eat.
Would I return - maybe - or for a special occasion I might try one of the other restaurants at this property.
Other than my steak slightly over cooked to my liking Iwas satisfied. The staff was excellent and professional and offered to take my steak back but I refused and told them not to worry about it. The steak sauce was to die for !!!! I will be back again. This was our Anniversary 46 years Married to the kindest , sweetest , loving Wife and Mother to our three Sons. I had to put that in there. True Words !!!! See you again soon !!
We were a party of 6 for dinner. Five of us had steaks which were good cuts of meat but the rub was overbearing. We enjoy spicy food but this was too much. We also had Tuna tartare which was not good at all. The positive: great Caesar salad and sides of mashed potatoes, mushrooms and cauliflower were all great.
Unfortunately, the service was lacking. The waiter was pleasant enough but not attentive at all. At one point my husband had to go to the bar to get a drink during dinner and that's just not ok.
The food was absolutely delicious the surface was impeccable, I would highly recommend this to anyone of my friends, however bring some extra money because most menu items are pricey, but the quantity match the price and taste was outstanding way to go and thank you Bobby Flay
Great service, but the food was pretty horrible and overpriced. One of our dishes had a side of toast that was 90% burnt black, which we had the chef redo. The oysters came with an awful sauce that tasted like straight vinegar. All of our entrees were extremely salty, especially the chicken cutlet dish. We went to the restaurant hungry and ready to eat, but didn't finish more than half of our meals.
We almost didn't get to eat because the reservation at the restaurant was 6:30 even though the only time available through open table was 5 PM. We rearranged our schedule to make the 5 PM time and when we arrived the hostess said our reservation was at 6:30. We were lucky to be seated.
