The atmosphere was upscale, really nice deep wood accents and nice lighting. We ordered the ceaser salad with the muscle dinner. The salad was exceptional with a really great bread mix on table. The muscles were fresh and tender in a green chile broth. The only issue was the muscles were extremely large shells 3-4 inches which made the meat very hard to eat as each one was a mouthful to the point of being unappetizing. The size probably should be noted on menus.

We enjoyed our visit to Bar Americain duting "Restaurant Week ". I ordered the ribeye steak which was cooked to perfection and so flavorful. My sister had tbe plank cooked salmon which she decribed as the best she's ever tasted. We shared a Caesar Salad to start. Also ordered the 3 style mashed potatoes and a vegetable to share. Fabulous. The waitstaff was friendly and efficient. We always try to get to Bar Americain each time we stay at Mohegan . We've never been disappointed!
Had dinner with friends who had dined there before. The service was great and attentive. The shrimp and grits appetizer I had was delicious as was everyone's steaks. The filet was the best I have had! Our only complaint was the sides of brussells sprouts. They were not cooked enough and still very hard to the point that you could not pierce one with a fork. Regardless, we will definitely return!
We dine here regularly but this visit was for a birthday. The food, cocktails, service and atmosphere were, as always, perfect. We had poached lobster and lamchops, preceded by super fresh clams on the halfshell. Birthday dessert was presented beautifully. A lovely experience.
The filet, crab cake, heartland salad, and tuna tartare were all excellent. The steak was cooked perfectly.
The mashed potatoes were terrible. Gluey, yet a bit lumpy.
Service was below par, especially compared to my previous visit. Waitress was barely attentive, and not particularly friendly.
Also, we got sat at a pretty lousy table in a corner near the bathrooms, even though there were plenty of other available seating options.
Not nearly the incredible experience we had on our previous visit.
Always a pleasure eating at Bar American. The sweet potato au gratin, the kale, the brussell sprouts, the chopped salad with rice and the Prime ribeye are our favorites. Excellent martinis. Sean, our usual waiter, is wonderful as always. He knows our names and drink orders by heart which is very classy. He is a good guy. All the other wait staff are friendly as well. Thanks again.
