Bar Agricole Ratings and Reviews
Love the food and the spirits program here. The table service was a bit uneven. We were at a table in the back which was great for conversation. But we also didn’t get the service I would have hoped for.
The food was fantastic and the drinks excellent. Later moved to the bar and got a full on education about their spirits program. That was the highlight!
Amazing food and cocktail selection. My boyfriend and I ordered an array of small plates for our date night, and also received a gift from the Sous-Chef. Everything we ate was delicious. From cheese plates, Yukon gold potatoes, and brined carrots: nothing was was amiss. My boyfriend loved the burger; one of the best he has ever had and he is quite the carnivore. We then followed up with the beignets and the apple tart. My boyfriend favored the beignets and I the tart. Both wonderful. Our server was Shandaeya. Extremely knowledgeable and polite. Another gentleman named Michael delivered a good bit of our food and was also amazing. In fact, every staff member we encountered was outstanding in their knowledge and demeanor. Congratulations to the Chef and Sous-Chef for creating a well balanced and amazing menu and the front of house management for hiring a service team of unparalleled quality.
We had a terrific time at Bar Agricole this past Saturday night. Usually we sit outside, but sat inside because of the weather. It was cozy and comfortable, the food was excellent and our server was great. The portions are hearty and the flavors are bright. We will return soon.
Service was terribly slow. They must focus more on drinks than food. My $19 hamburger arrived cold and soggy but this was after waiting nearly an hour and a half to get served. Portions are tiny and the food isn't very good. The happy hour drink deal is a good one though and I would consider going back only for that. I would never eat here again.
Food was very good - especially the chicken. Bartender was great. What made the evening kinda a struggle was the completely disinterested wait staff. I mean, it was obvious they would rather have been any other place on earth than at work this particular. It would have been funny if we weren't customers.
Gave this place a second chance after a horrendous first dining experience. Even with an apology gift card, the food quality wasn’t worth the vastly reduced cost of the final bill. I really wanted to like it, but from food to cocktails to wine list, it repeatedly fell short. Sad to say, but I’moving on.
Every dish is served with a heaping portion of attitude. Never have I felt so scolded for ordering a cocktail that was too mainstream. Host was a jerk. Despite asking for outside table, was told rudely that it’s first come first served. They screwed up my friends vegan meal by adding cheese, despite a long conversation about it. Then took 20 minutes to fix. Rest of table was already done. This place is too full of itself. “You’re not all that.” Instead of comping my friends meal, they poured us a terrible glass of dessert wine that tasted rancid. Although my food was good, not worth paying the price for the side of “we’re better than you.” Humble is no where on the menu here. Skip it!
It was a very special dinner before the wedding and special request was not heard at all and terrible service!!! Had to walk around myself to bring waitress to the table. It was so noisy that we could not hear the people in front of the table. Food came out very slow. Waitress was not friendly at all and in a rush and I had to ask another waiter upstairs to get the bill. It ruined our 1st family dinner before the wedding and now the bride's family who came all the way from korea have a bad impression of San Francisco restaurant and our family.
I have been to this restaurant in the past, maybe 4-5 times over the last 4 years and the food has always pretty good, however on this occasion it was actually quite awful. To start with the welcome from the maitre d' was unfriendly and stern. The menu was a little confusing, our vegetable side dishes came out before our starter. The main issue was the overall quality of the food. The charcuterie plate, which was around $28, was extremely pithy and and lackluster. I ordered the salmon, which when it came, looked like something I could have thrown together myself at home. Basically, rice, salmon and a couple of leaves, that was it. There wasn't any attention the presentation, it was as basic as it sounds. I understand that the salmon was organic etc but this was, by other restaurant standards, a very basic plate of food and for the price of $28 I would expect a lot more. None of what we ate was that good, we didn't talk about the food at all and I didn't take any photographs of the food because it was so obvious how bad it was. My husband and I were hosting some friends of our parents who had arrived for a vacation and quite frankly I felt embarrassed and sorry for them that this was their first experience of eating in San Francisco. I can only imagine that this place may be closing and that they may have 'given up' as that is kind of the impression we got from the food. This was honestly one of the worst meals I have eaten in the bay area and definitely will not be going back.
I went to Bar Agricole to celebrate my anniversary with my partner. It is where we had our first date and is also just a romantic spot with great food. After enjoying a couple rounds of delicious cocktails and several scrumptious appetizers, we were informed that the kitchen's fire alarm had gone off and our entree was covered in fire extinguishing foam. We decided to keep eating the appetizers and enjoy more cocktails while waiting on word as to whether the kitchen would close or not. Sadly, the kitchen shut down for the night. Our waiter was incredibly gracious and comped one of our appetizers and brought us some amazing brandy to apologize. It was easily the best brandy I've ever had. All around exceptional experience and food, even with the kitchen hiccup. Cannot recommend enough.
Went for brunch, and felt like the prices were way too high for the quality, taste, and portion size. Had the breakfast charcuterie board for $32, and it came with 6 slices of salami, some cheese, a soft boiled egg, and a couple pieces of cured pork. HUGE rip off. We had a few entrees as well including the breakfast burger - all below average dishes. The biggest let down is that the full bar wasn't even available (this place is supposed to be known for their cocktails). Weak experience, will not be back.
Brought a date from London here. While I’ve had good experiences here several times things have gone downhill. It was admittedly Folsom street fair weekend but they took my reservation. They had a private party on the patio that consumed all the attention. Service was non-existent, food was under seasoned, menu was abbreviated with no notice on the website, and yet I still spent 150 on brunch with two Lee-mixed cocktails and a bottle of wine. Overall super disappointed, and not surprised they are willing to lease out the whole patio, it’s the best they can get with food and service where they are. Lots of other great places in SF, don’t waste your money here.
I was a huge fan of Bar Agricole and I had not been in some time and went last night and was so disappointed. The food was average (and I’m being generous) and nothing even close to what it used to be. The menu was dull and not the fun exciting menu I used to go to Bar Agricole for. I ordered a salmon on very oily lentils that was flavorless, my neighbor had a dry looking chicken and the pasta looked horrible. Three of the options on the menu where bread based like in bread with butter.
Music was horrible, service was very slow, and overall it was not the experience I used to look forward to when going to this once amazing place.
We left disappointed by everything but the cocktails, which even though they took 20 minutes to make it to us, tasted great.
Unfortunately and sadly not going back.
I had to google to find out if the chef had changed and saw it did. Big loss.
Food and menu really good and well executed. The bar makes excellent craft cocktails. Interesting space but very loud. The service was unacceptably slow (this includes the bar), disinterested and disjointed. For a party of seven the mains came out two at a time with unacceptable gaps till the whole party was served. The first dishes out were not at optimal temps by the time the rest of the order was delivered. We always tip at least 20%, the tip was included on this bill, in no way was it deserved.
The food was creative and delicious. Try the chicken if you get the chance, the chicken was very well cooked with just right tenderness and clean flavor. The space of the restaurant was well designed with well put open space and lighting. Very clean line interior design. Good for large group of people to dine with delicious food that you can share with and good drinks.
Great atmosphere. We specifically visited to try the craft cocktails. We ordered old fashions. They were properly prepared. Single block of ice and the right proportion of homemade bitters and lemon rind (instead of orange, which is a new trend)
We ordered beignets to accompany the drinks and they were wonderful, the chocolate sauce side perfectly paired and balanced the dessert.
Highly recommend this place. Service was very good.
To usher in my 35th birthday, I turned to Bar Agricole to set the stage for a party to remember!
10 people with a last minute-ish reservation on a Friday?!?! Yikes.
Bar Agricole stepped up and delivered a great experience in expected and unexpected ways.
The place looks dope, the cocktails rock, and the staff (at least historically) are legit.
I had no idea where they were going to sit 10 people.
I had no idea if the noise level would be an issue.
And I started to worry about the menu for 10 people.
Don't worry, Bar Agricole is here. They responded with ease. They seated us downstairs away from the main hub of the restaurant, allowing a relatively noise controlled setting so we could hear each other talk. Our waiter anticipated that the menu for 10 would be a cluster F*** so he offered up a Chef's menu designed specially for parties of 10. Yessir.
Any downsides? Just one. Cocktails took forever to arrive--at times taking up to 15-20 minutes.
Have been here a few times. The food and cocktails are consistently outstanding as is the service. Great team of people. I went with a friend. It was money well-spent. We were there for 3.5 hours. Had a really great evening. We were never rushed. Tried a little bit of everything from almost every course. It's totally worth it. And the design of the restaurant is great. Beautiful art and architecture.
