We love everything about this restaurant. The family, food, wine, service. You just couldn’t ask for a more authentic experience.
This was a great find and came highly rated on another site similar to OpenTable. Everything we ordered was outstanding...yes everything! From the pasta, pizza, salads and wine it was a place we will dine in again. We were headed to see Beach Blanket Babylon and wanted a restaurant nearby. Wow! The whole evening was fun... from a restaurant with great friendly service and fine food in a relatively simple cozy space to the raucous theatre we enjoyed a block away. The six of us raved about how the whole evening was a winner!
20 minutes to take our order. Enough said.
Excelent lasagna. If you like thin crust style pizza, these guys really rock it!
Great food though a bit pricey. Limited seating but I guess that makes it intimate for dining.
This has long been a go-to place for pizza. Now I can say the home-made pasta dishes are exceptional as well. I'd never been on a busy weekend before, and the main dining room (which is pretty small) was very noisy, but the alcove in the back was perfect for a quiet meal and good conversation. I highly recommend.
We had a double-date here. My husband and i are meat eaters and our friends are vegetarian. at best, i'd say the dinner and desserts were moderate. Not a terrible spot to eat, but definitely not a 4-5 star experience.
What a good night! Good service, good food, just like at home.
We were seated at a private table in a small room in the back but it seemed like the wait staff wasn’t assigned to our table. I had to get up several times to ask for drinks and twice to ask for a check when we were finished. Great food but really lousy service. A little disappointing.
This is a nice place with homemade pasta and pizza. One downside is if you would want a non-pasta Italian main course (secondi), your options are severely limited.
excellent pizza and the staff was very friendly.
Truly North Beach Italian.
Whenever we are in San Francisco, we make it a point to get to North Beach and to this restaurant. Not at all a touristy Italian restaurant scene. Family run and really fantastic food and friendly service and atmosphere.
This is our favorite place in North Beach, and one of our favorite restaurants of any kind in the City. A family-run place where the lasagne is the best anywhere and the pizzas are outstanding!
North Beach no longer has the quality restaurants it once had. That being said Baonecci Ristorante is probably one of the best today. Food and service were very good.
Unreal. Food is fantastic. Some of the best pizza and pasta you'll ever eat. Family-owned and they love pizza and pasta with a passion. Come and eat. I recommend 2 pizzas and a pasta to share for a two person table. You'll leave sooo full and happy. Excellent. Im craving it now!
The food is genuine and excellent.
A lovely dinner! My husband and I started with two yummy salads and then shared a thin crust pizza and one of their house made pastas, both of which were first rate. We also had a few glasses of red wine that complemented the meal nicely. Service was excellent and the overall atmosphere was convivial and warm.
Very pleasant dining experience at this family run cute restaurant. We figured pizza is their specialty, so we had 2. Monte Bianco-really enjoyed this one! Salamino piccante&salsiccia was a bit too salty for my taste, but same thin crust. Would love to try couple different ones next time, recommended by our waiter. Bionecci salad was very good-perfect combination of flavors and good quality ingredients. Sangiovese, house wine, was decent. We shared home made Tiramisu, since it had some great reviews. It was just OK-nothing to remember or compare to amazing desserts you'd have in Tuscany, unfortunately. Overall good experience and reasonable price for SF; will be back at some point!
Best pizza in the city! Crispy! Fresh! Delicious!
We were here a week ago with a large group and my wife didn’t sample most of the delicious food (I have no problem eating & socializing!), so we had to give it another whirl. Once again, a great time- friendly, efficient staff. And the carpaccio, tagliatelle bolognese & pizza truffle salume are not to be missed! The tiramisu was a nice, light interpretation of the dish & we didn’t feel weighed down by 4 courses. The wine list is quite nice, from the by-the-glass (but DOCG) Chianti to the sublime Sassicaia. I enjoyed the Super Tuscan by the glass.
We live in SF, but don’t get to North Beach as often as we should- thanks to Baonecci, this won’t be a problem any longer!
Authentic, neighborhood feel, delicious
Easily my favorite spot and great family run business!
Great folks and great food.
First time at the restaurant and was looking for a casual business meal ambiance. Well I found it here as the service was friendly and attentive. The food was prepared with the care of being fresh and delicious.
I highly recommend this experience and will return again.
Great fresh pasta. Awesome pizza. Good service. Thanks!
A dinner with friends calls for great food that can be easily shared, a cozy ambience, no ridiculous line and wait and simple delicious food up and down the menu. Everyone loved the meal. The wine selection was a wonderfully succinct and pairs well with the menu. I think the food always comes first. Love the family run restaurant.
As always, the Gambaccini family from Lucca provides a delightful meal and evening. Great food, and a friendly Italian family hosting it for you.
The staff at Baonecci is very welcoming and accommodating. The ingredients they use are fresh and the combinations well thought out. Our salad was crisp, the dressing was subtly flavored and the thin apple slices brought a nice, unexpected element to the dish.
The wine list is also well considered. I've had a few different bottles at Baonecci and each was distinctive and flavorful. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Terrific family run, local North Beach Italian restaurant with very high quality food and comfortable seating. Risotto was hi quality and pizzas were great. Highly recommend for business, casual, lunch or romantic dinner.
Food was very good, but quite costly for the portion size. The waiter said he would bring bread, but never did. All the tables around us received it. When we asked for some at the end of our meal, it was as though we had asked for free dessert or something. We dropped the issue. It was a busy night for the restaurant, but it's hard not to feel that we were rushed in and out. We had also requested a window table when making the reservation, but did not get one, despite a table remaining open at the window for the duration of our stay.
Great pre theater show with the family
Our first time here. The pastas were fantastic and authentic. The service was welcoming and attentive. A real find in a sea if so-so Italian restaurants.
Had family in town for the holidays. Fantastic homemade Italian food!!
Very friendly atmosphere, authentic Tuscan cooking in the heart of North Beach. Eggplant parmesan was delicious, pizzas have thin crunchy crusts and are ideal for one person. All are homemade with fresh ingredients and it is evident in the taste.
The service was great from start to finish. The food was delicious and very authentic. Highly recommend for a casual date or dinner with the family.
Unfortunately this review is a little tainted since we went on the same day as the Santa Bar Crawl in SF. But needless to say you better be very patient when you go here. It took an hour and a half to get one order of carpaccio and a small pasta plate. Both were great, but I was hungry and I just don't like waiting that long in a restaurant. Also, the sign on the door said reservations only, but slowly as more and more people just opened the door they were allowed to get tables. It became noisy and just annoying, especially since we were waiting an hour for one plate of pasta, which ended up being pretty small. Bottom Line: Great Italian food, but its slow and might be a loud place to sit to sit and wait for it.
This is a North Beach hem. Best thin crust pizza in SF
Came here after reading Yelp reviews, it doesn't look so inviting from the outside, but glad we gave it a try. We found the best thin crust pizza in SF. I part of me doesn't want to say that because I want to be able to get a table whenever I want. But if your looking for Neapolitan thin crust pizza this is the place to go. The owner is always there, him or his son, and my only feedback for them is your one and only waiter, teach him how to smile and be more friendly. The owners always take the order as far as we've been there, but the server serves the food and he looks so unhappy and never smiling. But honestly we just zone him out cause we have the best pizza in front of us. But that would make the experience even so much better. I also think they should have a little bit more affordable wines, the pour isn't so great either, we might stay longer and order more if there were. But we will definitely come back to this great Italian place!
