We know… our fare is not inexpensive, due to high quality ingredients used for each dish, plus for the love of an Italian woman that puts her heart in every dish that she cooks for you.. As we say in Italian “ non si può avere la botte piena e la moglie ubriaca” “you can’t have both a full caraffe of wine and a drunken wife”
Buon Appetito! "
Nice authentic Italian restaurant. Good food and service.
This restaurant is truly amazing! Because it's family run, the service is amazing and the food is unreal. Pizza was great, pasta was great, apps were great. It all felt like you were teleported to Italy. Couldn't have been happier with this meal!
I love Everything about this authentic family run Italian restaurant. Best pizza, pasta and dessert! The wait staff is family and they are incredibly sweet. Can’t wait to go back!!
We had another great dinner and evening at Baonecci, and again brought friends along with us who had not been there before. They were delighted as well, as much by the food as by the Gambaccini family and their gracious hosting.
Best plates of pasta that I know of - from their unique (to me, anyway) arrabiata to the best pesto I've had. Get something with their house-made noodles and you can't go wrong. Good wines by the glass as well. This is a small, bare-bones place that can get loud, but mostly it's just a kitchen dishing out great food at really reasonable prices. High quality.
Fabulous meal authentic Tuscan. Return often
The restaurant was new to us out-of-towners. It is smallish and reminded me of neighborhood restaurants in Paris, where you get excellent food and the atmosphere of a local clientele. I ordered the eggplant parmigiana--the tomato sauce was rich and deeply flavored. Excellent overall. Delicious foccacia; salad was perfectly balanced and very fresh, with beautiful slices of succulent pears. I'd definitely return and would recommend it.
The food and service are outstanding . Best Italian restaurant in North Beach!!
Best Italian food I’ve had outside Italy.
Best pasta in North Beach !
Best Bolognese pasta in the US! Every dish was great.
I don't want to tell everyone about this gem, so you are welcome. But, it is tops for authentic Tuscan food.
Rude staff. If you’re not buying wine, good luck from the older waiter. Stale bread without oil. No attention to detail or warmth. What a shame as the homemade pasta is great. Really pathetic.
Unique pasta dishes with great house made noodles. The arriabiata is screaming good. Maybe best pesto I’ve ever had. Nicely curated wine list. Just really good food that stands out in a neighborhood overrun with pasta and pizza joints.
Lovely feel of SF as it was 30 years ago. Real. Good. I’ll be back.
nice atmosphere. delicious food. excellent service. we discovered this restaurant six months ago and return often bringing family and friends. we highly recommend it for an intimate evening or with a group.
Incredible. Face meltingly good food. Amazingly sweet and accommodating staff/ owners. Love this place so much. If you’re in the area, take a detour to eat here.
Small but intimate and charming restaurant. Great food and service! We enjoyed our pizza and mushroom risotto. The other dishes coming out to the other tables also looked amazing and smelled heavenly! Can't wait to go again!
We come to San Francisco once every 4 to 6 months and we must stop here for a good Italian food. A great family restaurant!
Had a delicious dinner! Service stood out. Our waiter Elias is a gem. Attentive and funny. Son of the chef Stephanie who greeted us and made us feel at home. Delicious pizza with the lightest crust I’ve ever had. Excellent pasta as well. We will be back many times I’m sure! Don’t miss this neighborhood fun dining experience.
Love the food and causal environment
Fabulous, truly Tuscan cooking made and served by gracious family!
Delish pizza and risotto! Enjoyed the salads as well. Service was excellent. Wine list a great mix of Italian wines. The restaurant is neighborhoody for sure. Feels like one is transported to Italy.
From out of town and saw this listed as one of the top Italian restaurants. We had the lasagne and mushroom ravioli and loved it! Reasonably priced, cool little place. Would definitely recommend it to anyone.
We're out-of-town tourists but have visited Baonecci the past three visits to San Francisco. It's just plain fun and delicious. We like the North Beach vibe and the intimacy and the fantastic food. Looking forward to the next trip! All generations rave!
In a world filled with too many copy-cat pseudo Italian restaurants, Baonecci sands apart as a true, family run Italian/ Tuscan trattoria. The family hails from Lucca and have brought generations of culinary prowess to this lovely, intimate restaurant. The food is great as is the service friendly and authentic.
If you can't make it to Italy this weekend - this is the next best thing.
Charming, Delightful and Delicious! Service with a smile.
Such amazing food and a lovely casual restaurant with very friendly and family style service. We loved it and will be back!
We love the food and their service. Great place for fresh pasta.
Delicious food, prepared with lovely attention to detail. Attentive, warm service. We will be back!
Excellent place for a good Italian food served by great people in a family restsurant
I had the Zuppa Garfagnina, that is, the cannellini bean and farro soup as it is made in the Garfagnana Valley, just north of Lucca. I asked for olive oil and fresh cracked pepper on top as I have had it before in Lucca. They were provided very promptly and the zuppa was authentic and excellent. I followed this with the Eggplant Parmigiana because all of the students at a Civic Kitchen vegetarian cooking class I recently took said it was the best in S.F. It was, and the serving on the antipasti menu was large enough to be a main course. My partner had the Pizza Baonecci which is conceptually interesting, a very thin "00" crust with fresh mozzarella baked in and then topped with the finest quality Prosciutto crudo, arugula, and shaved Parmigiano ( which goes up in price 25% thanks to you know who in the White House). The service was attentive (we had a 6:00 p.m. reservation) and they were turning customers away at 7:30 p.m.
Great AUTHENTIC Italian restaurant. The family-run (from Lucca) is the closest thing to sitting in Lucca and enjoying the great food of Italy. A full range of antipasti, insalata and many choices of homemade pasta. The pizzas are excellent, and again authentic. Enjoy!
I love this restaurant. It is the only Italian restaurant I will go to. The sauces are so fresh and I feel like family. Love this place!
Excellent service, exquisite food and lovely ambiance. They treat you like family!
Very friendly and engaging servers/owners. Outstanding food. Quaint restaurants.
Amazing, mild pesto. Perfectly cooked pasta. Unique and very memorable pizza with mozzarella, garganzola and crisp, thinly sliced pear. A meal to remember!
Always a pleasure to be with the Gambaccini family and the wonderful food Stefania cooks. We had a house ravioli, a pizza, a lasagna and a faglioli (a beans and sausage appetizer I am probably misspelling), and a bottle of chianti from their relatives. A great evening.
