So glad we had reservations! We walked in and were met with a standing crowd. The gyoza were amazing. The unagi was the best we've ever eaten. The place was humming. The staff kept up with the Valentines crowd. We will be back soon.
This had a 4 1/2 star rating. But we didn't think it was that good. They didn't give us the booth we had reserved. The wait staff was good. The food was fair. And it wasn't cheap. All in all, we would not recommend it. It was fair, nothing special. Our neighborhood place is way better.
Banzai Sushi is one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants. The food is consistently yummy, great sushi, fun combos. We really like the servers and staff, very respectful and professional. Food is reasonably priced. We'll be back!
Let is the best! He remembers us every time. Love the food and amazing amount of rolls. Also enjoy that the sushi roll menu is categorized by what is in or on the roll. Excellent as usual.
Great little place. Not a lot of room- which means not good for children. Great service, very friendly and attentive. The food is wonderful- great rolls too! Great for couples or small parties of people.
I will most likely never eat sushi anywhere else again. By far the best food, service, and value. Very small and intimate. Make reservations!!!
Sukiyaki was really good. Steak hibachi okay - steak great flavor but vegetables only warm. Server's first night but she did a fabulous job. Very attentive but not overly so.
They have over 100 sushi rolls to choose from, and you can't go wrong. Great service. So glad they now take reservations. I've been a customer for over six years and he has for even longer. A must try and repeat!!
Great service! delicious food as always! My favorite is Tokoyaki and udon.
I've been going to Banzai for over 20 years and despite a change in ownership 3 times during that period the food continues to be consistent and delicious. If you like sushi rolls then Banzai is the place to go...they have so many variations it's pretty hard to choose, but regardless you are assured that whatever you choose it will be good. Enjoy!
It's hard to find good sushi in Denver. Banzai was decent, I would go back, but I wasn't wowed or anything. I was a little frustrated that the rolls weren't really holding together though. The menu is a bit intimidating with so many rolls, but that's not necessarily a bad thing!
a neighborhood favorite, we greatly enjoy the innovative and yummy food at banzai sushi!
The sushi selections at Bonzai are always fresh and tasty. They have wide variety of choices and all of them have been delicious as I work my way through the menu. The owners and staff are friendly and accommodating.
Great variety of fancy rolls. Fresh!
We tried a number of the items, and they were consistently good. Various rolls from the top 20 menu as well as tuna, and yellow fin. We eat at a number of restaurants on the east coast with fresh fish, and this was comparable to most. That's why the 4 rather than 5 stars. Very good for Denver, middle of the country, so definitely a good place for sushi.
We always enjoy Banzai Sushi, they have terrific sushi and are always coming up with fun new combinations. Very sweet server and manager. We'll be back!
We go to this restaurant often. Very good food at good value and very good service
There are many great sushi places in Denver, but this one is our favorite. We are willing to drive from north Denver during rush hour traffic to eat at Banzai Sushi, it is just that good!!
was referred by friends who loved this place and am now hooked!
banzai sushi is the best! we'll be back for more of the imaginative and delicious sushi, hibachi, miso soup and salad.
Amazing they even have sushi with no rice for those who can not eat rice. Awesome price and amazing food.
Went on a Thursday and it had a decent number of people there. A lot of the rolls are Americanized, but the massive variety means people who aren't a fan of the more traditional stuff can get something too! Non-sushi fair is also available. The only major problem I had was that they sliced some of the rolls so thin that you couldn't pick them up with a pair of chopsticks without them falling apart. Other than that, the food was good and will definitely eat there again.
It was indeed impressive to see that they feature 100 rolls on their menu; we tried a couple of them. Also impressed that they had uni (sea urchin) and toro (fatty tuna). All of it was pretty good, I have to admit, but I have to admit I thought the price was a bit high (yes, even with the uni and toro).
For us, the checkbox "neighborhood gem" truly applies, but we don't just go there because it's close by. Banzai serves up a wide variety of sushi rolls and we've never been disappointed with any of them. Although we generally go with our tired & true favorites, they have recently added a few new items that have proven to be very good. Dinnertime is often busy, but lunch is excellent and a true bargain. Our experience with service has always been quick and friendly.
We went because it was closer to our other plans for the evening and had heard that they had takoyaki. I'd never had takoyaki before and it was good but I have no basis for comparison. We tried a variety of sushi rolls and appetizers. We liked some better than others. Overall I found it to be an excellent experience and I would go back again if I'm in the area.
I try a different roll every visit and each one is better than the one before.
Always wonderful! Great food, friendly, helpful waitstaff....
We greatly enjoy the varied menu and creative sushi at Banzai Sushi. We'll be back!
Great sushi roles, Suzi, Rusty, Jeffry's. Our favorites.
Very friendly staff was seated right away. Try setting at the sushi bar and enjoy everything you find unique. Only draw back I notice was that there rolls just came apart way before you even grab your chop stick. Overall I would recommend going before the dinner crowd.
We went for Valentine's so it was naturally crowded. It's a small, homey location so probably better and more private in a booth. We were seated in the middle of the restaurant, close to other customers which wasn't ideal and pretty loud. The sushi was excellent but I wasn't too impressed with the appetizers, especially the calamari which was a bit rubbery and nothing special. Service was pretty good, but being such a busy night it wasn't amazing. I'd go back on a less busier day and just sushi.
This was our first time there and we will definitely be back. The food was delicious.
This recent visit was disappointing. Tempura was cold and chicken teriyaki was hard as a rock and they drown their salad w/ dressing. Tips for is for to order the salad w/ dressing on the side and tell them not to let the tempura sit in the kitchen while waiting for other entrée to complete. Customer service is ok but make sure you clearly explain to server who speaks or understand English.
Even thought it was New Year's Eve, we ordered sushi that took almost an hour to get to our table. We also ordered Hibachi beef was was delivered cold and flavorless. Have had good food before. Waiter just ignored us when we kept asks g about our food.
We've been dining at Bonzai's for years. They have some of the best sushi in the city! Their toro is melt in your mouth delicious, as is their smoked salmon and yellowtail...like velvet. Their selection of rolls is impressive and all we've tried are fantastic. Their unassuming location next to Monaco Lanes makes it less of a standout than other, more trendy and more expensive sushi restaurants in the city. But it's a special little place...and more than satisfies our regular sushi craving!
A young baby cried throughout our entire meal- I think at some point manangement should have said something to them. It was super distracting for us and they just left her in the carseat .
I was astonished at the lack of hospitality at this restaurant. The food was mediocre at best.
The staff literally kicked us out at 9:30 when they list that they are open until 10:00. The manager actually told us that they close early when they are slow. I understand this practice after being in the hospitality business for 23 years, but I can't imagine that you'd actually kick people out of a restaurant. I would never return to this spot nor would I recommend it to anyone.
Banzai is our date night scene! We aren't sure when they're busy, but when they are it can be hard to find a seat. Reasonable pricing for delicious sushi! They offer desserts, appetizers and other dishes, but we mainly go to enjoy the imported wine, beer and sushi!
My wife and I along with 4 good friends had a great time here. Very good atmosphere, and great service provided us a very fun evening.
Loved the atmosphere...not so modern and highly shiny like so many new restaurants that just create bounced noise. Great place for conversation and yet still has the energy of a vibrant place. Liked the fact that there were many Asians eating at Banzai. I recently rediscovered this restaurant. It used to be a favorite when I first moved to Denver about 35 years ago and forgot about it after I moved to new neighborhood and had a family.
Definitely will be back frequently. In fact my friends that I brought along the last two times raved about it and beg me to bring them back when they have a craving for Japanese food. I like the fact that Banzai serves good basic authentic food and not much Asian Fusion. Yay!
