Comfort Food
Bannock is cool, confident and unapologetically Canadian. Centrally located at the corner of Queen and Bay in the Hudson’s Bay flagship store, Bannock offers a warm and inviting space for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch.

Bannock's honest approach to food is rooted in familiar, wholesome ingredients that are reflective of Canada's rich regional and cultural diversity. Dynamic and playful dishes like the decadent Duck Poutine Pizza and the iconic Arcadian Court Chicken Pot Pie are rounded out by a variety of other classic comfort dishes. The cocktail list is fun and cheeky, while the approachable wine and beer list have a clear Canadian focus.

Bannock has great food and service. It was a great spot for a lunch that was both relatively quick and delicious, and offered a menu that takes you away from the everyday average restaurant. Would definitely come again.

Reason for the 4/5 stars was because the restaurant had an ambient temperature of ~26 degrees at 1pm-2pm on Apr 19. I don't know if this is typical for an after-lunch temperature in the restaurant, but it was almost uncomfortably hot, making us enjoy when guests came in through the side door to bring in the outdoor breeze.

A breath of fresh air as you step off the street. Wonderful flavourful food that is cooked and tastes great. It's the kind of place you want to go to everyday. Best of all, chicken pot pie never was served better!

I was pleasantly surprised, had the best restaraunt salmon ever. Cooked perfectly! My husbands fish and chips was excellent as well. Service was great! Ambiance very nice. Definitely will revisit when I am in Toronto again for a show.

Light and airy atmosphere. Open kitchen. Lots of light from large windows. Food was fresh and so so tasty. I had the Veggie Bannock and it was amazing; their cappuccino hit the spot. Service was excellent; I wish I had got his name! Servers appeared to work in teams of 2, bringing food and drink, clearing tables and filling water glasses.

Would definitely go back!

We were a bit late for our reservation and we were brought immediately to our table by a friendly waiter. We also had a time restriction and we got our food quickly. My husband had fish and chips and the fish was so salty you could only taste salt no fish. The noise level was too much for me. Wait staff very helpful and nice.

I've been to Bannock several times over several years and always LOVED it. This most recent visit, however, was disappointing. The previously big and juicy turkey burger was replaced with a thin, flat flavorless patty. When I asked for a side order of brussel sprouts they omitted the taro chips that normally go with the burger, I had to ask for them (since I was paying full price for the side dish I didn't understand why the chips that go with the burger anyway wouldn't be there?) Then I got a side plate with 4 chips on them. Couple this with a 14oz 'pour' of beer (sorry but a beer should be 20oz, the whole thing was very 'meh'. My husband ordered the steak and said it was undercooked and flavourless. I'll probably go back one more time and if it's equally disappointing, it'll be my last time in.

We tried Bannock for the first time during a gift weekend mini-holiday in Toronto. Hope to return. Enjoyed everything about it except the noise level. A really full restaurant full of people trying to talk to each other doesn’t need additional loud music. Fortunately our fabulous server cancelled out that concern and the great food beautifully presented made us want to return soon.

First time there and staff was so great at recommendations and making our experience unique. OUr food came very quickly and all at once which was excellent as there were 7 of us. We were a bit late for our reservation and they were very understanding and accommodating. Excellent experience overall. Highly recommend it.

Bannock was recommended to us by a friend and we weren't disappointed! Our waitress was outstanding - friendly and accommodating. Three of us had the fish & chips, which were very good and the other person had the steak. Both the soups (the blue corn and the tomato) were said to be very good. Would definitely recommend to friends!

Needed some comfort food on a cold and winter day. She had the turkey burger, I had the chicken pot pie. We paired them with lovely cocktails at the advice of our attentive but not overly fussy server. A quintessentially Canadian experience. Loved it.

Our server Nick was great! Very personable and knew the menu well to suggest what we should have since there were so many great things to choose from. All the staff were very upbeat with smiles. They didn't rush us even though it was busy. Great original dishes and choices if you are not that daring of good Canadian food.

Food and service were great, but the place was like a sauna (and really loud). I’d go there when it’s not so crowded and when the heat is no longer in use.

We had the worst experience here. I will definitely never go back.
The restaurant is called Bannock. I know what Bannock is, so therefore we ordered the Bannock box for an appetizer. What comes is Dempsters whole wheat pitas that have some seasoning and grilled- also comes with Hummus, something else that would never ever be served with Bannock. From those of us who know better, pita is not bannock. So guess what, the bannock pizza poutine we ordered was also not on bannock.
Food came out cold and we weren't even introduced to a server for the ENTIRE evening. I complained twice, the assistant manager was helping out as much as she could but we were still 100% ignored by the server she pointed out as ours from across the room. We ended up getting some discounts on our food because our service was non-existent. We told that it is never usually like this- heard that before. Would never go back even if we had service the other night- the Bannock restaurant that claims to serve bannock just doesn't serve bannock.

I found the quality and flavour of food was not worth the price. Other than it is located in downtown, there is not much going for this place. I remember this place was a lot better when it first opened.

Amazing, had been telling my family about the roasted duck poutine pizza for years! We finally all made it out and of course tried the pizza along with many other dished; bannock bannock, mac & cheese , and the burger. Taro chips are unique and delicious. Q water is an awesome idea, very impressed with everything. 10/10.
