Bannock is cool, confident and unapologetically Canadian. Centrally located at the corner of Queen and Bay in the Hudson’s Bay flagship store, Bannock offers a warm and inviting space for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch.
Bannock's honest approach to food is rooted in familiar, wholesome ingredients that are reflective of Canada's rich regional and cultural diversity. Dynamic and playful dishes like the decadent Duck Poutine Pizza and the iconic Arcadian Court Chicken Pot Pie are rounded out by a variety of other classic comfort dishes. The cocktail list is fun and cheeky, while the approachable wine and beer list have a clear Canadian focus.

Great comfort food menu, terrific wait staff, prompt service. Try the house Montreal smoked meat, the fish and chips were delicious as well.
Drinks were ok but we could not stay and eat because the place was so unclean. Several flies surrounding us constantly, dirty floors and silverware and the washrooms had not been cleaned in days it seemed
The food was very good
The server was very apologetic, also the manager They lost our order for a while Then presented us with the wrong Bill But it did get straightened out
It did work out in the end
Great place for comfort food. Tasty and value for money. Nice casual dining
If you're looking for a burger with a bit of bite, try the brisket. Served up with peameal bacon and a slice of cheese, the brisket burger is a welcome change from every restaurant's go-to item.
Nice ambiance and good prices. Food is ok; Hit or miss depending on what you choose to eat.
When I mentioned to the server who was filling our water glasses that one of the number one rules in the food service industry is to never rest the jug on the glass. The response was not what I expected. He proceeded to tell me he was an EMS and knew what he was doing. I tried to explain that there was a great deal of risk when you touched the jug to a glass that a customer already drank out of especially given the current public health concerns. He dismissed my concern by turning away while I politically speaking with him.
I have decided the next time this happens I will promptly let management know and ask them to explain this concern to the server themselves.
The restaurant food was very good. Hopefully there customers don’t get so sick that they can’t come back.
Excellent, interesting food. Great value and a relaxed ambiance.
Service was amazing! Food came out quick, fast and delicious. Great lunch spot!
Two words: Food coma.
The food was very tasty; portions were overly generous! Our server, Ravi was very helpful and attentive without interrupting our conversation. We were on a schedule prior to an event and everything was prompt but not rushed.
Always a great place to stop for lunch. Watch out for the spicy Caesar!
Atmosphere was rustic, food was pub style.
Myself and five friends went to Bannock before attending a Mirvish show. We made a reservation about two weeks before. The server was very attentive and even as guests arrived sporadically and late, she was always there to ask them how they were and take their order. She was training someone as well and he was great. We very much enjoyed our time there and will be back!
Would definitely recommend Bannock...and will be back
A delightful spot to eat in downtown Toronto! Handy for the opera (we come from out of town) and a unique menu with many a Canadian delicacy! Everything from traditional Chicken Pot Pie to a lentil chili and more. Had to try the Bannock appetizer, which was just bannock and hummus -- too much for the two of us! Mains were great (steak and lentil chili) with half price wine on Wednesday to wash it down. Butter tart for desert was tasty, but not sure why it needed whipped cream on top. Looking forward to an excuse to get back there. Delightful servers every time we have been there.
Great place to grab a bite to eat before the theatre. They have a special theatre menu, as well.
Service was poor, our server was very slow, and he. Seemed didn’t know what he was doing. He almost forgot one of my friends order, I had to remind him while he was standing behind the bar. I’m not sure if he was new. The food was ok, the portion is very small for a Full Canadian Breakfast and very expensive. Is it because the owner is a well know Canadian Restauranteur? Not sure.
The second part was the guy serving the food, O asked for Tabasco and he repeated, you want hot sauce? Tabasco is a hot sauce isn’t it?
Maybe will look
For another place next time for brunch.
I enjoyed our visit. Service was quick and pleasant. Great ambiance and the food was delicious. Would recommend.
Good service and food. Would completely recommend to anyone
Superb service, great food
Honestly, for a restaurant that’s in the core of downtown, expectations are much higher. We had the montreal burger I think, and their mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was mediocre, but the burger was not good at all. Atmosphere was 8/10, but servers weren’t very attentive. Also circulation was pretty bad and the entire restaurant smelled like foods coming from the kitchen (I had to wash my sweater after because it smelled like onions).
Have enjoyed each visit. Friendly and prompt service from knowledgeable staff. Friendly greetings at door. Delicious food with vegetarian and some gluten free options.
Discovered during Winterlicious
Yummy food, nice ambiance, great service
10/10 would recommend
The food was decent but came out before our drinks arrived.
Good quality food and great ambiance.
The restaurant was empty but when I called to reserve a table for two I was told it was full due to Winterlicious. When I got there the restaurant was only at 20% capacity.
The food was OK seemed like canned food to me very little freshly made.
I was asked if this was a special occasion and it was. We were celebrating 2 birthdays so I was disappointed that the birthday ladies were charged for their dessert. Not certain how it would work for winterlicious but at least some acknowledgement? or a scoop of ice cream??
We enjoyed our winterlicious menu. Will definitely come back again. The portion sizes could be better.
The winterlicious lunch menu was fantastic!!!
Service was fine but food took forever to come and the food was terrible.
Bannock's Winterlicious was okay. The menu looked great online because of the interesting options and good variety, but nothing blew me away. I had the meatballs to start (liked them), the tandoori chicken pizza (could have been better - the yogurt dollops were large, and not that much chicken), and the brownie (looked bigger in pictures online and I expected it to be warm but it wasn't). Service was good, and everything was good overall but nothing special.
Service was mediocre. The chicken pot pie that I ordered tasted similar to frozen chicken pot pies I have purchased from the grocery store and reheated it in the oven. Food was not bad but nothing special. Poutine was very good. Sparkling water for $7 is also ridiculous.
I ordered from the Winterlicious menu. The arugula salad with pickled beets was good but my salmon was overcooked and the plating of the dish could have used a different platter.
The wait staff were courteous and efficient.
It’s always a pleasure to eat here! Today’s lunch was no exception.
Nice meal wth family in an interesting place & trying new dishes
I’ve written everything I wanted to say over on trip advisor, but I have to say I was just so let down by this place overall. Been waiting for years to go, and it was just... bland. Also — what’s the deal with a bannock box that doesn’t contain bannock?
Good home style food, decor is canadiana themed, service is outstanding.
Went for a business lunch. The service was prompt and always nearby. My companion had special requests which were all met.
Food-wise, I found my entry okay. I ordered the chicken pot pie and found it was VERY salty.
We went for Winterlicious. There were 3 in the party. We all enjoyed our meals. Good value and good food. Very casual and noisy. Service was very good.
