Impressed when we walked in the door and our table was set and ready for us. It was down hill from there. Service was especially slow concerning there were not many diners. My wife's meal though she ordered a small portion was more like an appetizer. I ordered the BoPo chicken (based on the server's recommendation) and it was very bland. Tried it, but once was enough.
Great for graduation meal
Loved everything but the tables were too small.
Why did I NOT receive points for reservation?
Food was good.
Yummy food but super slow service. Indo Mac is delicious!
Love this place! It's usually on my list for birthdays, dates, nights out with friends, etc. Service has always been good, and food is excellent. Curries are a good portion sizes and interesting combinations, and the noodle dishes are delicious and HUGE.
Best Duck I have ever had. Everything we had was delicious and prepared with care. We will definitely be back.
This was our first visit to Bandung and we thoroughly enjoyed the dinner. The ambiance is nothing special, but the service was excellent. Our waitress was very personable and knowledgable about the menu. I had the Pad Thai which was excellent. My wife had the Mahi mahi which she enjoyed; however, she thought it had a bit too much sauce on it. The meals and wine were very reasonably priced. Definitely will return
Always a great meal and great service. This restaurant never disappoints.
We came again just after 2 days and it was as good or even better. Highly recommended!
Great food. My expectations were limited, but the reality exceeded my expectations by a lot. The server suggested the dishes, which we really liked. I will definitely come again when visit Madison next time.
Always dependable. Excellent food. Very careful about allergies, etc. I'm allergic to fish, so being able to get Pad Thai and other Asian foods without worry is a real treat.
Love this place but service is very inconsistent.
Pretty good pad Thai. Noodle dishes are really good too. Also beef skewers.
We drove 12 hours from DC to eat here. Just fabulous food. Wish it was closer to my home...
My friends and I went to this restaurant on a Thursday for dinner, it was very quiet, we were the only table. The local beer selection was good, we tried many appetizers and enjoyed them all. Each person's entree was delicious, although the small portion was a bit small for one of the men in our group. The waitress was very helpful and attentive.
About 2 years ago, Bandung used to be one of our go-to restaurants in Madison - quick evening dinner, celebration dinners, friends get-to-together. We've noticed that the food quality (and portion size) has declined. The Pad Thai was all heat and so terribly bland that I actually had to ask for fish sauce to amp up the flavor. The Lele Kemangi was so-so but the portion was small. The Eggplant Curry (which used to be my favorite) was again, terribly bland. They must have changed cooks which is unfortunate. I will sadly not be coming back nor will I be recommending this restaurant to others. Terribly disappointed.
We enjoyed the fried rice very much. The staff was lovely, helpful, and friendly.
I went here with some family visiting out of town and everyone very much enjoyed their dish. Most of the menu is spicy dishes (indicated by a flame on the menu) and while the waitress said you could pick the spice level several of my companions commented that even low spice on a dish labelled spicy was a bit hot. I have a very low spice tolerance and ordered a dish not labelled spicy and it was great and not spicy at all. I would definitely go back and try more dishes.
Try the red curry squash - yummy!
The duck... So amazing. Great friendly service. All the food was wonderful but do yourself a favor and get the duck next time!
Food was tasty and staff very welcoming. A good spot for spicy Asian fare.
We had appetizers, wine, and dinner. The food was tasty. The portions were just right. Some options were spicy, others mild. We'll be back.
We eat at Bandung fairly often. The food is unique to Madison, as there are no other Indonesian restaurants here. Fortunately, Bandung in excellent.
Good food and service. We really enjoyed our dining experience here overall. I wouldn't call it the 'best pad thai in Madison,' as they do, but it was definitely very good. We also had some appetizers and drinks. Server was nice. Overall a great experience like I said, and we plan to go back.
Everything, from the drinks to appetizers, entrees and sides was great. There's a large selection from which to choose so there's something for everyone. My husband loved the sizzling shrimp & my lamb satay was excellent. Our waiter was friendly, helpful & available. We felt well taken care of & comfortably full.
Bandung offers menu items not found anywhere else in Madison. The flavors are outstanding, and the menu is extensive. Service is exceedingly friendly. Highly recommended.
My husband, an adult son and I had Pad Thai and Satay here. The food was excellent and offered an unusually good value
Delicious food, spicy but not too hot. The flavors are different from Indian, Thai, or Chinese, and are very pleasing. Service is friendly and helpful when the dishes are unfamiliar. The setting is fairly dark and cozy, and is quiet enough for comfortable conversation. We have eater here several times and always enjoyed it.
This was my second visit to Bandung, and I wish that I lived closer to frequent the place more often! The staff is very friendly and bends over backwards to be accommodating. The food is a delight for the taste buds and any questions about the menu are deftly answered. I have yet to make a selection that I haven't licked my plate clean on. My dining companion was also very impressed with her selections. The price is unbelievably reasonable for what you get. We shared a starter (a tapioca shrimp cracker plate--so generous we couldn't finish it!), ordered 2 entrees (hers featured shrimp and mine was a lamb/potato curry--no complaints from either of us!) , had 3 glasses of wine plus a Thai Iced tea (too yummy!) and the bill was under $55. Service was fast, efficient, and attentive. We never felt like we were lacking for anything . Kudos to the staff and chef(s) for such outstanding customer service and food.
Always likes this restaurant.
Good always good and nice portion.
Server are replaced too often so service is "ok" but nir "great"
Very happy to see an authentic Indonesian restaurant. Excellent spicy food. We tried the fried rice and lemon chicken dish and the fish appetizer.
The food was superb, the service excellent. I enjoyed the Pad Thai, the best I've ever had. The service was excellent. I appreciated being able to make a reservation on a very busy Saturday night (UW graduation). I'll definitely return to try other menu items.
Ive been coming here for years and I love it. The food is extremely tasty. They have a wide variety of items and many are vegan/vegetarian friendly. They have some good Indonesian beers and a decent wine list. I always get the keju (cream cheese wontons) as an appetizer- they are so good! They only come with four. I recommend one per person. Daging Redang is a really good dish, same with the Satay and the pad thai is amazing. The opor ayam is good too. You really cant go wrong with anything. If going on the weekend, definitely make a reservation.
We've been eating at this restaurant for years. The service has always been good and the food outstanding. We usually order extra dishes so we have some to take home.
Fantastic food and service! We will definitely be going back soon-best satay and pad Thai in town!
Staff was very pleasant. Food was great! Service was quick.
Absolutely loved our experience at Bandung! We decided to try it for lunch and boy, what a find! Indonesian food seems to be a fusion of Chinese and Thai. Lunch entrees include 1 of 3 appetizers, so we tried 2--the spring rolls and the cream cheese filled wontons. Both were excellent and came with a spicy (but not overly so) sauce. I ordered the sizzling shrimp (somewhat akin to the way in which fajitas are served) over vegetables and loved the bright flavors in the sauce. Hubby had Krakatau chicken over vegetables in a sweet and spicy garlic sauce. Both came with rice. We ordered the Nutella filled wontons for dessert, which came with a scoop of ice cream -- nothing was left on the plate :-) Our total bill (including 2, alcoholic drinks) was less than $40. Service was speedy, friendly, and efficient. Definitely going to find some excuse to go back in the near future!
Overall the restaurant was disappointing. We were seated at 630, ordered by 640 and didn't receive food until after 730. Our waitress brought our first round of drinks and didn't return until after the food came out. The food was rather bland which is very unexpected for food from the region.
