Food was sub par. Barely there service. Ambiance of restaurant is lively which was the only positive part of experience
The food was mediocre and not prepared as requested. I did not bring this to the attention of the server since the food would have been cold if reserved. I asked for no potatoes and double salad with no dressing. I received the potatoes, salad with dressing. The Steak Benedict was ok. The hollandaise was delivered on the side as requested but it was a curdled mess.
The staff was nice, nice table, comfortable seating. Great low noise level for catching up over brunch. My friend enjoyed her omelet (vegetable). The cocktails were potent and enjoyable. Too many options in nabe to make a return visit.
Great spot for a low key/not rowdy brunch in this part of town. We were a group of friends catching up for the first time in a while and we were definitely lingering, but at no point did our server try to rush us out. Ask to sit in one of the big round booths if one's available -- they're very comfy!
Really nice lunch with a friend. The food was good and so was the service.
Outside patio seating was fantastic. Great service, very attentive, good checking in and food came out promptly.
I have been to Banc on multiple occasions and loved it every time! I have been with a friend for drinks and had a great time and I have also been with my entire family and had a DELICIOUS meal! I will 100% be visiting this restaurant again in the future and I would recommend it to anyone!
Food was okay, xchicken and waffles and French toast better than California omelet. Waiter seemed too busy to pay attention, but the place is great.
Comfortable and friendly.
We had a wonderful time...great food great atmosphere and friendly efficient service. We'll definitely be back 😊
Was a little disappointed when we visited this most recent time. I noted in my reservation ( made and confirmed over 2 months in advance) that it was an anniversary dinner and I wanted to sit at the same 2-person table we met at for our first date. Sure enough we walked in and was told the earlier hostess did not look at the reservation notes and seated people at that table I requested. Once we got situated at another table ( that seated 4), the experience just wasn't great: Restaurant was extremely loud. Food was average. And we felt rushed- had a bottle of wine, 2 apps, dinner and paid the bill all within an hour-- which does not happen ever. I also expected them to maybe say or do something for us since I noted it was for an anniversary, and because they knew we requested a table and didn't get it-- just something to maybe show appreciation or to make up for their oversight. With regards to the being rushed in and out, the restaurant didn't even have a wait for tables as there there were available seats, so I'm not sure why it was so rushed for us to leave. We've always enjoyed Banc, especially since it is so close to our apartment, but this time it just wasn't that great and wasn't worth the price of the bill. We will likely be back at some point ( maybe), but my typical raving review for Banc to family and friends will not be the same.
Food was great, service as well. Nice ambiance. A bit noisy but it is a popular place. It was my husband’s birthday and they were very accommodating! Like this restaurant very much.
Food was amazing, especially Chinese dumplings! Excellent atmosphere also
Excellent experience. Friendly staff. Fun atmosphere.
The service was not great at all. The food didn’t taste good. The nova (salmon Benedict) tasted sweet which was absolutely bizarre to me.
Good food excellent service great place for early brunch. Gets crowded around noon.
Super Bowl Sunday. Issac was our waiter-outstanding service! Always a pleasure meeting at Banc...
Was there for lunch on a Friday afternoon so it wasn't crowded at all. The waitstaff were pleasant and friendly. The food was very good and just the right portion size.
Great place, good brunch. One issue: toast and English muffin came without butter. When butter was finally served, butter was hard and toast cold. However, server took everything back and reheated.
Banc is a perfect place for dinner with friends or family. It has a great vibe and the food is never disappointing.
Very nice relaxed brunch on New Year’s Day. Delicious scrambled egg & goat cheese wrap.
It has become my go-to brunch place. Everything is always wonderful!!!
We had four adults and four kids. Menu accommodated all of us for a good price point. Sunday night special is half off bottles of wine. Not bad. Food was good and healthy and interesting. Would recommend to anyone
Lovely afternoon with friends for our annual holiday lunch. Barmaid was attentive and friendly, very nice to us old folks!
I really enjoy Banc Cafe-I came here last summer with some girlfriends for brunch and I immediately recommended it to revisit when my cousin was in town. Awesome food, extensive brunch menu-has both breakfast and lunch options, excellent cocktails, and fun atmosphere. It is loud but not too loud-not your typical "boozy brunch" with drunk young people but still a solid vibe. It is a good spot for small groups (probably 6 max).
Really nice meal! The servers were friendly and helpful. I liked how they reassured us that what we chose to eat were good choices. The price was completely reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. I’ll be back soon! Thank you.
Great place for a weekend brunch
Always great been going there since it reopened years ago. Never a bad meal and great ambiance
Always excellent food and energetic ambiance. Enjoyed halepeno margaritas and Pinot noir. The veggie burger was fabulous not bland, empanadas. My roasted chicken was wonderful followed by cappuccino and sorbet.
Very kind and helpful server. Good ambiance - I recommend the angel hair pasta with the vodka sauce.
Always accommodating, comfortable and fun. Great food and atmosphere.
This is more of a bar with some tables for dining. It was extremely noisy in the main room (where the bar is). The staff was very accomodating and found us a table in a back room which was a bit quieter. Still loud, but we could talk. All four of us thought the food was good, not great. Looked like a fun place to hang out in a bar if you are looking for that.
Came here looking for a relatively affordable meal with a friend but wish I had gone somewhere else and spent a bit more. Our starters were almost inedible and our mains were just okay. Service was also middling. It’s a nice space and should be able to do better.
My friend and I came here for a weekday dinner. The place was packed and therefore very noisy.
2 of us shared 4 appetizer plates and the salad, plus a pitcher of red sangria and they were quite filling. While the food was tasty and the portion was fine, the overall service was somewhat indifferent at the best.
Ordered from the small plates offerings. Selected the octopus--the texture was very soft. Almost tasted as if I were eating something other than octopus.
The clams were a hearty serving with the white wine sauce packing a bit of a punch. Definitely worth ordering if you like clams.
Dining partner had the coconut shrimp and said the shrimp were good. They looked a bit too brown but did not taste.
Noise level was quite high.
Service was good and attentive enough without seeming intrusive.
Banc is a go to spot for us. Food is always good although they recently changed menu and have taken off some of our favorites like the pistachio crusted chicken, Shepard’s pie and Thai beef satays. The new pasta dish is not that great. Service is usually excellent but there are a lot of new staff members. We had a new waiter who was really slow. Our drink order was wrong and we had to flag down another waiter to get it fixed. Our waiter only checked in once right after food was delivered, he never came back to see if we wanted another drink. We usually order a second and third round. We also had to ask the bus boy for our check and then after a long wait we had to flag down the manager for the check. Never saw our waiter after the food was delivered/initial check in. Very disappointed in the service this is not our usual experience!
Banc Cafe is a lively bar and restaurant, crowded for a reason: excellent location, very good food, served quickly by an very well-trained waitstaff. Especially impressive was the quality of the meal (appetizers, salads, main course, dessert) and the speed of service given how busy the restaurant was when we arrived. While not a place for a quiet conversation (the back room is quieter than the bar area), you will be assured of good food and drink, reasonably priced and friendly, professional service. Nice outdoor seating area, as well.
Unassuming but fun east side/Murray Hill place with a lively and varied menu. Decent beer offerings from a self-professed beer nerd. Good appetizers and was easy to get in and out before our night time plans.
Average spot with decent brunch food and service. Prices are gentle. Not too noisy so you can talk without shouting.
The food was really not great. Had heard mixed reviews but it was conveniently located to where I was so I figured I would try it. Buttermilk biscuit was extremely dry, the California omlete tasted like airplane food, and the eggs benedict were average at best. Price wise it was pretty reasonable but I have no real desire to go back for brunch.
Croquettes are good
The salmon wrap lacked flavor
The place seemed understaffed
Perfect spot for a quiet business meal in the neighborhood. Great service, solid menu. Cobb Salad was a winner.
