Wonderful, my favorite place.go there almost weekly! Staff fabulous ...managers friendly and warm.
Food consistantly good and prepared artistically..Best of all price is very fair
I highly recommend the Banc!!
What a wonderful find after moving to Murray Hill a few months ago! Very comfortable atmosphere and easy to talk (not crazy loud). The brunch crowd isn't getting wild drunk (at least when we were there Sunday!), the goat cheese appetizer was delicious, as were the biscuits and gravy (although note this isn't a traditional dish - not much gravy, and topped with eggs). I'm currently in a mobile scooter so accessibility is a major factor in choosing restaurants, and there were two flat/ramped entrances, and a row of tables that had ample space between them.
A very pleasant experience. Went for brunch. The food and service were excellent.
If I could give 10 stars, I would. I made an odd request with the reservation to have a specific Seinfield star’s picture taped to the menu and low and behold, after we devoured dinner, there he was on the desert menu.
Also recommend the chocolate gluten free desert!
Tries to have hipster entrees like avocado toast but doesn’t offer healthier bread or almond milk. Food was OK. Wouldn’t go back.
Love the live band and late happy hour!
Love the ambiance, the staff is very friendly and food is amazing . Will be back ❤️
We went for a birthday celebration - probably not the right venue. perfect for an after-work informal get-together.
Management was a bit rude and dismissive. Food was good, very average, you can get better brunch in NYC close by to this location. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a pleasant experience here.
Love,y meal, good service, not rushed
Been here many, many times for a reason. A neighborhood place that doesn’t disappoint.
Wonderful outside eating area in case you have a pup with you. Food is delicious.
The restaurant was cute. My salad was fine. My daughters hamburger had raw meat (paste consistency) - the waiter was nowhere to be found at any particular time so I finally got up and walked into the kitchen with it after 10 minutes of waiting for him (and we didn’t see anyone to help us before we reached the kitchen door- weird to have had to be that). Anyway, I was done before she got back the burger. It was perfect but there was no apology and the whole ordeal held us up 45 minutes. No offer to adjust the bill for the inconvenience either. We had to make a plane so we paid it and didn’t question it. It would have been nice of them to have apologized or even offered a dessert for the issue.
Over cooked chicken, quesadilla seemed to be fried and oily. Would not return.
The food and service at Banc was outstanding. Unique decor and beautifully furnished. We were a large group (6) and the space there is intimate - luckily we went early in the evening so we had plenty of room. When I come back it will certainly be with a smaller group. Looking forward to coming back for more!
I had a very disappointing experience at Banc Cafe. We recently moved to Kips Bay, so opted for Banc Cafe over several of the New York City classics due to proximity.
-good atmosphere, nice outdoor seating
-good drinks (Banc wheat beer) & Marg (although very small)
Our plan was to order the 4-item appetizer tray ($40) and get some mains. We order the tuna/avocado tartare, chicken fingers, dumplings and brussel sprouts to start.
-Tuna/avocado: the best of the 4, although half the portion of the regular from the menu (4 bites)
-Chicken fingers: 2 very dry pieces of chicken = to fast food
-Dumplings: 3 very small dumplings, very likely that they were frozen
-Brussel sprouts: good, but half the size of normal and sprouts were untrimmed
We decided not to order mains after the very disappointing starters. For someone who knows the food scene in NYC and planned this meal weeks in advance, I was angry at myself and Banc Cafe for the very poor birthday meal.
Very nice place!
Hadn't been to Banc Cafe since the late 1990s and was very surprised to see it still around almost 22 years later! Stick with the small plates items and avoid the no-alcohol Banc Ale.
Had an amazing brunch celebrating my sisters birthday.
Love Banc! Great food, service and atmosphere! Will definitely be back.
Food was OK. Server was awful. Didn't smile and acted as if we were bothering him whenever we interacted with him.
I would recommend it to a friend as a place for drinks and appetizers, but when going for actual dinner, I was shocked at how tasteless a lot of the food was. The ambiance is so nice at this place, especially in good weather when you can sit outside or inside with all the windows open, but the food was quite blnd and disappointing.
Enjoyed the atmosphere and service was great. Try the cheese cake it was excellent.
Always a great experience! Friendly service, great food, and fun atmosphere. Great spot for couples or friends.
Quick casual dinner. Food was good but our waiter wasn’t very attentive. Definitely would go back though so it didn’t ruin our experience
I took my good friend here for her birthday brunch. We both ordered the nova eggs Benedict which was delicious. The salad that came with it was fresh and tasty. The coffee was good, too. We stayed and talked for a long while and never felt rushed. Service was attentive. I’d definitely go back for brunch at another time.
This has been a neighborhood favorite for me. However yesterday’s lunch was pathetic. I ordered
Food was sub par. Barely there service. Ambiance of restaurant is lively which was the only positive part of experience
The food was mediocre and not prepared as requested. I did not bring this to the attention of the server since the food would have been cold if reserved. I asked for no potatoes and double salad with no dressing. I received the potatoes, salad with dressing. The Steak Benedict was ok. The hollandaise was delivered on the side as requested but it was a curdled mess.
The staff was nice, nice table, comfortable seating. Great low noise level for catching up over brunch. My friend enjoyed her omelet (vegetable). The cocktails were potent and enjoyable. Too many options in nabe to make a return visit.
Great spot for a low key/not rowdy brunch in this part of town. We were a group of friends catching up for the first time in a while and we were definitely lingering, but at no point did our server try to rush us out. Ask to sit in one of the big round booths if one's available -- they're very comfy!
Really nice lunch with a friend. The food was good and so was the service.
Outside patio seating was fantastic. Great service, very attentive, good checking in and food came out promptly.
I have been to Banc on multiple occasions and loved it every time! I have been with a friend for drinks and had a great time and I have also been with my entire family and had a DELICIOUS meal! I will 100% be visiting this restaurant again in the future and I would recommend it to anyone!
Food was okay, xchicken and waffles and French toast better than California omelet. Waiter seemed too busy to pay attention, but the place is great.
Comfortable and friendly.
We had a wonderful time...great food great atmosphere and friendly efficient service. We'll definitely be back 😊
Was a little disappointed when we visited this most recent time. I noted in my reservation ( made and confirmed over 2 months in advance) that it was an anniversary dinner and I wanted to sit at the same 2-person table we met at for our first date. Sure enough we walked in and was told the earlier hostess did not look at the reservation notes and seated people at that table I requested. Once we got situated at another table ( that seated 4), the experience just wasn't great: Restaurant was extremely loud. Food was average. And we felt rushed- had a bottle of wine, 2 apps, dinner and paid the bill all within an hour-- which does not happen ever. I also expected them to maybe say or do something for us since I noted it was for an anniversary, and because they knew we requested a table and didn't get it-- just something to maybe show appreciation or to make up for their oversight. With regards to the being rushed in and out, the restaurant didn't even have a wait for tables as there there were available seats, so I'm not sure why it was so rushed for us to leave. We've always enjoyed Banc, especially since it is so close to our apartment, but this time it just wasn't that great and wasn't worth the price of the bill. We will likely be back at some point ( maybe), but my typical raving review for Banc to family and friends will not be the same.
Food was great, service as well. Nice ambiance. A bit noisy but it is a popular place. It was my husband’s birthday and they were very accommodating! Like this restaurant very much.
Food was amazing, especially Chinese dumplings! Excellent atmosphere also
Excellent experience. Friendly staff. Fun atmosphere.
The service was not great at all. The food didn’t taste good. The nova (salmon Benedict) tasted sweet which was absolutely bizarre to me.
