Banana Leaf Modern Thai
Excellent food and service but a bit pricey
We got there at 7:35 for a 7:45 reso, got seated around 8:30 and got food at 9:05pm and didn't get cashed out til 10. Food was good but nothing spectacular, especially for the price, and we never saw or heard from a manager. Just apologies from the hostess and waiters. Our whole room of tables had the same issues and were pretty upset. It's pretty though, right?
It took almost 3 hours to finish our meal. It took 45 minutes to put in our appetizer. It took an hour to receive it, it took another hour to recieve our meal. Before the meal came out (over an hour and half after we ordered) they told us they were all out of a meat that we requested. The meal was good but the time it took to bring out 2 very simple dishes was absurd.
Our reservation was for 6:30 PM. Was seated right away. Appetizer came out quickly but entrees did not come out until almost 8 PM. Food was great but wait was long.
We went here to celebrate our Valentine’s Day. I wish I would have gone somewhere different. We were seated in a small room right next to people where you had zero privacy. We ordered spring rolls for an appetizer and it took at least 20 minutes to receive them. They were very underwhelming. Almost all cabbage and barely any protein. Next we both ordered the Tom Ka soups. The chicken in the soup was so overdone and rubbery tasting. It also took a good 20 minutes before our soup came out. The entrees took over an hour to receive and I will say they both tasted very good but unfortunately at that point we had been there for 2 hours and were just overall not pleased. Our server didn’t offer to box our food just sat a box down and walked away. I would think for $36 an entree they would at least offer?! Unfortunately after this experience we will not be back to banana leaf. For that price I would expect a much better experience
The food here is always outstanding. We continue to return for this reason. Our waitress on this visit was very polite, but had trouble multitasking. She walked past empty wine glasses three times before asking if we wanted more.
Enjoying dinner with my Wife for a belated V-Day celebration. Service was slower than usual tonight, but the food was outstanding as always.
Food was very favorable! Price is kinda pricey.
We had never ate here before and we were excited to give it a try! It was Valentines night and when I ordered the appetizer, I did not want to order our meals as we wanted a slow pace. The server Dana said to order the meals with the appetizer so our meal order wouldn't go to the "back of the line" implying we might have a wait. She was a bit bossy about this. We went ahead and ordered our meals as she strongly suggested. The beer I ordered did not come in frosted or even very cold glasses. The second floor room we were in was so quiet, you couldn't talk much without feeling like everyone was listening. Our pot sticker appetizer was delicious!!! The primary meals (Shrimp Pad Thai-Egg Noodle Covering) was fantastic!!! Best Thai food I had ever ate... On our plate at two corners were some spices (we believed to be but not sure). Dana should have been there right after the meals were delivered to explain the spices/chopped peanuts on the plate or the person delivering the food should have explained highlighting the chef's work. We will definitely go back for the food but they need some improvements on presentation and server professionalism. Dana probably wanted to have her tables turn over quicker for more tips...I get that but being that it wasn't cheap to eat there, more love equals more tip money! When we went to leave, the lobby only had a few people waiting.
Food was excellent. Our waitress was not - as we waited to be seated she came downstairs talking to someone upstairs in an angry tone and barked a drink order to someone at the bar. I saw this and hoped she wasn't our waitress but she was. The staff move quick in this restaurant but not our waitress - it took 10 minutes to get a glass of water, 20 minutes to get silver-ware, and almost 40 minutes to get an appetizer. I started asking other staff for assistance because our waitress was rarely around for us to ask.
We may consider take-out from Banana Leaf in the future - just not sure I want to risk getting this waitress again. As a comparison, there were other couples and a family seated for dinner just before us. One of the couples was leaving (they had a different waitress) right after we received our appetizer because they had finished dinner. Before our main course came another couple had completed their meal and were leaving (they had a different waitress)
Food was fantastic and service was exceptional.
The best Thai food in town!
Fabulous ambiance and food quality! Pam the owner is inventive and balanced so that a reliable food product is delivered. Love it!!
The food was very good - we had their sampler appetizer platter (egg rolls, spring rolls and chicken satay), along with pad thai and drunken noodles. Their spice scale of 1-5 is accurate in that my 4 was very spicy vs other places where it barely registers. Service could have been more attentive - we sat without being asked if we wanted more drinks for at least 15 minutes. All in all, a good experience and good food. We'll return.
Unique ambiance, intimate setting. Food is flavorful, although a bit sweet and can seem heavy to some. There is a good variety of Thai dishes. Staff friendly and attentive.
Service was excellent and food tasted great!
The Chef Pom and his family run this amazing place. It’s always a treat. The food is outstanding and the service matches. Thanks for another wonderful evening.
We love Banana Leaf. It is the best Thai food we have ever had
Food was good, service was mediocre.....likely wont return anytime soon
Food priced too high.
We went to celebrate a birthday. First time there for 10 out of 11 of us and we were very impressed! Great dinner and atmosphere!
The food is pretty good. They would take extra precautions for my son, who is allergic to tree nuts, so we have preferred to come here. Unfortunately, they have a tendency to understaff their servers. Since the restaurant is on two levels, they have to run up and down the stairs all the time.
Regrettably, I must give a very low rating. The ambiance was nice, but the food was so salty that it was virtually inedible. I returned my first dish after two bites, and it it was replaced with something almost as salty. I do eat gluten free, and have enjoyed wonderful gluten free dishes at other Thai restaurants. And the price was shockingly expensive for tea, a scoop of rice, and two scoops of entree.
Holiday lunch with the work team and everything was perfect. Had several first-timers in the group and they really enjoyed it.
Banana Leaf is my favorite restaurant in Mason. They never disappoint and the service is always wonderful. The menu is small, but that means they are awesome at everything they make, my go to is the Panang Curry with Shrimp or Duck.
Great. My spouse truly enjoyed the food!
Rather expensive. Everything was fine but the lasting impression was the experience was not commensurate with the money spent.
Food was fantastic! Service was great and the place is beautiful with cozy rooms beautifully decorated. Highly recommend!!
This is one of our favorite restaurants-the food is always outstanding, and the staff is so knowledgeable and courteous. My only complaint was the close proximity of the seating. For intimate dining I don’t enjoy having my back against someone else, nor do I like hearing everyone’s conversations. My husband was actually sitting partially in the doorway.
Best Thai in the Cincinnati area -- highly recommend.
This was our first visit to Banana Leaf. The waiting area was welcoming. The size of the restaurant was a surprise, but did not detract from our experience. The table for 2 are put in smaller spaces making the overall feel of the dining room cozy. The food was good as were the recommendations by the waitress. We will definitely go back.
Service was a little slow for a Wednesday night without many diners. Our waitress was very sweet and friendly though! The food is always amazing! The snapper was cooked so perfectly ....such a great dish! Thanks for a wonderful night Banana Leaf!
Best Thai food in the city.
It was fine but nothing great for the price. Likely will not return.
Very happy to see the butternut fried rice special again. We both had it, and it was excellent.
Fantastic thai restaurant, would go more often if it were more affordable.
This is one of our favorite places. Food and service are always great!
Food was excellent and outdoor patio was very nice. Will come again.
The food was delicious and the ambiance helped to make it a magical evening!
