We went for Mother's Day brunch. They had an excellent variety of foods. Everything was hot and fresh. Beautiful displays and food presentation. Good ambiance!
This is inside a hotel that was once the Fairmont, but is now Duke. We needed a last-minute reservation for 5 people for a breakfast, and to that end, we were satisfied. However, the seats, table, and carpet are all indicative of a heavy, outdated, hotel-conference decor, and the lighting lends a cheapened ambience to the meal. However, the breakfast/brunch menu was surprisingly good. The Honeybee biscuit stack with a granola parfait on the side was presented well and each element deliciously made. The hashbrowns are crispy brown on top and tasty in the middle. The orange juice tasted freshly squeezed and everyone liked their order.
I took my dad here for brunch at 11am on Sunday. We shared the avocado Frittata with the basil hollandaise sauce on the side and the eggs Benedict. Both were wonderful. My favorite was the eggs Benedict. I brought my service dog with me and they got us a table quickly.
Their soups are great, I really loved it
Main dishes, big but not that tasty
Slow service, slow hostess who doubles as the busboy. The most dismal breakfast buffet I've ever been to. Definitely not worth $80, even with bottomless mimosas. The food was not refreshed, and if one got replenished, another food item went missing. For a high class hotel, this was just sub par food that you could get at Costco.
A breakfast at Dennys is probably better, and cheaper. Skip the buffet and order off the menu, which is a bit pricey as well. The only saving grace is you get 4 hours of free valet with validation.
Great, festive Christmas Brunch! We thoroughly enjoyed it especially the chocolate fountains and desert table .
I had a delicious sandwich and it was presented beautiful. But the focus on presentation made it a little challenging to eat because the avocado and tomato slices kept falling out of the sides. As this was a business lunch, it made it difficult to eat the sandwich and maintain a professional conversation. However, the sandwich was so tasty I kept eating it anyway.
the best service and great value. free valet parking is huge plus too. it's elegant and fun for large girl groups who enjoy mimosas.
Was charged for 4 separate mimosas when we ordered 2 bottomless mimosas.
Sounded like a great restaurant on open table, but this is typical hotel fare in what looks like a repurposed hotel ballroom. Food was pedestrian and waiters were hard to flag down (ours "went on break" during our meal, said another waiter would take over, and then came back a half hour later). Not terrible, but nothing to write home about.
Good food. Valet parking only.
French onion soup was perfectly French, not too salty/greasy. Lobster risotto was cooked to perfection, and just $18 lunch
Chef Brian excellent
Fish entree beautifully prepared. Excellent quality
Authentically local rooftop honey from their own rooftop bee hives.
Cracker presentation so nice. Excellent for business lunch!
Excellent breakfast items egg white frittata, crab Bisquit. Beautiful presentation.
Mango shrimp salad really great.
Chopped salad also great.
Burgers are the best and so creative. Beautifully served.
Chef is fantastic!! Real quality in everything we order always
Citrus was a greAt surprise. The food was really wonderful. I had the prawn appetizer and then the Asian chicken salad. Everything was beautifully presented and delicious. The restaurant is very pleasant and quiet, so it was easy to talk. I will definitely be back.
A bread board to savor! Served with citrus butter. Thank you to Citrus and Travelzoo for the deal. My dear friend and I enjoyed a 3-course weekday brunch -- Her, the lobster risotto (which she loved;-) and me, the seared scallops, as my entree! The espresso parfait was def unique. Our salads were bountifully portioned. The service was well-intentioned. They kept the bread board replenished!😋 We shall return!
Our reservation was on a Sunday, at noon. The restaurant was finishing breakfast, and we were escorted to AVO bar next door. With the three TV playing golf and basketball, and two other tables occupied, it felt quiet, and i was able to catch up with my friend. Gazpazio was ok, cous cous salad was great. Hamburger was also very good. Service was very nice. I would visit again with friends.
Because it is a hotel restaurant that doesn't have weekly brunches, they really blow the buffet out of the water on holidays. I think my family has found its new spot for special occasions.
The GM was wandering around at all times making sure everything was enjoyable, but he was far from disruptive. The waiter was attentive and the staff working the carving station were all smiles and very helpful. The ambiance is nothing special and the room feels huge because the ceilings are so high…but it made it easier to focus on the group of people I was dining with. Definitely no complaints.
Great breakfast spot !
Excellent food excellent chef! Creative!!
Great seafood options and variety of fresh salad entrees.
Excellent salad entree variety , fresh fish options, fun drink menu and he burger specials are very good
Excellent salad entrees, so creative, new Kale salad great, fun cracker presentation
Sorely disappointed. Came here for the Restaurant Week lunch for my birthday, and there was only one option, which was puzzling. Ordered an Ahi Tuna Salad that looked ridiculously small for a 20$ price tag, and requested another item. The waiter then said that he would give my salad to SOMEONE ELSE. So unless you want to eat at a restaurant where they serve you rejected food items from someone else's table, do not go here. The logic behind their actions is ridiculous.
Came here with two of my superiors and one business associate (whom I had never met before) for a business lunch: it would have to be a rather quick lunch and we would have to be able to discuss work but it would also have to be laid back enough for us to actually enjoy the food and catch up on everything.
The service was punctual and pleasant without invading our discussion; the ambiance was pleasant and professional; the food was excellent (word of warning to other pescetarians out there; the clam chowder has bacon in it); and while we may have been the loudest ones at the restaurant, the noise level was just enough to be pleasant while not so loud as to not be able to do work.
It was just the right place for the meeting. I have only one word of warning; if you are going for a larger meal that will fill you up and a slightly more affordable rate, this is not the restaurant for you. But if you want to have a light lunch to impress some long-distance coworkers with, check it out!
Wonderful meal at Bambu, perfect for any celebration. Use a lot of local ingredients and the service/ plating/ food was superb! Will definitely return.
Service and setting were great - no issues there. The food, however, was subpar at best. Plating on some of the dishes made absolutely no sense and the menu appeared to be left over from the fall with much of it centered around autumn root vegetables. The bread served before the meal was hard and seemed to have been sitting out for a while. The short ribs with the filet were chewy and overcooked and the filet itself was closer to mid-well rather than the mid-rare that was ordered. And those are just a few issues of many. Do yourself a favor and save your money - it's about $80-$100 per person with cup of soup, entree, one glass of house wine and gratuity. There are so many great restaurants in the area that one would be much better served dining elsewhere.
Very good menu. Their Wagyu Burger is a dream - with Avocado, Cheese, Smoked Bacon strips! Very good portion size, too. Home made sorbets & ice creams are very refined and will make your taste buds leap for joy. Price-Quality is outstanding. The restaurant will validate valet parking for up to 4 hours.
We went for the Newport Beach Restaurant week and enjoyed their selection of salads.
I really enjoyed the New Year's Even prixe fix menu. I had the scallops with a bacon relish that was delicious. I also really loved the mushroom tart I had as an appetizer. The duck soup was just okay, mostly broth. I was not a fan of the dessert, which was a souffle with almost a custard-type center. I would have preferred a chocolate option.
Unfortunately, the servers seemed out of sorts for most of the night. We chose to do wine pairings with our meal but we kept having to remind our server to bring us a new glass of wine. Consequently, we never really "paired" the right wine with the right course. This took away from the experience.
It also took about 15 minutes after we were seated for anybody to even greet us. And we were not given any water until we asked two courses in. The food runner didn't seem to speak English because every time we asked him a question he would just walk away without answering.
Overall, I would probably come back because the food was really superb. But I'd prefer more dessert options and would hope for better service next time.
Great food and the staff treated us very well. I did feel tables were to close together though. I really don't want to her other peoples conversation.
Typical hotel dining room. Nothing wrong with the food or service, just nothing exciting or any special reason to visit. A wedding reception in the next room provided too much noisy music. Waiter was very good but had to multi-task, being both the greeter and maitre d', as well as waiter for the entire room. Guests had to wait awhile at the podium when he was not in the room.
Great ambience, pre-fixed dinner needs a steak selection
Terrible service, waitress never came back. Took 30 min to get bread (as hard as rocks, and completely in edible) then took another 30-45 to get the check (which we asked for 3 times). Will never go back, will never recommend to anyone. Horrible
Found this resturant during Newport Beach's resturant week celebration. It is in a hotel, however, the atmosphere is bright and clean. The wait staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was very good, especially the dipping sauce that comes with the bread sticks and cheese crackers. I would recommend this resturant, and we are planning on returning. Very nice place for lunch.
Visited Bambu during restaurant week for a greater value.
Had an amazing time, great atmosphere in the classy Fairmont Hotel.
When we booked it appeared the restaurant had a sophisticated feel. We found an open space, extremely noisy and reminded me of a moderate hotel chain. The condiments reminded me of Courtyard hotels. We felt we were in a cheap hotel. After seeing what others ordered, we decided it was not reflective of the website. We found availability at a local favorite and left. We mentioned this to the valet, they seem experienced this before and did not charge us even though we did not validate. I would never eat at this restaurant. Most local restaurants were sold out New Year's Eve, approximately 70% of the dining room was open. This was reflective of the food and ambience. I have never been more disappointed in a restaurant in my life.
