Bambino's Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
I had not dined at Bambino's for a couple of years, even though I live in the neighborhood. I was pleasantly surprised when I met my son and his friend there for dinner: the menu had many more options than before, the wine list was extensive, the restaurant was full, and the food was tasty! The house Cab was great. I am returning this week with out-of-town guests!
Great food, great ambiance (it really felt like a restaurant in Italy) you cannot go wrong eating here. Cute neighborhood too. We live up in Diamond Heights so drove down. The only downside is that parking is a bit dicey, but worth driving around the block once or twice. We'll go back time and again.
In a City long in so-called "Kid Family" restaurants - Bambino's is a breath of fresh air. Not only is this a place you can take your kids to without worrying about disapproving eyes from fellow patrons and cold receptions from the serving staff, it's a place that openly welcomes families and goes out of their way to make your experience as stress-free as possible. As a working parent with two small children, I cannot express how much I appreciate Bambino's.
Additionally, their food is always fresh, delicious and served in a timely manner - especially important when you DO have children in tow.
Thanks Bambino's - keep up the good work!
We've been coming to Bambino's for quite awhile. Came here NYE and we were expecting a "so-so" dinner, since our experience for NYE in the past has been less than favorable, and the host said they would be very busy because of the holiday. Boy, were we wrong! Service was excellent, food was fresh from the salads to the cannoli, and delicious! Don't understand the host's comment, but we've been to Bambino's when it was busier. We always have a nice experience here. Bambinos never disappoints.
We came in for brunch on a very cold Sunday morning. Lines an hour long were forming next door for Zazie. While the hostess/waitress was excellent at her job, the dishes were ultimately disappointing. The corn flakes encrusted french toast tasted of old oil and I missed the gooey, custardy interior that is a characteristic of great french toast. The Benedicts were too hard for the yolks to ooze over the rest of the dish as they are meant to. We found the prices a bit high for food that was not particularly imaginative and not perfectly made.
Bambino's is great! You feel right at home when you walk in. The staff is warm, friendly, and attentive; and the food has that delicious homecooked feel. Whether you are looking for a little comfort Italian food or you want a more personal group meal outing , Bambino's is the place for you!
this is our go-to Italian restaurant. We are delighted that they now have the goat milk cheese cake on the regular dessert menu. We do not eat regular cheesecake, but this one is in a class of its' own.
We also thank the chef for making my partner's favorite chicken cacciatore, even though it wasn't on the menu. We were there when they opened for dinner and happily honored his request.
Cannot say enough good things about Bambino's: excellent in every way. all the staff make you feel right at home.
I am new to the Cole Valle/Haight Ashbury neighborhood and wanted to take my parents to a restaurant for brunch where we could make a reservation. I was so happy to find Bambino's on Open Table. Interestingly, Bambinos did not come up on a google search for "Cole Valley restaurants." We walked past the long line at Zazie and into the welcoming, calm atmosphere of Bambino's. Complimentary olives, olive oil and bread got us started. We then had focaccia breakfast "sandwiches" which were large and delicious with fresh fruit arranged around the plate. Generous portions, tasty food and very reasonable prices. We could not have been more pleased, and we will be back!
First, the food and wine were excellent. We tried two appetizers - the mini meatballs were superb and the bruschetta was delicious and had a unique flavor that we really enjoyed. We ordered canolli and lasagna for main courses - the sauces were excellent and the portions were big...we brought left overs home for the next day.
The service was superb - we had heard this place was kid-friendly and we were not disappointed. We really appreciated all the attention the staff gave us, and they went way above and beyond to help entertain our squirmy 18 month old. We were celebrating my husband's birthday, and they really made it a memorable evening for us!
We can't stop commenting about what a nice dining experience we had here, and how we can't wait to go back. We've been recommending Bambinos to all of our friends!
I love this restaurant. I visit close by several times a year and love being able to walk to Cole Valley. My man complaint is the noise level. Most of the time I have eaten there the restaurant was full. Great for Bambino's, awful for conversation. Tables too close together. My friend and I couldn't hear each other. Love everything else. Good choice and great for takeout pizza!!arlene
Parent in-laws in town so I book Bambino's for brunch. Waiting two hours for Zazie with family in tow is not (goes without saying) a tenable option.
I really enjoyed my bloody mary. There is also an Any Kind of Mimosa/Bellini Type Thing offering which delighted my wife. She loved her bellini. Strongly approve. Bambino's does a great job at offering my kind of brunch menu. My measure is a sweet breakfast offering so compelling that I almost don't get a savory breakfast. Check.
I went with the Biscuits and Gravy Stack. Disappointing. I love house made sausage and house made biscuits. If you do not season those 2 things properly when cooking them there is nothing a diner can do. I like making sausage and you have to season it properly during construction or game over. Bland city. Salt is not the enemy - a small amount while cooking does wonders that pouring it on after the fact cannot fix. OK, soap box. Apologies.
Service was very good.
I liked Bambino's enough to go back, though likely for an indulgent pasta dinner rather than brunch.
Our server, Samuel, was very nice and funny. I really enjoyed the appetizers. We got the Polpette: mini meatballs, polenta & Marinara. The flavor was excellent! The tomato bisque soup was also very tasty.
Our entrees disappointed a bit. My husband got the Marsala, nice size portion and looked delicious. But he said it had a strong lemon flavor that wasn't pleasant. Almost as if someone thought it was supposed to be picatta. That was a bummer. I got the chicken cannellone. The flavors were really good, it was just pretty rich for me. I only ate half. But hey, something for later.
The dessert was delicious! We shared the pomegranate chocolate chip gelato. They make it in house, please try it! :)
Over all I would go again. Just trying different entrees. But I'd get the same apps and dessert!
the special NY organic strip steak was excellent! We also tried the side of pasta with olive oil and it was surprisingly good that way.
the organic chicken was a a touch dry, but that does happen sometimes. The marsala sauce compensated nicely.
I hate giving this restaurant the wonderful review it deserves for fear they will not
have availability when I return to San Francisco. We have eaten there since my
daughter moved to San Francisco to go to USF three years ago. We have two more trips
until she graduates. We will be going back to Bambino's both times. The food is consistently
wonderful and the service is delightful. One of the best Margarita Pizza's ever and all the Pasta
dishes done to perfection. They also have a very good wine list.
The wait staff is professional and efficient and will take the time to recommend a wine or food selection. I have been there many times, the food is consistently delicious starting with the most wonderful bread and olive oil to the nicely prepared salads. I have ordered every thing from the chicken picatta to the linguine with white wine clam sauce and I have never been disappointed. The only dessert I have ever had there was the tiramisu. It is so delicious and light that sharing one is a tricky proposition! I would recommend this place for any occasion although every time I have been there I have seen families with kids enjoying the pizza. Once you go here you are sure to return.
I've never understood the popularity of Bambino's. I must be missing something because it has been around forever. I hadn't been in 30 years when I lived in the neighborhood and housemates always wanted to go there. 30 years later, married with kids, we decided to try it again because the kids might like it. It is the same as it was so long ago. A friendly neighborhood spot (which must account for the allure) but the food just isn't that good. Only one of the four of us finished our entrees - unusual, especially for kids with pasta. I don't get it.
A group of 7 friends gathered at Bambino's recently. The service was attentive but not overbearing, the food was delicious and reasonably priced, and the space was inviting. The waiter even took a picture for us at the end! One of the best experiences at a restaurant I've had in a while.
The portions are large, the food was excellent and the service was top notch. Our server was very attentive and friendly. I would recommend Bambino's to anyone looking for a casual restaurant that has great food and service at a reasonable price, Every time we walk past other restaurants and see people waiting outside, we laugh. Great friendly, tasty spot!
My fiance and I had an amazing breakfast here. I had seen pictures of the EABAT (eggs/avo/bacon/arugula/tomato) sandwich served on foccacia with a beautiful assortment of fruit and I just HAD to try it out. I'm always in search of the perfect breakfast sammy and this is IT. We also ordered the blueberry pancakes to split, so fluffy and delicious. Can't wait to come back!
So this time I thought, how about we dine family style. So I asked our waiter if that would be ok and he said, yes of course. So shared everything and it was great. Started with one of Bambino's special pizzas, and I really thought is was one of the best pizzas I have ever eaten. We then did a salad, pasta, vegetable, Cioppino and finally pumpkin cheese cake, and of course a bottle of wine. It was just a wonderful meal with great service in a comfortable environment. If I could give Bambino's a higher than 5 star rating I would, 10 STARS to the team at Bambino's * * * * * * * * * * THANK YOU ALL
