I really liked the decor, very sophisticated . They had very few crafted cocktails on their menu. I always love trying new and different drinks. I ordered a glass of wine which the waiter forgot, had to remind him. He did remember my husband's beer. The bread came with a hummus spread which was a nice touch but the bread itself had very little flavor. My personal bellwether of a fine meal is to start with great tasting bread. The salad was fine and the lamb chops tasty. My husband liked the bass. We are foodies and when we go to a new city we always look for restaurants that either source as much of their food as possible locally and or take great pride in putting out creative super attention-to-detail meals.
Service was attentive, as one would expect at a hotel restaurant. The food was good but not great. The risotto was flat, but the salad was excellent. The chocolate tart dessert was superb.
We enjoyed our late lunch on a Monday. The power lunch special was good-the salad and dressing were delicious-but the cookies were so sweet we couldn’t eat them. Beer list was short but good. Server was wonderfully pleasant and food came out quickly but not too quickly.
Surfaces were clean; classy yet casual ambience; Service was attentive and courteous; Food was very well presented and excellent. Overall, it was a very good experience, if a little expensive.
Love Bambara! Great food, great service. Super cool environment. I love the wide open kitchen.
Great! Perfect spot for post opera drinks and dinner. Loved it!
We had pre-opera reservation and were on time. However, it seems that the kitchen was not able to handle the crowd. There was a table of 16 nearby. Our appetizers and entrees came out in a timely fashion. Our plates had been cleared by 7 and we were only a cross the stree from the theatre. Thus, we ordered a simple dessert. It did not arrive until 7:22, despite our asking several time about its whereabouts. We even paid the check before dessert came to save time. Alas, we gulped down the dessert and ran for the door. I don’t think this should happen given all,of the circumstances.
After reading several raving reviews we decided to make this our anniversary dinner celebration. We were blown away! Delicious is an understatement! The sea bass was the best I have ever tasted. Would highly recommend this restaurant to anybody looking for a sophisticated meal with old world charm and ambience. Simply amazing
The food was really very good and the ambiance is pleasant. Enough of a buzz without being loud.
That said, it's pricey. I personally resent paying $40+ for an entree.
Just went for drinks and appys. Mushrooms had a chemical taste and were tough, difficult to cut.
Beet salad was ok but small.
Wine was a bit pricey.
Service was excellent.
Love to have a memorable meal at Bambara before attending the opera. Start out with the decadent blue cheese potato chips, and then choose from a nice variety of appetizers, salads and entrees.
I've had the privilege to eat at some really amazing restaurants in the cities we'd all associate with great food: NYC, LA, NoLa, Paris, etc. I, snobbishly, didn't think SLC had anything to offer. WRONG. Bambara's food is both creative and technically precise, and the service is impeccable without being pretentious. Highest marks.
The service was amazing, the waiter had been there forever so knew the food choices inside and out. recommended great choices. and the food... so good. the blue cheese chips to die for and the house soup. corn bisque with crab.. wow. Would send people forsure
Very fancy, high class atmosphere. Professional, attentive staff.
Delicious and beautofully presented food !
Definitely not a good place for small children, more of a special occasion/ date night/ business meeting type of place.
On the pricey side as well.
My boyfriend had to send back his salad and his steak. When the salad was sent back the waitress did not ask him if he wanted anything else. He ordered his steak medium and it came to the table still cold in the middle. When we showed the waitress she told us that’s how they cook to medium there. They did end up taking the steak off the check and offered to remake but by then I was done with my dinner
It’s pretty pricey but so very delicious. Great service too.
I have been to this restaurant twice now. Both times it did not disappoint. Both times I had Myke as my server. He was very helpful and fast. The food here is high quality and the wait is short. I really enjoyed the golden beet salad and Myke suggested a grilled chicken breast to add some protein to the dish. The chicken was very tender and had excellent flavor. It was a great recommendation. The ice cream sandwich was a great desert at the end.
Wanted to like it. friendly greeting, promptly and sat right away. Our food was good.Slightly overpriced for what seemed like sysco quality food. Ordered a bishops Mary (Virgin bloody mary) It was too spicy for my taste, but ok. Our server (purple hair) was snooty and did no quality check backs. Forgot my toast. Had we had a different server, I think our whole experience would have been much different
Food was incredible! Great service. Perfect place to have dinner if you are going to Capitol Theater. Valet parking was perfect and a great price.
Warm, elegant room...charming wait staff...exquisite tuna tartare, other creative but not bizarre dishes...a magical pre-theater dinner.
Food (brunch) was outstanding. We loved all our selections. Service was great, although it was not too busy when we were there. I do wish they offered real maple syrup, however. Otherwise, it was wonderful.
Great night, awesome steak
Amazing atmosphere outstanding food there is not one thing that I personally can’t complain about the service is just 100% on point.I highly recommend this restaurant to anybody that is looking for a place for anniversary or just fine dining
My wife and I have been here a few times now. Every time we have gone the service has been the same. So when you go you can expect the same. The waiter has been on top of everything it seems that the management does not spread the waiters to then. They also have potters that come around and help with water filling and cleaning the table. The food has been great tasting every time we have gone. This time my wife had the stake and I had the short ribs ravioli. The ravioli had a great flavor the only problem I had with my meal was that it only came with 4 smallish raviolis. I would have liked to have had a little bit more.
Great food. Service was polite but it seemed clear that we weren’t that important because we didn’t order drinks. One of our meals was dropped and it took a long time for it to be re-made. We were late for our movie as a result and couldn’t enjoy dessert. We were in the restaurant 1-1/2 hours and we didn’t receive our entrees until 20 min before we had to leave. At least the ambience was nice. I would give this place another chance though.
Great service, very personable and the food was delicious!
Overall I was disappointed with my visit to Bambara. The appetizer and salad courses were lovely, but things turned south when the mains arrived. They looked thrown together, and the gnocchi that so many reviews raved about was FAR over cooked.
Fantastic food, and even better service! Atmosphere is ok, nothing super special about it, but if you’re looking for good food and service in SLC- this is the place!
We were really looking forward to eating here, but it was very disappointing. It took quite a while to get our initial cocktails, when we did they were NOT good. We had wedge salads which were not very good. Our waiter was constantly bringing us the wrong food or drinks. Entrees were decent but took forever to get the wine with our entrees. The freak-show level of this place was off the charts, and made the atmosphere very uncomfortable. Definitely not a place to bring children.
Best restaurant in SLC
Great food. Great service. Nice easy location with valet parking
I come every year around Valentine’s Day and Bambara is never a disappointment! The servers are very attentive and I always leave happy. Service almost matters more to me than food at times but at Bambara both are comparable.
Bambara never disappoints. My wife and I have eaten here several times and we just love it. Chef is very creative and I have never been disappointed.
First time visit, comfortable and delicious food! Nick was a great server
Great food, great service, nice atmosphere , friendly people
My hubs & I had a 29th Wedding Anniversary lunch at Bambara; and as always, EVERYTHING was a delight! Our entire family has Bambara at the top of their restaurant list... always beautifully done.
I went there with my son before a concert at Abravanel Hall.
My son had filet mignon and I had lamb. Both were well prepared but not memorable.
Yes, I would go there again.
The noise level was a bit high for me.
Good overall - Issue in bar - had to call over bartender - we were told the cocktail girl was not there he does not generally do this - we had been waiting for some time. Went to restaurant arrived at 5:25 and told we were early and we would have to wait outside. Found that a bit interesting since the door was open and appeared to be ready to seat people. Waiter was superb and we were asked by who we believe to the manager if food was good and we were thanked for coming back. We were recognized. The bar thing and not being seated we just found a bit odd in how we were approached. We have been there many times and have truly enjoyed our overall experiences.
