History and innovation go hand in hand at Bambara, from the décor to the menus. Critically acclaimed and locally loved, Bambara’s grand arched windows, original brass accents and travertine marble blend stylishly with its contemporary design. In Chef Nathan Powers’ dynamic exhibition kitchen, ingredients from local farmers and ranchers are reimagined as inspired New American bistro plates. In a nod to the diversity of tastes and preferences of our clients, we are happy to offer a range of vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options in addition to our regular menus.

Bambara Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I have been here a few times now. Every time we have gone the service has been the same. So when you go you can expect the same. The waiter has been on top of everything it seems that the management does not spread the waiters to then. They also have potters that come around and help with water filling and cleaning the table. The food has been great tasting every time we have gone. This time my wife had the stake and I had the short ribs ravioli. The ravioli had a great flavor the only problem I had with my meal was that it only came with 4 smallish raviolis. I would have liked to have had a little bit more.
Great food. Service was polite but it seemed clear that we weren’t that important because we didn’t order drinks. One of our meals was dropped and it took a long time for it to be re-made. We were late for our movie as a result and couldn’t enjoy dessert. We were in the restaurant 1-1/2 hours and we didn’t receive our entrees until 20 min before we had to leave. At least the ambience was nice. I would give this place another chance though.
We were really looking forward to eating here, but it was very disappointing. It took quite a while to get our initial cocktails, when we did they were NOT good. We had wedge salads which were not very good. Our waiter was constantly bringing us the wrong food or drinks. Entrees were decent but took forever to get the wine with our entrees. The freak-show level of this place was off the charts, and made the atmosphere very uncomfortable. Definitely not a place to bring children.
Good overall - Issue in bar - had to call over bartender - we were told the cocktail girl was not there he does not generally do this - we had been waiting for some time. Went to restaurant arrived at 5:25 and told we were early and we would have to wait outside. Found that a bit interesting since the door was open and appeared to be ready to seat people. Waiter was superb and we were asked by who we believe to the manager if food was good and we were thanked for coming back. We were recognized. The bar thing and not being seated we just found a bit odd in how we were approached. We have been there many times and have truly enjoyed our overall experiences.
This was an amazing experience. I appreciated the amazing staff, especially Branden our waiter. He was attentive but not over bearing. He was knowledgeable about the menu and preparation which helped to accommodate my spouses gluten free diet. Cocktails were superb and inventive. I have no words for the food. Every bite was spectacular. I ate far past full because of how addictive the dish was. Overall, one of the best experiences I've had in a long time.
We were in town for the Sundance Film festival and are familiar with the Hotel Monaco brand. The ambiance and service was superb. The food portions are not large but we were satisfied. I ordered a dry vodka martini but it did not have the alcohol content I am accustomed to. I did learn that Utah has some restrictions on alcohol percentage , so be prepared. Overall, very good dining experience and they do validate parking at the hotel. No need to use the adjacent parking lot as we did.
We were pleased to find this at our hotel, the Monaco Kimpton, in the midst of a transcontinental road trip. It is a gorgeous room. Great service, innovative cocktails and a marvelous apple cranberry sorbet for dessert. The only let-down was an overwhelming plate of pumpkin gnocchi, but we admired the chef's noble effort.
We were a group of four women going for brunch before seeing a Sundance Film Festival movie and loved everything about our experience! So many delicious brunch options to choose from we had a hard time making a choice. Great Bloody Mary’s and flavored mimosas. Very attentive service and lovely ambiance. We will be back!
I have been multiple times at Bambara but Jake (Our Waiter) made it very special. He is very classy, professional, friendly and most importantly, Jake is very pleasant to talk to, he is smart and he knows how to provide extremely excellent customer service. My hat off to Jake.
Best food I have every had. The atmosphere is great. Cozy and quiet. The food is mouthwatering. I would eat there every night if I could. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel Monaco also has a great atmosphere. When your done eating you can play games out in the lobby. The giant scrabble board is a must after dinner.
Asked for a romantic table. (Double birthdays and New Year’s Eve) Stared at a coat rack all night. lamb was good but the pork or lamb belly in sauce tasted very gamey, couldn’t eat. There was a piece of plastic in my husbands wine glass. We were kind of shocked, but didn’t make a big deal of it.
Had duck confit next day. Very little duck present. Service erratic.
The cheeseburgers and fries from room service were GREAT!
Did love staying at Monaco and coming down for dinner.
Do need to work on food a bit though. Usually fabulous. This time, very inconsistent.
We went for our anniversary. Letting the staff know it was our anniversary beforehand through open table turned out to be a good idea. They had special menus printed out that said "Happy Anniversary" and the staff seemed particularly attentive and aware of our special evening. They also gave us a free dessert at the end of the night. Overall the food and service was fantastic. We both got the filet and it was one of the best filets I've had in a long time and I eat out a lot at nice places so I'm not easily impressed.
We are here on Christmas Eve while staying in SLC for the holidays at the Grand America. For the price, there are far better options in downtown SLC. The bread was stale, my wife’s gnocchi was perhaps the worst she’s ever had - very heavy and dense with oil, as if they’d been sautéing for hours and been rewarmed in oil. The filet was cooked well but fairly bland on flavor. I had the special - a chicken roulade that was fine, but certainly not special. Maybe I’m too much of a good snob, but we were not impressed. Wouldn’t ever go back and definitely would not recommend.
I'm pleased I scheduled ahead for a reservation as it was well worth it. I took my adult daughter and her boyfriend and thoroughly enjoyed our time together. We weren't rushed, the starters were out of this world, the entrée crazy good and even ordered amazing dessert and coffee. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and obviously loved being there. I'm so pleased Bambara is open. I did Christmas Day with my adult children in 2014 and will always remember the wonderful evening together. That was our last Christmas together so there is bittersweet memories for me. We'll be back for yet another memorable experience. Cheers
