History and innovation go hand in hand at Bambara, from the décor to the menus. Critically acclaimed and locally loved, Bambara’s grand arched windows, original brass accents and travertine marble blend stylishly with its contemporary design. In Chef Nathan Powers’ dynamic exhibition kitchen, ingredients from local farmers and ranchers are reimagined as inspired New American bistro plates. Bambara Ratings and Reviews
Chic place, with trendy menu. But tastes are exaggerated by over- manipulation of the recipes, everything tends to be in the salty side. The gnocchi seemed to be cooked the day prior and re-heated with extra sauce; salmon was salty and spicy and the only remnant of the fish flavor was a slightly fatty aftertaste. Freshness lacked from the menu and the tastes of the items we tried.
The goat ice cream was a great fresh taste and a surprise; but the chocolate mousse that came with it was just too rich to pair with it.
Service was great.
Our $18 cheese plate appetizer was incredibly bland, and my old-fashioned was so sickeningly sweet I could only take a couple sips. Most of our entrées were good, excluding the halibut dish, which was by far the most expensive. We ordered some type of ice cream sandwich with caramel sauce that was, hands-down, the best part of the meal.
The meal cost over $300, and the night ended with one member of our party sick in the middle of the night due to something she ate.
The perfect spot for a high class special occasion dinner. Service was stellar and the food was absolutely amazing. The scallops melt in your mouth and the lamb was cooked to perfection. Try dishes exactly as they are with no substitutions for optimal palate experience! Thanks again, Bambara!
You are late due to traffic and they were very accommodating when I called and needed to move our reservation back. We were seated immediately and the server came right away but was not rushed. The food was delicious; I had the beet salad and then the scallops. Everything was very tasty with multiple flavors and textures My husband had a short rib ravioli which he enjoyed very much.
Best meal I’ve had in a long time. The starters sounded all too good to pass. The duck prosciutto was salty (in a good way) and absolutely delicious. The bone marrow was balanced nicely with notes of acidity and crispy cilantro. The cheeks were tender, crispy and meaty. The clams sat in this beautiful thick sauce full of flavor and perfect for dipping and scooping. The deviled eggs were elevated with a perfectly crispy piece of prosciutto and deliciously mildly sweet pickles. If that wasn’t enough for our tastebuds we then had the short ribs raviolis. They were savory pockets of deliciousness paired perfectly with a touch of acidity to cut the richness making it beautifully light and oh so flavorful. Lastly we ended our night with a must have turtle icecream sandwich and an apple sorbet with tarragon. Both nice and light and a perfect ended to the meal. I️ would return to Salt Lake City just to eat here again. Definitely worth the price and the trip.
A very lively and energetic environment. Service was wonderful, and the waiter was knowledgeable in suggesting a perfect wine when we were trying to juggle lamb and seafood. We both had the corn bisque to start and it was every bit as good as the reviews suggested. A fun place with good bar scene and tasteful decor.
Previously impressed that the menu changed regularly, but haven't seen much change as of late. While the food is still good, attention to detail seems lacking (ie, Pasta is exceedingly thick on the short rib ravioli, food overly salted, duck prosciutto cut very thick). Hopefully, this is just a temporary lapse.
Our server was fantastic. He knew the wines on the wine list and the food. We started with a shared Tuna Tartare which was excellent. It is light and was a good portion for sharing by both os us. We then enjoyed the beet salad which was light and flavorful! We followed with by the sea bass which with the faro and baby tomatoes was outstanding. It was cooked to perfection. The pace of the meal was terrific and we enjoyed our evening.
Amazing good and great service! We had a few limitations- food allergy, different timing for two people, and two kids in tow. Bambara was right on it! Meals were prompt, fresh and delicious! Kids loved the food as much as the adults, and all accommodations were exceeded! We all will return!
We enjoyed a pre-concert meal with the staff paying good attention to timing as usual.
The appetizer of trumpet mushrooms was excellent and the house special Caesar that we shared excellent. The scallop preparation was interesting but the amount of scallops was too small (about 5 medium) for my husband's appetite. The short rib ravioli were very creative and much enjoyed. The pinot noir by the glass was terrific.
Great service and delicious food...as always. Have to start with the potato chips smothered with melted cheese. The special was a grilled cheese with caramelized onions and a bowl of tomato soup. Starts with a salad, finishes with a yummy cookie. All was delicious, especially the grilled cheese!
We went to Bambara for our first anniversary. We noted the occasion on our reservation, and we when we arrived our menus had "Happy Anniversary!" printed on them, which was a nice touch. I wish that there was a little more to choose from on the menu, but overall the food was delicious. We started off with a shared plate of the Blue Cheese House Cut Potato Chips, which were amazing! Tons of delicious cheese and perfectly crisp and tasty chips. For main dishes, my husband was head over heels for his Scottish Salmon. I opted for the Gnocchi, which was good but didn't pack as much of a punch as I would have liked.
Our waiter graciously offered us a dessert for our anniversary, and we decided to go with the Vanilla Bean Creme Brulee, which was the perfect way to end the night.
Overall, we're happy with our choice of celebrating our first anniversary at Bambara, and would recommend it for other special occasions!
The ambience of the restaurant was very nice. Good lighting and low noise level. It was our anniversary and the staff wished us well and our menus had happy anniversary written on them. Collin was an excellent server. Very attentive and respectful. EXCELLENT recommendations on food and drink pairings. We had a wonderful experience!
Food and service were both on point. Steak cooked perfectly. The Bone Marrow appetizer is amazing. The NY Sour craft cocktail was a perfect blend of sweet and sour. Bambara is located inside the Kimpton Hotel Monaco. Staying at the hotel and making a reservation at Bambara, makes for a great staycation.
We have dined here and taken friends here and hosted visitors here over the years. The restaurant has always had a creative menu and this meal was no exception. Our server helped us arrange a tapas small plates style meal with the highlights being pig cheeks, brussel sprouts, and an all local cheese plate. The "by the glass" wine offerings are always excellent. Looking forward to coming back again.
