American
History and innovation go hand in hand at Bambara, from the décor to the menus. Critically acclaimed and locally loved, Bambara’s grand arched windows, original brass accents and travertine marble blend stylishly with its contemporary design. In Chef Nathan Powers’ dynamic exhibition kitchen, ingredients from local farmers and ranchers are reimagined as inspired New American bistro plates. In a nod to the diversity of tastes and preferences of our clients, we are happy to offer a range of vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options in addition to our regular menus.

We have come to Barbara’s for years and this is the first time we have been disappointed. The blue cheese potato chips had very little blue cheese. The meals were very busy. It seemed that there were too many things going into the plate. The chocolate cake dessert was pretty tasteless and the creme brûlée was more huckleberry jam like than brûlée. All 4 of us were disappointed.

Went out with friends for an early Friday night dinner. It took us over 3 hours to eat. The waiter, though informative; took his time with everything. The food was sub par, far from what I had once had there before. Over 600.00 with tip for dinner and drinks for 4 people at this place was outrageous. I used to recommend this place but no longer will.

Love the modern decor and environment. The service was excellent, waiter gave great recommendations for cocktails and food..which was delicious. I had the scallops, perfectly cooked, just crispy enough on the outside without drying it out. My co-worker has the lamb shank..the meat fell of the bone it was so tender. I highly reccoment Bambar for lunch or dinner. You will not be sorry!

Great food. The Beet Salad and the Chicken were excellent. A 1/2 bottle of wine is outrageously expensive. $50 for the bottle, wow. Service was fabulous and great interior design. If you skip the alcohol the prices are very reasonable.

They were very busy, but you can expect that for a Saturday night. The restaurant was drafty, ended up wearing my coat for 3/4 of the time we were there. The food was good and so was portion size; but not equal to the cost. Our server was amazing and very knowledgeable about Celiac's disease and gluten free. She was quick and friendly. The food was also prepared quickly. They made sure we were out on time to make our show.

I have to say we were disappointed because first off there were no specials. Must have been the Head chef's day off on Monday. We were given the wrong wine list so when we ordered the wines we picked were not available. They were out of the Elk. The one reason we choose this restaurant. The scallops with the risotto had no flavor at all and the risotto was crunchy and not creamy. The chicken entree was way too salty. The trifle dessert was dry. The only saving grace was the waitstaff was very understanding.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed Bambara. Our server, Jason, was so great. He made our experience special. We had the Blue Cheese Potato Chips, Tempura Green Beans and the Deviled Eggs. The Butter Lettuce Wedge salad topped off the meal. We were so full we didn’t have room for dessert. I highly recommend this restaurant when you’re in Salt Lake City. Make sure to sit in Jason’s section!!

The service was top notch. We let our waiter know we were attending a show and he kept us on time. His reccomedations for cocktails and apps were great but the main dish was just not that good, especially for the high end prices.

I love Bambara!! I always forget about this little gem of a restaurant when I’m making plans downtown. The food was delicious, the scallops and steaks were cooked to perfection, and we all had a wonderful evening. Bambara is always so accommodating if you’re headed off to the theatre or a show at Abravenel Hall, they work hard to get you fed and out of there, without compromising on taste or service! Bambara is a fabulous option for fine-dining downtown, inside the beautiful Hotel Monaco!!

A perfect place to dine before going to see Wicked at the Eccles Theatre. The Tempura Green Beans, Blue Cheese Chips and Cheese Board were both enjoyable and delicious! The Filet Mignon and Elk were cooked and served to perfection. Myke, our server was amazing! He Attended to our every need. Outstanding Dessert and hot beverages after the show on a snowy February night, completed our perfect evening. The ambiance of the restaurant was refreshing and lovely. Thanks to Bambara for excellence in all they do!

There was a bit of a wait to be seated despite having a reservation. However, the wait staff informed us that our table would not be charged for any drinks due to this. That was very accommodating, and it was greatly appreciated.

As usual, everything at Bambara was lovely. The food was delicious. The timing of everything was perfect.

My only negative was that the tables by the large windows are incredibly cold in the winter. I was cold through the whole dinner.

Best night out we’ve had in a year and a half since moving to SLC. Got the recommendation from a foodie friend, and he wasn’t wrong. Food was incredible in presentation and flavor, the staff was friendly, and the open kitchen is so fun to watch. Definitely worth the high dollar signs. My only complaint in value is with the wine list. We regularly keep one of the “by the glass” bottles in our wine rack at home. A bottle here (one of the cheapest options on the menu) is over 5x retail price. I get that it’s a fancy restaurant, and it’s Utah, but come on... not everyone can afford a three digit bottle with their $40 entrees. Literally everything else was perfect.
