Brunch here is to die for. The drinks are overpriced, but it's downtown and a nice place. The service was excellent. We came for my friend's birthday and it was lovely.
Wonderful service from Chris. Amazing food and the presentation was breathtaking
We dined here on the Friday evening before everything shut down due to Corona virus. It was very quiet. Our server was incredibly helpful and nice. There were some big wins food wise and others were just meh, especially for the cost. The corn soup and elk were definitely the winners--unique and delicious. I dislike game meat that I've had before and this was stellar. The beet salad and blue cheese chips weren't anything special or worth the high price. The filet was delicious, but again, nothing super unique. Overall delicious, but I don't think I'd feel like I need to go back for the high cost of the meal--maybe for the elk. ;)
Lunch meeting and the lunch menu is wonderful. I ordered the Nicoise Ahi Salad. A bit different that others that I’ve had but absolutely delicious. Nice large portions on ahi cooked perfectly on a tower of lettuce and tiny potatoes. My colleague ordered one of the other salads and it was equally delicious. Dell was our waiter and he did a nice job. Comparably priced with other downtown venues and that lovely Hotel Monica atmosphere. Recommend.
Always a pleasure. Our server was particularly attentive this trip -- A+
Excellent dinner and drinks. This was an anniversary dinner. They took great care of us!
The food was delicious and our waiter was fantastic. The inside could use a little updating/added interestingness, but with a meal like that, nothing else is a big deal.
We visit Bambara once per year when we travel to Utah. We always celebrate my brother's birthday there since that is always concurrent with our annual ski trip. Bambara never disappoints. The staff is friendly and knowledgable, and the food is wonderful. They are a perfect place to celebrate without calling unwanted attention to a shy birthday boy. :-)
Very nice setting. Waiter was knowledgeable. Great vegetarian dish!
Best upscale restaurant we have tried in SLC since moving here a few years ago and the fiest time I've ordered scallops in Utah that weren't sandy. Service a bit slow and wine list heavily marked up, but overall great..we will definitely be back
It was Saturday lunch time but they only offered brunch and even that was very breakfast oriented. I really wanted lunch and so did the very few people that were around me and I mean very few only one other person. The cost was high for what I got. I had the one of two items that very more on the lunch side. I had the burger without a bun but it lacked flavor and I would have liked to have a side salad but that was not offered. My daughter had the eggs Benedict which I tasted and was very good but the potatoes served with them were very over cooked and lacked flavor. Other people that came to the restaurant asked about a lunch menu and when they said no left. They should think about offering lunch on the weekends.
We have been going to Bambara during our annual ski trip to Utah for over a decade. The fact that we have returned every year should be enough of an indicator of our feelings about the restaurant. This year, unfortunately, we were disappointed both by the food and the customer service, the latter of which is among the worst we have ever experienced for a restaurant of this caliber.
One of us ordered the New York Strip which was at least 1/3 fat. The exterior of the cut was tough and difficult to slice. The interior was chewy like gum. This cut was more suitable for grinding a low grade hamburger rather than a 49 dollar steak. I watched as my companion struggled to cut and eat this pricey and poor quality offering.
During the main course, the waiter never came to check with us about our meal. He did so after we were finished, although my companion left the fat portion of his steak on the plate. When the waiter returned to ask us about our experience, my companion relayed his feedback about the steak he ordered. The server simply cocked his head and replied "I'm sorry". Then he left our table with plates in hand after asking us if we were interested in dessert. Tone-deaf, to say the least.
We were two people at a four person table. One of the bussers politely asked if she could take a chair for another table. Shortly thereafter, the host came over and asked if he could take the other chair, which had our coats on it. Apparently, not reading the overall mood, and the fact that our table was empty (he had seated us), he offered to hang our coats (which didn't happen when he seated us). Pointing out the obvious, I said we were leaving, and hung our coats over my chair.
We don't what has happened at Bambara, but it's unlikely that we'll ever return.
I’ve always enjoyed the Powers Lunch and it did not disappoint. The salad and light dressing were the perfect starter. I ordered the steak frites on a bed of arugula. Hot and delicious! I don’t know where Bambara sources their steaks but they are great cuts. I finished the Powers lunch with the signature turtle cookie and an Americana. Special thanks to the best server in town - hands down - Chrit!
Had David, you’re very knowledgeable server. He recommended two of the best appetizers I think I ever had. The potato chips with blue cheese and your fried green beans. Ordinarily, I would have never ordered either. Now I can’t wait to go back to order again. Also had the grilled chicken club. Was delicious. Be back soon
Meals were perfectly prepared and presented. Service was spot on - attentive but not overbearing.
Expensive drinks, but loved the food! The elk was impressive
Outstanding. Truly worth the previous reviews. Amazing food. Great service. Solid choice.
a m a z i n g pancakes! So good! Lovely setting, attentive server and great food. Highly recommended.
Meal was delicious and service was excellent!
Be prepared to spend, but the food and wine here is beautiful!
Awesome night with great service. Loved my Steelhead dinner. Cooked perfectly. The birthday girl loved her vegetarian gnocchi dinner. Our husband loved their elk dinner and quail appetizer. Our espresso martinis were delish too!
We had the elk and the New York strip. To say they were amazing would be an understatement. I had my elk rare, as per the recommendation, and trust me, you won’t regret it! The creme brûlée was delicious and a great way to end the meal. Will DEFINITELY be back and would recommend to everyone I know.
The wait staff did an excellent job of attending to our needs, and providing clarity on the menu and specials that were available.
The food was very good, and perfect for the occasion of a business lunch.
The ambiance was also very good, not too noisy for conversation.
Food was excellent! We had the elk and the filet, and both were wonderful
Would definitely eat here again
Awesome place with great atmosphere and food! The service is outstanding .
Great food, great service and great time. Will definetely go back.
We had a very unfortunate experience at Bambara's. We had reservations that clearly stated that we had one patron in a wheelchair so needed one of the low tables. After waiting 20 minutes past our reservation time we were shown to a booth. When we pointed out that a booth would not work for us we were told that was all that was available and we should take it or leave. Fortunately, other patrons were aware of the situation and one table of people offered to take the booth and give us their table. The hostess did not help them move their plates, glasses, silverware etc.
Service was terrible. We ordered coffee, tea, and diet coke to drink but were brought 3 cups of coffee. The toast was part of the order never did arrive.
This is a very unfriendly restaurant and I would recommend against it for anyone in a wheelchair.
Additionally, later in the day, I received a notice from open table that we had not kept our reservations which we clearly had.
Overall great experience! First time. There was a larger table that was very loud for the environment that probably could’ve been handled differently.
Will be back in the future 100%. Thank you for a great early Valentines dinner.
Food was excellent but corkage fee for bringing your own bottle was $25. That’s outrageous.
A great Anniversary dinner! Very attentive waiter and the food was exactly as we expected.
I work next to this wonderful establishment and typically rave about the food and service. My last experience was very different.
I ordered the famous flat iron cobb salad. The steak was delivered medium rare instead of medium. The server did not once ask how the meal was after the meal was served. As he prepared to clear the plate, I told him the steak (most of the steak still visible on the plate) was rare to medium rare.
He calmly told me he would inform the cook and then promptly cleared the plate without any further solutions. I have noticed a tremendous amount of turnover at Bambara recently. The days of familiar staff faces and VIP status are gone.
Oh, the good old days......
Utah is interesting, right? In more ways than one. A lot of places you go, order a cup of coffee and wait. The wait staff fails to understand that all you want is a cup of coffee. Now. Not later. Once I have my coffee, you can take your time. Well that did not happen at Bambara, at least for coffee anyway. It did happen with our wine. I probably should have ordered the nice bottle of Orrin Swift and had a glass before ordering dinner, but alas, I did not. I made the mistake of ordering wine and dinner at the same time. And guess what, they all arrived at the same time!!!! What a shame that we were not able to enjoy a glass of wine, each other's company, and relax a little before our food arrived. Food was good, a bit proud of themselves about pricing, overall a nice evening without having to leave the hotel.
Thank you for joining us! We look forward to seeing you on your next visit to SLC.
Great service with amazing eats. The elk loin was incredible.
Some of the best service in had. The food was all great.
Appetizers lacked a bit
But the meal and wine was the absolute best
Food cold and waitress was unfriendly
Amazing food, five stars for sure
The service was rushed and not timed at all. Entrées came out less than five minutes after the salads came out. The service was terrible.
